Sometimes it’s hard to get out for a quick dinner especially when one is saving money. But this night, mom/dad found the perfect place. It was the Sam’s Warehouse – snorts with piggy laughter. Daddy went in and asked for a table for two – rolls piggy eyes. He’s the romantic isn’t he?
Well mom enjoyed her fine dining experience. They got hot dogs with the works. By the works I mean sauerkraut, onions and mustard. Dad also went the extra mile with a bag of chips. Now you are probably asking yourself was this really awesome? Nods head. Mom said YES. For a whopping $5.00 – they had dinner for two. Big spenders huh?
Like many people, Saturday night was mom/dad’s date night. You might remember that a couple of week’s ago, they went to dine at the finest restaurant this south of Atlanta. It was the Sam’s Warehouse – snorts with piggy laughter. Daddy went in and asked for a table for two – rolls piggy eyes. He’s the romantic isn’t he? The previous night they had pizza. You can read about that date night here.
Well mom must have enjoyed her fine dining experience because last night she wanted to go back. But this time, they wanted hot dogs with the works. By the works I mean sauerkraut, onions and mustard. Dad also went the extra mile with a bag of chips. Now you are probably asking yourself was this as awesome as the pizza night? Nods head. Mom said YES. For a whopping $5.00 – they had dinner for two. Big spenders huh?
Now after they were eating and were just sitting there talking, they saw some peeps they knew. The peeps came over and sat with mom/dad asking them what they were doing. Mom said they were on their date night. The peep said, “Hogwash – you’re married now. There are no date nights”. What? Mom/dad didn’t get that memo. They always have weekly date nights. Don’t your parents?
Hello my friends. If you have been following my blog for any length of time, then you know that my mom/dad are crae-crae, crazy, over the top, not swimming with both oars or shall we say can not go out into public without getting into trouble. You understand where I’m coming from?
This weekend was no exception. I’m telling you, mom/dad left to their own devices not under anipal care, can be committed somewhere with matching white jackets that tie in the back. At this point, you are probably asking yourself well what the heck did they do this time?
Dad had been telling mom all week that Saturday night, he was taking her somewhere special, somewhere with pizzazz with great food and that the place was very popular. Come Saturday night, mom donned some special clothes and met dad in the front room. Dad told her, “Honey you are way overdressed.” So mom went and put on some jeans and a t-shirt. That’s when she started thinking what kind of “nice” place was this restaurant.
They get into the Jeep and dad gives mom instructions. That’s when… give me a moment to snort with piggy laughter… they arrived at the special restaurant with pizzazz – the local Sam’s Warehouse. OMP – mom busted out laughing so hard and was thankful she changed clothes for this special outing.
Mom/dad entered the warehouse and had the person at the door check their membership. That’s when dad told the greeter that he needed a table for two. Mom just shook her head and laughed.
So mom/dad find the best seat in the house and decide what they want for dinner. They chose pizza – astonishing huh? But not just any pizza. Dad referred to it as the best pizza this south of Atlanta. And the picture really does not do it justice. That one pizza slice is as big as a regular paper plate – or fine china as daddy called it that night. So, two slices of pizza and two drinks for an astonishing $4.00 date night. Can you beat that? Snorts with piggy laughter. So, the next time you are at your local Sam’s Club, check out the amazing pizza… not that I would know personally because mom/dad didn’t bring me home a piggy bag.
Oh my friends. Have you ever had one of those weekends where you did so very much that you finally just prayed for Monday to get here STAT because of being tired? Can you relate? Mom and dad had one of those weekends. Mom was already feeling slightly under the weather with her flare up. But Sunday night, she could barely walk. But I’m getting ahead of myself. So this is what those two humans of mine did.
Saturday – They got up for breakfast early and tried a new restaurant. Yes mom took pictures that I will post soon. They looked good too. After breakfast, they had to go to Kaiser to pick up some prescriptions. Then mom finally got her nails done – which was long needed. Then they went to Petsmart. Trust me, all of us anipals here at the Hotel Thompson wanted to go to Petsmart. But mom/dad said we couldn’t go because they were running all errands this morning before coming home to crash… which mom did 🙂 So after Petsmart and doing what dad said was ‘buying them out’ – rolls piggy eyes, they went to Wally World – Walmart for those that know the place. Daddy then got a haircut and afterwards, he and mom looked around for some things they needed. So, you see mom/dad did a LOT of walking all over the place. Which normally wouldn’t be bad but with mom’s current flare up situation, it wasn’t good. They left the house this morning around 8AM and didn’t get back home until way after 2PM. Then they had to unload the Jeep and put everything up. That’s a lot of work. With mommy not feeling too well lately, daddy wanted to go someone special for their date night tonight. So they left the house again at 4PM to go to a restaurant that is about 35 miles away.. not just any restaurant though. They have crab legs 🙂 Yum…. not that they brought me any back tonight – snorts.
Sunday – They got up for round 2 of shopping and getting errands done. They got up and went to a local place for breakfast – Cracker Barrel. Afterwards they had to go to a home improvement store named Lowes. Mom had some stuff she needed to return and they had pick up light bulbs and air filters for the Hotel Thompson. Of course, one things leads to another and the next thing they know they have a buggy full of stuff. But some of the things they found my friends – Oh my piggy heavens. I’ll share with you on another post on that – my parents are too hilarious! After dropping off these items at the Hotel Thompson, mom and dad wanted to go to another Wally World location to see if they had something they wanted that the other store didn’t… so off they went again. Not only did they find some things they were looking for but of course they found some more stuff. Did I mention that mommy *hates* shopping? She does. She can’t stand it. So she waits and makes lists and then tries to get everything at once. Silly mom huh?
Afterwards, it was time to do the monthly shopping so off they went to Kroger. Once there, they had to pick up some other medicines they had filled at their pharmacy. Then the major shopping for the Hotel Thompson. And did I mention that mom is a HUGE coupon shopper? She tells us anipals that she has to be so she can’t keep us accustomed to the way we are living. I don’t get it – do you? Mommy keeps up with her grocery list on her iPhone – there is actually an ap for that – snorts. So when we are out of something, she adds it to the list for the next trip. She also keeps up with her coupons on her iPhone. Mom says the one thing about shopping with coupons is organization and that it takes time. So they were at the grocery store for over two hours! Daddy told mommy at one time that just because they have room in the Jeep now doesn’t mean she had to fill him to the rim in this one trip – snorts – silly daddy. But then daddy also said that thank goodness they had Casper the new Jeep because everything they got would NOT have fit into Albert the Smart car. See all of the stuff in the back of Casper. You want to take a gander of the cost? Now mom/dad grocery shop majorly every 2-3 months. They will go every other week just to get milk and bread. The total cost of this shopping spree came out to be $178.00 – she then handed the cashier all of her coupons and told him to ‘make it rain savings’. Snorts – that’s my mommy. After mom’s coupons and such, it came down to a final price of $127.00 – mom said even the cashier was shocked and amazed at that. All of this for two somewhat adults, one pooch, two purr things and of course me who daddy says eats like a small child – snorts.
Then they came home to unload everything. Now mom has a great conclusion to this. She says, you shop all over the store and put things in your buggy. Then you have to unload everything at the register to be rung up. Then you have to load everything in your car to take home. Then you get home and have to take everything into the house and THEN put everything up. What a crap play huh? But daddy knew that mommy wasn’t feeling to good so he parked her in the kitchen and he brought everything into the house for her… aaww – that was sweet. Mom put everything up and crashed on the couch afterwards.
There she was medicated trying to get some rest while waiting for my Auntie Tina and cousins Savannah and Maverick to make it home. See they are visiting for a couple of days and was due to arrive at Nanas Sunday night. Mom finally got the call and her and dad then went to pick them all up for dinner. They went to a great pizza place and talked, laughed and got caught up. Afterwards, Auntie Tina and my cousins came to the Hotel Thompson to visit all of us anipals. That was great fun! We are all older now and loved the extra attention. And a certain piggy may or may not have done some cute things for that extra attention – just sayin’ . When they were done visiting, mom took them and Houdini up to Nana’s for a short visit. She was only there for a little over 30 minutes and then came home. After doing the medicines, for the week, she crashed pretty hard. Who cards that it was only 7PM, right?
So you see, we are all kind of excited that this past weekend is done. Completed. Over. Finished. All but one little itsy bitsy thing. What you ask? Snorts – I’m glad you asked. Tonight mom/dad are taking Houdini to a new groomer. This should be fun. Their appointment is at 6PM, right after mom’s work. Houdini doesn’t know yet. I’ll keep you posted on the results my friends. And one little question, is it the weekend yet? Snorts
Seriously, get OUT of the water…. or should I say restaurant this time? Mom and dad went out on date night – you know this means trouble. I found this picture on mom’s i-Phone. When am *I* ever going to learn not to look at her pictures?! This picture was on it. I asked mommy about it and she said that it was at the restaurant? What – squeal?! Jaws is eating out now? WTP (what the piggy?!)
I tell you those parents of mine find trouble every.time.they go.out. What did this shark do, walk up to the maitre d and say, “Table for one”… did they not hear the Jaws music playing? Shakes piggy head and walks away… only my humans.
Date night *finally* got here this past weekend. I’ve been walking on a cloud every since my Nylablue at http://nylabluesmum.wordpress.com/ said she would go out with me. So much planning needed to be done. I wanted our first date to be something that she would always remember and dream about. My bud Speedy at http://www.speedyhousebunny.com/ graciously offered to help me out. I don’t know what I would have done without his help. I’ll tell you, for a little rabbit – he has some *super powers*!
Date night came quickly with all of this planning. Speedy jumped into his magic closet to travel and pick me up so we could flash to Canada to pick up my love. Let me tell you, traveling in buns magical closet was something in itself. Speedy is FAST. He picked me up like I didn’t weigh anything at all and we jumped in the tunnel. I closed my eyes so tight and the next thing I knew there we were in Canada. I should have put on my winter coat because it’s cold there! I don’t see how my love does it. But that’s okay, I’m here to keep her warm now 🙂 Introductions were made in real life with Nylablue’s mother, Sherri-Ellen. I promised to have our princess home at a decent time and not to tire her out too much. Then, we were off.
Speedy pulled the limousine around and picked us up in style. There’s nothing like a white stretch limo to make the girls swoon, huh? This one was fantastic! There was so much room for us inside to stretch out and partake in some of the goodies that Speedy had stocked up in the limo. Nothing but the best for my little Nylablue..
.
There was plenty of bottled water stocked and Speedy even remembered to stock some light snacks for us. There was tuna, crackers, shrimp balls and this fabulous aged cheese. It was all very delicious. But do you know what made it even more special? Having my sweet lady right there beside me to enjoy everything. We sat, snacked and talked about our lives while watching the landscape pass us by in the limousine windows. It was by far the highlight of my life so far. Nylablue stretched out on one of the seats and looked like the princess she is.
Our first stop in our magical journey was an ancient temple in Cambodia. You know I figured cats are curious and that Nylablue would love this. We all got out to investigate the temple and the grounds. It was like a magical moment trapped in time. Everything was so quiet and it was like just the three of us were the only ones left in the world. It had a very calming and healing effect I believe. I’ve never seen grass so green and believe it or not – it didn’t feel weird on my hooves which is something I normally hate. It was pigawesome. And Speedy, he was wonderful in telling us about other temples he had been to.
When we got done exploring, we went to the back of the temple and found a gorgeous lake. It was pure bliss that we all stretched out and let the warm sun rays envelope us. We stayed there for almost an hour in silence. No one really needed to say anything. We were all content and happy. We had each other, the sun and the beautiful day that we had been looking forward to so much. It was our little heaven. It was as close to perfect that we could ever plan.
.
After a while, my pot belly started to rumble. Darn that belly. But by that time Nylablue was started to get a little hungry as well. We decided to have a little picnic right there with the mountains in the background. Speedy had packed us a variety of different delights. There was a magnificent tuna spread, baked carrots, aged cheese and chicken. This was definitely the best picnic basket I’ve seen. We took turns trying different foods and yes we might have fed each other a bit. Some things need to remain at the temple 🙂
.
Afterwards, we went walking in a field next to the lake that was filled with daisies and butterflies. Nylablue and I took turns chasing the butterflies and running through the daisies. It was an afternoon of carefree delight in doing nothing but having fun with each other. We even played tag for a while. Then we played hide and seek. Nylablue hid first and I asked her if I found her what would I get? She purred and meowed. I snorted, closed my eyes and started to count. All I can tell you is that I found her and a gentlepig never tells of his adventures. This was the best date of my entire life. So much so that I made my little Nylablue a video of our time together. I hope she enjoys it as much as I enjoyed my day with her. And Speedy, thanks my man for helping us out with your talents. You are the best!
Guess who is going on their very first date with the love of their life? Guess… go ahead guess who. I bet you can’t guess can you?
<<This guy>>
That’s who! Shake your hiney. Do a little dance. That’s right. This little oinker has asked a certain lady out for this weekend and she has accepted. There’s lots of plans to be made – reservations, meals, limousine, entertainment, photographer – WOW – so much to do. But I don’t fear. My special buddy Speedy is going to help me out – Thanks Speedy! You are the bestest!
.
Oh, you’re probably asking who the lucky lady is or some of you might already know.
That’s right it’s my Nylablue – the love of this little piggies life. Aaww – love struck. Isn’t she beautiful? She’s been feeling a little sick lately but she is a lot better now for our date.
I’m going to show her the world! We’re going out this weekend. We’ll post ALL about it on Monday, March 10, 2014 so mark your calendars to check our pages out. You might find some interesting tidbits – you never know.
You voted for it and the two winners were Benedict and Rockelle for their hot date on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2014. The day started off with a lot of primping, planning and excitement. Manny and Bashful helped Benedict get ready for the day as Princess Coralena and Virginia helped Rockelle.
The day started off with the exchanging of some gifts. In the picture to the left, Benedict gave Rockelle a special box of chocolates telling her how he feels. Notice, “You Caught My Eye” was written on the box. Nice touch Benedict! In the picture to the right, Rockelle gave Benedict a red hot love ducky because she went quackers for him. Nice touch Rockelle.
.
Then, it was time for dinner. Mom and dad researched a lot of restaurants that would be unique for the happy couple. Something that touched both of them in
a different way. Something that made them think of their homelands. You know since Rockelle is from Australia and Benedict is
from the United Kingdom. A place maybe they didn’t have from their birth places but something that was unique to the United States. Then the light bulbs went off in their heads and they knew of the perfect place. Reservations were made and mom/dad (AKA the chauffers for the night) then bundled the two up for their romantic dinner.
Yep, that’s right. They went to Hooters on Tara Boulevard. The night started off with some shots in the picture to the left. After a few shots, Benedict and Rockelle loosed up a bit and started talking about their feelings for each other. In the picture to the right, you can tell that there was a magnetic pull to each other. Perhaps love was starting to erupt?
.
. They did a few shots to loosen up – you know liquid courage. Hooters is a great place that plays a variety of different music. Once they were loosed up, they were rocking to the music. Benedict asked Rockelle to dance. They did the electric rock slide and the pebble shuffle… you know instead of the two step or twerking.
.
.
.
After the shots and all of that dancing, they thought they might need to get something on their stomachs. You know drinking without eating makes one light headed and who knows what would roll around then? They started with some buffalo shrimp. Who needs utensils? It is finger food so they both dived into the plate. Benedict was such a gentleman and actually wiped some sauce off of Rockelle’s face. Of course the proper way would have been by using a napkin instead of using his tongue. But she seemed to like it.
.
Both liked fish so they decided to order the big fried fish sandwich. It was enough to share. And there is a reason that it’s called the big fish sandwich. Do you see how big that fish is? This was certainly one that didn’t get away and was a keeper. Benedict started on one side and Rockelle started on the other side. They met in the middle. And the little round things are tater tots. It’s often been said that Benedict looks like a potato so it isn’t a shocker that he absolutely loved the tots.
And Hooters, they are known for their wings. Yeah, that’s right. They’re known for their delicious wings. They got some of those to try as well. What’s a great night out if you don’t have lots of food. And they were there for several hours getting to know each other. The wings were fried, breaded and medium – mmmm – Rockelle loved them.
And, of course there is one more thing you have to do when you are at Hooters. I’m not sure if you are familiar with this restaurant. The staff is wonderful, gracious and very out going. They were wonderful to Benedict and Rockelle on their special date night. And since this was their first time at the restaurant, they wanted to give them a memory in a picture. So, they all decided to have their picture taken with the special couple.
Notice the two in the picture. And the girls were gorgeous. But after the photograph, Benedict assured Rockelle that she was the beauty and he only had eyes for her. aaww – way to go Benedict!
After they left Hooters, they didn’t want the date to end. They decided they needed something sweet. And again, Benedict came through. While they were in the back seat, mom/dad overheard Benedict tell Rockelle there was nothing they could get that would be sweeter than her. I think by this point they were holding hands as well.
They decided they wanted ice cream so mom/dad (AKA Chauffers) took them to Baskin Robins where they enjoyed a scoop of snickers ice cream. By this time, they wanted to sit at a separate table from mom/dad so they could talk by themselves. Mom and dad heard a lot of giggles so it seems they were getting along great.
Date night must have went really well because the next morning, Benedict and Rockelle were seen in the kitchen sharing a heart shaped doughnut. This special date night might be the start of something fabulous – maybe even a great relationship like Bogey and McCall. One never knows.
So friends, pat yourselves on the backs for a wonderful twosome.
I would like extend a special thank you to Mike Fiely the manager at Hooters and his wonderful staff located at 6785 Tara Boulevard, Jonesboro. Ya’ll really helped this little piggy out in making this special date night one to remember for my pet rocks. I would say, “You Rock!”
Welcome to my 13th Tales of Terror. Today I have a really good one for you. I hope you are brave enough to read it… and survive without wetting your pants – snorts. Today, I’m going into a different direction that I hope you enjoy. This past weekend was so beautiful that we actually went outside on the back deck of the Hotel Thompson and spent some time around a firepit. Don’t worry about me – I was safe with my mommy around the fire – snorts. But as we were out there, campfire stories started to be told. I thought I would share one that scared this little oinker beyond belief. Buckle up your belts. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.
There was a family that lived in a huge antebellum home in the south. They had two adorable children that were elementary school aged, a little boy and a little girl. The parents thought they would go out on a date – something they had not done in a very long time. They called a friend of theirs that had a teenage daughter that offered babysitting services. She advised that she would love to sit for them on their date night.
The date night came and the babysitter came over. The husband and wife went over all of the emergency numbers and schedule with the babysitter. The husband advised her that with the house being so huge, they would prefer her to stay in the play room. The play room was huge with everything you could image. A big screen television, a satellite, computers, games, etc.
After the parents left, the babysitter played with the children for a while and then it was bedtime. She got them settled in their rooms and told them stories to help them go to sleep. Afterwards, she went down to the play room for the remainder of the night.
She settled in and looked around the room. In the far right hand corner, there was a children’s rocking chair with a clown sitting in it. She shivered. The clown was scary. It seemed to watch her every move. No matter what she did, the clown just seemed like it was watching her. At times, she thought it was moving. But it couldn’t, right? It was just an ugly scary looking clown. She couldn’t figure out why the couple would have it but then again this was a play room so each to their own.
Finally, she couldn’t take it any longer. She called the father on his cell phone and asked him if she could move to another room because this clown was freaking her out. The father told her to quietly get the children, get out of the house and go next door to the neighbor. What? She didn’t understand why but she did what she was told. A few minutes later after getting to the neighbor’s house, she saw flashing lights and police cars arrive at the house she just came from. What in the world was going on?
A few minutes more passed and then the parents of the children came home and immediately came next door. She was so confused. She asked the father what was going on next door. That’s when the dad told her the news that still shakes her to this day. For weeks, the children had been having nightmares about waking up and seeing a scary clown in their bedrooms watching them. The parents thought it was just that – nightmares. And then when she called about the clown in the play room watching her, they knew the nightmares were not nightmares but actually true.
You see, they didn’t have a scary looking clown doll in the play room. The scary looking clown was actually a little person dressed up like a clown that had actually been living in the huge antebellum house for weeks waiting for the right time to kill the family.
Like everyone else, sometimes mom/dad just need some time alone to regroup and breathe. Yesterday afternoon, they left me alone for a couple of hours. I know – I wasn’t too keen about it before hand. But, they fed me early, loved on me, tucked me into my bed with the remote for my television and said they were going out on a ‘date night’ and not to wait up.
They ended up going to Lake Lanier Islands and having a night time picnic. Look at this amazing picture mom took of the sunset. Beautiful isn’t it? Almost – ALMOST made me want to go… if it wasn’t outside – snorts.
Miniature pot bellied pig and friends - Bacon, Houdini, Hemi and all of the Rock Clan with Journalist Rocky the Squirrel all out looking for adventures from the Hotel Thompson.
