img_8846Hey friends ❤  How was your week?  We survived another week and I’m proud of that.  We got everything wrapped and mailed out for Christmas – yay!  And this past Saturday we had one last time shopping adventure on a different side of town.  We spent the entire day store hopping, having a blast and laughing.  Isn’t that what the holidays are about?  It was a blast.  Of course, one of the funny things that happened (there’s always more than one with us, right), was that we were shopping on the ‘country’ side of our town.  I guess you could say it was redneck land – LOL.  Well, I’m in a store and I asked the lady at a jewelry counter if they sold nose rings.  OMP!  The look on her face was priceless.  I personally was laughing my butt off at her shock that I had one.  Priceless my friends – priceless.

So this week friends, I leave you with some important information from nephdog Sherlock Bones – If you are going to jingle jangle make sure your jangle jingles.

How was your week?

Hello sweet friends.  I won’t start this week about asking how your week was last week.  Last week was one of the weeks that we just want to skip right over.  So much loss in one week – heck let alone so much loss in 2016.  This is definitely been a year of grief.  Which brings us to eating – let’s just skip right over that this week – LOL

This past weekend was another working weekend.  Sunday we did rest which was awesome but the day seemed to go by so fast.  And then you sneeze and there you go – Monday all over again.  Funny how that happens so quickly.  This week though holds hope.  I must finish packing up presents and get them mailed out on Friday… that is if the anipals here at the Hotel Thompson will give me a break.  We *tried*  to work on packages last week.  Certain anipals here think they have to take all of the items for a test drive on their own before giving them to any of their friends.  Funny how that works, right?  So, if you get any presents from the Hotel Thompson, just disregard the stray hair here/there or heaven forbid a small tooth mark on anything – LOL.

So what are your plans this week my friends?  I am trying to be nice to myself, trying to take care of myself and trying to watch the things I eat.  It is the holidays and I’m watching but not watching – does that make sense?  Now come January 1st, it will be full force.  I promise that. ❤

Hello friends – how was your holiday?  Did you get enough turkey?  It was probably one of the best holidays we have had in a while here at the Hotel Thompson.  We ate, slept, sat around watching a LOT of football – screamed at the games and cheered for the players, slept some more and chilled.  I was off of work for FIVE entire days and did not think about it one single time.  It was as close to heaven as I could get for sure.  I finally did hear back from my doctor Friday for the additional blood tests.  Everyone was right.  I’m in a major flare up so some of my medicines have been tweaked.  I’m feeling so much better today so YAY for that!  Over the holidays, we also worked on Christmas Cards.  We had a little line going trying to get everything taken care of during this break.  Some of you may have gotten emails/texts from us inquiring about your address.  Please check your emails and those that responded back – thanks!  We will be putting everything in the mail in the next couple of weeks.  We *attempted* to work on some packages to be mailed.  But -cough cough- some anipals (Bacon, Houdini and Hemi) thought everything was for them.  It’s hard to explain that not every toy bought into this house is theirs.  Funny how life works that way, right?  So if you receive a package from us, overlook the added hair.  Just think of that as more love – LOL.

And while you are addressing your Christmas cards this year, we would like to ask for you to do one thing.  Please remember our soldiers.  If you can, please send a card or two to the recovering soldiers.  I’m sure that it would brighten their day.  Thanks my friends – have a great week.  Only FOUR more weeks until Christmas!

Hello friends – how did you do last week?  I had my doctors appointment Friday afternoon.  While most things went great and the doctor was greatly impressed with most of my blood work, there were some things that concerned her.  Therefore, I had more blood work done after my appointment.  Hopefully, I will have those results back this week and we can discuss what is going on.  Personally, I think my rheumatoid arthritis is getting worse.  It feels like it is these days.  I’ll let you know once I find out something.

Other than that, we got our last items purchased this past weekend for Christmas. The end of this week, we will begin the wrapping, bagging, boxing and torture of bringing things to the post office.  This will be interesting for sure.

How is your shopping coming along?  How was your week?  Any plans this week?  I know this is the holiday week and I can tell you that I might not be walking a straight line with some food…. I feel some pies coming along – 🙂

Hello sweet friends. How did you do last week?  Ups or downs?  Remember life is a process. Things don’t happen overnight and changes take time.

I have great news to share. Six months ago, I had bloodwork done where my A1C came back at the time as 8.3 – not extremely high but too high in my world. Well that is where Journey with Friends started. Little changes at first – cutting back on food, making better choices, walking more. Nothing happened overnight and there were stumbling blocks, ups and downs but still I continued. Well last week I went for my six month check up and had bloodwork done again. Are you ready for this?  My A1C came back 5.9!  Yay me!!  This makes it all worth it in the long run. I’m so thankful for this change.

So I leave you this week my friends with a question.  What are you thankful for this week?  ❤️

Oh friends – how was your week/weekend?  In the words of my pig son, “Oh my piggy heavens!”   I admit that we didn’t make the best of food choices last week.  I tried to stay on plan the best I could do but it was one of those weeks that you chased to keep up with.  Can you relate?  And I knew the weekend was going to be busy.  There were so many errands to run.  When you think about it, it’s unfair how we get two days of the weekend that is meant for rest from your work week but is used to play catch up with errands. And then you have to work five days.  Tsk-tsk so unfair in my book – LOL.

So Saturday, we hit the door running.  We had a few things planned that somehow ended in snowballing into a cluster of errands.  I’m not sure how that happened.  But the list of things to do kept growing and growing like kudzu here in the south.  First off on the list, to get my hair cut and colored.  There is nothing like getting pampered with a cut/color and just having some time to yourself.  Of course, my cut and color turning into several hours but that gave me time to work on my to-do list on my phone.  But, I do like the results.  I feel younger, more relaxed and more me. Afterwards, can you believe we went Christmas shopping and finished?  Yes we did.  Now that deserved a drink and trust me, mommy got one…or two.

I know it was the marathon from the day before that did it.  Sunday morning I felt like a zombie trying to move in bed.  Oh my!  It hurt to even move my toes.  Finally after some slow moving, I did succeed in getting up and dressed.  The goal for this day was to have a quiet breakfast with the hub unit at one of our local places.  We walked out to the Jeep and guess what.  The Jeep was feeling it too.  One of the tires on the Jeep was barely filled with air.  It might have been during this time that I lowered my head and thought, “Why me?  Why today”.

That’s how our Sunday plans got changed.  Instead of breakfast that we wanted, it was to our local Sam’s Warehouse to get tires installed.  So while waiting for our Jeep, we had the breakfast of champions at the Sam’s snack bar… pizza.  At least the hub unit was thrilled.  And at least 2.5 hours later, we left with nice tires… amazing how a Jeep runs with full tires.

So my friends, how was your week/weekend?

Hello sweet friends.  How did you do last week in your Journey of Life?  I am still battling my flare up but it does seem to be getting better.  I even tried to walk a bit more than last week which was awesome – slow but awesome.  I ended last week with 6.68 miles.  It helped that one day I went to our local mall and walked the entire downstairs and upstairs looking for new nose rings.  I was lucky and found some that I really liked.  But you know, they just don’t make a huge variety of them.  And yes, I got up the nerve Friday night and actually changed my nose ring out for the first time.  It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.  Yay for that!  And this week food wise is looking good.  I have our meal plans worked out which should help me getting home from work at night.

So friends – how did you do?

Miles Walked Since 06/13/2016:  52.21 miles

My Mom Needs Training Wheels

Yep, I said that out loud.  Mom needs training wheels while she is walking!  The other day her and daddy went out to dinner – who would have thought that I know – snorts.  When leaving the restaurant, mom was so concerned about guiding daddy so he wouldn’t trip that she didn’t see this boulder on the ground.  Now that is her word – boulder.  I’m sure it wasn’t actually that big.  She hit the ‘boulder’ with her shoe.  Did I mention that she had on these really cute sandals that had openings to show her toes with their cute little pedicure colors?  She tripped, stumbled and thank goodness daddy was holding her hand so she didn’t fall down. So there she is stumbling while daddy is singing, “I’ll tumble for you” by Boy George – shakes piggy head. That’s the good part.  The bad part you ask?  Well, her big toe found the ‘boulder’.  She broke her toe nail, messed up her cute little pedicure and jerked her body from almost falling.  So as she tells daddy, she now has a catch in her giddy up.  Shakes head.  Only my mother huh?

So now mom has a catch in her giddy up, a messed up pedicure and guess who else wants to come out and play?  Mean old Mr. Arthritis.  She is also having a bad flare up with pain due to this weather that belongs in hell.  Yes I said it.  Hell.  It pushes the high 90’s every day.  When we get rain, it just makes things more steamy afterwards.  And it feels like we can never get the Hotel Thompson cool enough.  Daddy says he feels the power company lowers the power around 5pm every day.  Maybe it’s that or too many people turn their thermostats down during that time?  hhhmm – it makes you wonder doesn’t it?  Either way, even with fans you just can’t cool down and the heat is messing with mom’s arthritis.

So there you go.  You have my mom who is the stumbling toe cruncher catch in her giddy up hurting from the heat from arthritis gal at this moment.  Does that paint a picture for you?  Please send her some healing vibes and prayers this way if you don’t mind.  She’s having a hard time getting up and moving and standing and sitting.  Snorts – pretty much she has the trifecta of pain these past couple of days.  I’m hoping that this weekend she can get plenty of rest and some extra tender loving care from daddy and all of us anipals.

And tomorrow – oh joybells – we so can’t wait here.  We can’t be late for a very important date.  Mommy is expecting a phone call from someone here on blogville that is almost like a sister to her… someone that we have spoke to via blogville a LOT but never by phone  They are calling tomorrow at 2:30 pm our time.  We are ALL excited to talk to these peeps.

Can you guess who it will be?  We will post about it next week.  YAY!
