National Weatherman’s Day

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel here –

“Keeping my paws on the nuts of the world!”

.

February 5th is National Weatherman’s Day. This day honors weather people who work hard in trying to predict our fickle weather. Despite major technological advances, forecasting the weather is still a little tricky and always changing.

The weather affects how the humans dress in going outside in the elements and nature. They watch the wonderful television weather forecasters to dress accordingly. They don’t have the fur coats like we do… well most of them don’t – I heard that Bacon’s daddy is pretty hairy though – hee hee

According to the Air Force News, Weatherman’s Day commemorates the birth of John Jeffries, one of America’s first weatherman. Jeffries was born on February 5, 1744. He kept weather records from 1774 until 1816 – unbelievable!

If you see a weatherman today or you have access to a computer, give them your appreciation for a job well done!

New Show – Naked and Afraid

Oh dear piggy heavens above.  Yep, you read that right.  A show on television called Naked and Afraid.  I’ve been watching this on my television for a while now.  It’s taken me a while to wrap my little piggy brain around the concept.  Let me explain that to you so you get why I’m amazed.

A man and a woman sign up for this adventure.  Voluntarily might I add – snorts – remember that part.  They go somewhere remote in the world.  It could be Panama, Fiji, a swamp, the beach, a rain forest or wilderness.  They have to survive for 21 days alone.  Together.  Naked.  No water, no food and no clothes.  Did you get that?  Naked.  Two strangers that don’t know each other on their own.

WTP (what the pig?!)  I can understand 21 days of survival in a remote place but naked?  As in no clothes.  Not a stitch of nothing.  For all the world to see.  A complete stranger.  In nature.  With bugs, rain, heat, no food, no water, slithery things like snakes, dirt, and yuck.  Shivers to mergatroid.

This show comes on the Discovery channel.  Have you seen it?  If so, thoughts?  If not, you gotta see this show.  Oh, and let me add there is a small camera crew that follows them around.  Of course they can’t help in any way unless there is an emergency but they see you in your birthday suit too.

So, are you going to sign up?  Snorts.

Really Mother Nature – Really?!

So, it’s not enough lately that Mother Nature has been flexing her power in the south. We heard this morning that rains are coming in tonight AND there could be tornado’s.  WTP (what the pig) are you thinking Mother Nature!?  It’s not enough that you torture us with cold weather, snow, ice, no electricity, AND earthquakes.  Now you are going to throw tornado’s into the mix.  Really?

Stomps piggy hooves.  No more!  This is so wrong on so many different levels. Let me remember the safety rules for tornado’s now…. okay that’s it.  We go to the most centered place in the house with no windows – like a bathroom – and hide in the tub.  Got it.  Let’s see here.  Two humans, two purr things and a piggy in a regular sized tub.  Makes sense to me.  Will we all fit.  I don’t think so – shakes head.  Darn.  I guess those purr things can have the toilet.  Snorts.

And guess what I’m picking for the movie tonight?  I think it’s a great time to show The Wizard of Oz.

Double Snorts!

I know that I and Bacon would like to give giant shout-outs to our local weather team that we watch daily. We *always* watch our favorite Fox 5 Storm team. We believe they are the *best* in keeping our humans safe in nature. Here you go –

I *Know* Something is Going On

There is something strange going on at the Hotel Thompson.  I can’t put my hoove on it.  I took yesterday off from my blog.  The purr things said they had something they wanted to post.  I was fine with that.  They didn’t tell me what and I have no clue how to check.  But it couldn’t have been interesting because well they are purr things, right?  Anyone want to tell me what boring thing they posted about?

Anyway, I took the day off and was in my magical back yard all day helping Journalist Rocky the Squirrel with some housekeeping to get ready for the winter months coming up.  Let me tell you something about that squirrel, he is a pack rat – literally!  It was hard day of work and afterwards, this picture is as far as I got.  I couldn’t even jump on the couch for snuggles with mom!  I was worn out from my adventures outside.  And let me add, it was H.O.T. outside yesterday.  I’m not used to life without air conditioning.  Me and Rocky kept going underneath the deck to get out of the sun.  I had to ask him – how does he do it every day outside in the elements, no television and no room service?  He’s the squirrel, I’m telling you.  I’m just not accustomed to that kind of living.

When I came in, I had dinner and then crashed on the floor.  Mom/dad and the purr things were talking about something and they stopped.  I’m not sure if the purr things got into trouble or what was going on.  But the purr things, they were real stand offish the rest of the night.  They kept going back to my room and getting on the computer on/off all night.  I’m not sure what’s up with that.  Maybe they finally found some friends?  Maybe they joined Kitty Kat Harmony?  I’m not sure.  It was strange behavior to say the least.

Well, yawn, it’s time for my afternoon nap.  Hope everyone had a great day yesterday and a more fabulous day today.  XOXO – Bacon
