31 Days of Spook – The Curse of the Sorry Rocks

Welcome my friends to 31 Days of Spook.  Today’s Curse of the Sorry Rocks is submitted by my Auntie Sharon from Gentlestitches.  Are you ready to be spooked – remember as always, my hoof is there for you.  Happy shivering.

The area around Uluru in outback Australia had an unusual rainfall before we arrived last week. This resulted in a desert land with scatterings of plant life to be transformed into a carpet of wildflowers. Did I take some cuttings home to add to my own carefully crafted Australian wildflower garden?

I DID NOT!

Let my explain briefly………………

The area of and around Uluru is considered sacred. The Anangu people are the legal custodians. Visitors are welcomed but expected to act in a respectful way.

Visitors are allowed to take photographs and that is all. It is a 5000 dollar fine if caught with any sands or rocks but even so that alone doesn’t always deter people.  What does deter people is

THE CURSE OF THE SORRY ROCKS.

Every year, rocks, sand and vegetation, often very small, are returned to the Katatjuka National Park head quarters with letters of apology. It seem either the people’s guilt or the curse, led to misfortune and misery of some kind and they want to atone.

So we took photos and made friends with camels. All of whom were “rescue camels” and very well looked after.  (my camels name was Lasseter because he was found wandering around the Lasseter highway)  When you are a visitor you should respect your host, particularly if there is a well documented curse if you don’t.

Journey with Friends

Welcome my friends to our weekly issue of Journey with Friends.  This is a time that we come together for support, for encouragement, for fellowship – all with one single goal in mind – to live better.  Welcome to our journey to share our goals and our accomplishments and our disappointments and frustrations.

Together we can do this!

Hey my friends.  How did you do last week?  I’m still bouncing right along trying to cook more at home, eating better and walking when I can. Sometimes I get too focused on something and overdo.  Do you know what I mean?  Since a couple of weeks ago when I tweaked my way of eating a bit and not pushing myself so much to do walking, I’m feeling and doing better.  Funny how that works huh?  But sometimes there are days still when the little devil sits on your shoulder and says, “Go ahead, eat that chocolate.  It doesn’t matter.”  I think we all fight the devils here/there in our life.  Let’s all of us get the things off of our chest that need to be out there.

.  I will not let people get me down.  I will not cringe over the little things of extra work on my desk, more bills that need to be paid, kids schedules or deadlines.  I will not play your high school games.  I will not let the devil overtake my life.  I will not curse in traffic.  Today I will put my head up high.  I will be me – take it or leave it.

Now my friends, how was your week?  Do tell and list some of the things that will *not* get you down this week ❤

Paw Time with Houdini

Friends – can we bark?  Moms do the silliest things.  No reason – I’m being honest.  Now I’m a pooch and I’m *never* going to turn down a toy…not evah!  But sometimes, I think we need to discuss parameters.

Let’s take a look at this picture.  It’s called Silly Bums Junior.  Look closely at the picture… “Nothing BUTT fun for your dog”.  Shaking my Yorkie head.  Friends, this is the hind leg quarters of a chicken… two legs, the back side and big fluffy tail.  No head, no arms, no nothing – just the BUM.

Now when me and dad had “the” conversation a couple of weeks ago and he said one day I would like a bit of a$*!)$, this is not what I expected or the picture he drew.  What?  Don’t all anipals go through that ‘talk’?

But let me get back on point.  This is the stuffed toy that mom brought me home one day.  Now it has a squeaky toy.  It has crinkles.  It’s furry.  And let me just say that I tore that ass up because that toy is no more – barks with puppy laughter.

And with all of that talk behind me, I do kiss my mommy with that mouth.  See I love my mommy and she loves me.  She even closes her eyes when she kisses me.  That’s love, right?

So I hope your day is wonderful my friends and I hope that your weekend is even better.  We are all expecting a package here at the Hotel Thompson and I’m hoping that it comes tomorrow.  Keep your paws, fingers or hooves crossed that it gets here in time cause we can’t wait to get it.

I know that sounds mysterious but once we get it in hand, we will definitely share with you what it is.  Any thoughts?

And of course, I leave you with Jokes with Daddy.  Hope you enjoy! ♥
