Spotlight Thursday
Welcome my friends to SPOTLIGHT THURSDAY. This is the time that I will introduce you to one of my fellow anipals so you can get to know them better. Some of them, you may already know. We hope that you enjoy this series!
Name: Cupcake
Age: 9 – but I’ve heard 9 is the new 5
Location: New Jersey
Web/Blog Page: Cupcake
What were your first thoughts when you met your new parents? When Mom walked by my cage, I was saying the word, “Please. Please. Please. Please….” The first 82 times, she didn’t hear me, but then finally, MAGICALLY – she did, and she said, “This is the one! This is my new dog!”
What was the defining moment when you knew you were in your forever home? After living on the street and in a shelter for the first few years of my life, the night Mom brought me home and I popped onto the couch, and she laughed at me and hugged me, I knew that cuddly place was the perfect home for me.

What has been your biggest “Oh no, now I’ve done it” moment so far in your home? One morning, when I first came here, Mom forgot to push in her chair, when she got up to get something from the kitchen. I hopped onto her chair, climbed onto the table, and TOOK HER MEDICINE. It was delicious. It was less delicious a few minutes later when ASPCA Poison Control told her how to induce vomiting. My advice: If you’re lucky enough to get on the table, skip the pills and go straight for the scrambled eggs.
Who do you have wrapped around your paws more – mom or dad – and why? I don’t have a dad, so Mom is wrapped double-strength around my paws. I can tell because whenever I turn my big brown eyes on her and stare with that blank look I have, treats and snuggles come my way. She thinks I’m irresistible!
What’s the biggest misconception that humans think about you? People think I am tortured when Mom dresses me up. You know – because I’m a dog and dogs are…. well…. dogs. But the truth is that like my friend Houdini I LOVE dressing up! When Mom puts a dress on me, I know that means something fun is about to happen – we’re going somewhere, getting company, or doing something special. So bring on the tutus, bandanas, sundresses, and sweaters because this girl is ready to party.

Hope you enjoyed meeting my friend – check back next week for another Spotlight edition!

Welcome my friends to blogville’s first annual Anipal Appreciation Day. Me and my Cousin Sammy have collaborated together to initiate this day every year on February 15th. What better time to get together and share the love than the month of February.
Rules for Anipal Appreciation Day:
- Post your Anipal Appreciation Day blog on FEBRUARY 15, 2016.
- Title your blog Anipal Appreciation Day.
- Put the badge below on your blog post for the day.
- Give shout outs not only in the posting of your blog but throughout the day with the comments you may get. There is no set number of shout out’s you are required to do – let your heart lead you. We are *not* leaving anyone out. If you don’t make the post on a blog, be sure to check messages and comments throughout the day that people and anipals might leave.
- If you can, link back your shout outs in your blogs for them to find.
- HAVE FUN! This is the most important rule – have FUN and share the LOVE!

Cousin Sammy – I’ve known him for years now. He is a great guy – a bestest friend and always willing to lend a helping paw. He goes out of his way to make you feel loved and welcomed even though at times I know he doesn’t feel well. And you know what? He gets that from his humans. And technically, he and I *may* be related somewhere down the road with his parents and my parents being second, third or fourth cousins or something.
Brother Easy – Dude! He is funny, he is kind, he is a hoot and he has the hardest job keeping his staff in line with their own antics. And you know what? Any time you need something, he is always there for you with a helping paw.
Felix – Now we all know the regular guys from Fozzie’s world – Dinnermintz, Doc, Forrest, Marbles, Cleo, Jacque, Pickles and Oscar (Did I miss anyone?) Do you know Felix? I mean all of this clan hold a special place in our hearts here at the Hotel Thompson but Felix especially. Why? Because Felix gave up some wool and Fozzie gave it to another person that is special in our hearts – Auntie Sharon. Auntie Sharon then spun that beautiful wool and made Fozzie, herself and my mom a scarf to keep their necks warm in the cooler weather. In fact, my mom calls her scarf Felix. Cool huh? You gotta love this bunch from down under ❤
Shoko and Kali – WOWZER! These are the coolest cats I’ve met in Canada. You know what is even more cool – if that’s possible? My mom/dad have met their mom/dad in real life. Yep nods head. They have and they had a BLAST together. Talk about laughing until your tummy hurts. They are all a cool bunch!
Reilly and Denny – They are an awesome duo that live in a wonderful place full of beaches, sand and the sun. They are beyond creative in finding their adventures from trails, their backyard (minus the snakes please) to roaming the beaches looking for trinkets to keep. I would love to hang out with these and have fun running and exploring.
Cupcake – I’ll let everyone in on a secret with something about Cupcake. The little pooch here – Houdini – has a *thang* for Cupcake. He loves her. He pulls her blog up and watches her picture for hours dreaming about running, playing and watching the movie Lady and the Tramp together. Shakes piggy head. He has it bad.
Dante – You talk about big things coming in little sizes – this is that. Dante is what maybe 6 pounds (kind of like Houdini) and has the biggest heart. He is always inspiring us to be nicer – to do more – to smile and give love. And in this day and time, we need all of the love we can share. Right?
Little Binky – Smiling and shaking my head. I love Little Binky and his granny. I watch him in his backyard looking around and playing around his new house.
Sam – Did you know that Sam is part of a therapy team with his mom? He brings smiles to patients in a hospital and hospice care. I’m telling you my friends, Sam brings a smile to my face just reading his blog and his adventures. He’s a friend that is always giving and giving.
Of course, the list can go on and on and on for days. These are just ‘some’ of the people that have touched our lives here at the Hotel Thompson. It is in no way – ALL. In fact, throughout the day, I’m sure I will be adding more and more here and there and in the comments. We love you ALL here in blogville. And believe it or not, YOU have touched our lives here. You bring smiles to our faces, you touch us when we are down, you make us laugh/snort. We talk about you to our friends – which is hilarious to here. Yes, YOU are a HUGE part of our lives. Each and everyone – from being listed to those that maybe we don’t even talk to but every couple of days. YOU inspire us. YOU hold a special place in our heart. We grieve with you. We laugh with you. We joke with you. YOU ARE FAMILY MY FRIENDS.

Oh my sweet friends – I hope you had a wonderful LONG weekend – a happy one with lots of rest and relaxation. I did – snorts – but I can’t say the same for my humans. You see, my humans have been slackers lately. There I said it and they know it’s true. Mom has been playing catch up with so many things that she has been juggling in her life. Finally, I had to sit her down this weekend and have a human to piggy talk with her. She has to catch up… like NOW. So Saturday, I made her finish doing some shopping for me. I have so many things to get sent out… you know a piggy has to put his hoof down, righ
t?
But first up – I think I have forgotten something to post about Bashful. I’m sure some of you saw where when he came back from Australia this past time he had a son named Chip. Who can deny that parentage with the matching grin, huh? You can check the post out here of when Bashful came home. He had a ball in Australia visiting Fozzie while they went on vacation to the Great Barrier Reef. But they also found out about Bimby having his baby out of wedlock when they did the movie “Rockadile Dundee”. Long story short, Bimby went into rehab (bless her heart) and Bashful signed paperwork taking custody of his son Chip. Chip was just a mere baby when he came home here to the Hotel Thompson so we’ve had to get him through the diaper stage – unbelievable how much water a little rock
can make my friends. Shakes piggy head.
And of course when Bashful came home, not only did he have his son Chip but he also came home with Hudson. See, I don’t believe I posted about this. It’s been so crazy here at the Hotel Thompson over the past several months! Hudson is adorable, isn’t he? All the way from Australia and what a cute little accent. He has been hanging out here with the other pet rocks and has a cute little chemistry with Rockelle who is also from Australia – who would have guess huh?.

You see I’m telling you all of this because I *finally* got mom to get all of my shopping done so that we could send out not only Bashful but his son Chip to the next person on the list. So you see this bag to the right? There are four envelopes in that bag that got mailed out this morning from the good ole United States Postal Service. One of them contain Bashful and Chip.
Three other envelopes are gifts for different friends in blogville. Just who will receive them? What do they contain? Aren’t you excited to see what goes where and who gets what? I know! The anticipation is killing this little oinker. I just hope mom remembered to pack everything I told her and to sign the cards – snorts. Wouldn’t that be hilarious? Maybe not… maybe I need to go ask her to double check.
.
And of course after mommy finished going to the post office, filling out Customs declarations and spending money, she just had to come back to a nice gooey ooey Salted Pecan cupcake. She said that was her payment for standing in line and filling our forms for me. Sure mom – that’s fine. As long as you got my packages out – knock yourself out.
Snorts and oinks my friends. I’ll definitely keep you posted on the travels of my packages 🙂

BOO!
How are you making it my dear sweet friends. Are you enjoying my 31 Days of Spook. Are you getting scared yet? Do you need to hold my hoof? Today I have another great story submission by my pals Mop, Dusty, Billy, Pip, Cupcake and Cocoa. Do you know these happy little guinea pigs from Living the Squeak Life? If you don’t you are surely missing out on some entertainment and adventures. Be sure to visit their blog – and tell them that Bacon sent you.

“Whee went on a little camp not too long ago and stayed in a grand old house once the home of an old Earl. It wasn’t long before whee learned that the hall had many creepy stories hanging over it, wheek! Now whee will share our tale with you. Mop, being our story-teller, will lead this story.
I led my friends up the stairs. There were many grand stairs which led to a large room at the bottom. The perfect place for a wedding. I could already imagine the Bride-Pig coming down here from one side, meeting her father before descending down to meet the Groom-Pig at the bottom of the stairs.
Seemed I wasn’t the only one who thought this! For, what were the odds that on that very day there was a wedding? A beautiful piggy in a gorgeous dress sat at the top of the stairs.
“Sorry!” I squeaked, filled with embarrassment. Pip was rather attracted to the pale grey sow but, I promptly reminded him that she was in a wedding dress. “I didn’t realize that there was a wedding here today.”
She promised that it was okay and so on whee carried. After exploring the hall whee headed back down to where our tour guide waited. “You didn’t tell us there was a wedding today!” Cupcake wheeked, ever the old romantic.
“There isn’t.” He replied.
Whee were horrified! Who was that whee had bumped into? A bit of research soon uncovered a creepy story about an unfaithful Bride-Pig who slept with another boar on the night before her wedding. In a rage the Groom-Pig killed her and she has wandered the halls ever since, looking for the wedding that never was. Is it her who whee saw? The Grey Piggy of the hall?”

Merry Christmas my dear friends and family. WOW – I think I love this holiday. I couldn’t remember much from last year since I was only 3 months old. Last night, mom and dad kept trying to get me to go to bed early. They said that Santa Paws wouldn’t come if I was awake. Me and mom put out cookies and milk for Santa Paws. I then went to bed once they put one of my movies on in my room.
Around 3am I heard knocks and sounds in the front room. It was loud enough to wake me up. I wasn’t sure what was going on in there. It didn’t smell like mom and dad. I was fixing to set off the bacon alarm by squealing when I could sense someone outside my bedroom door. It was a calming feeling. I really can’t explain what came over me. It smelled like cookies, winter time and joy all rolled up in one. Under my door, I could see black boots.
Then it appeared. A cookie was slipped under my door. It was one of the cookies I left out for Santa Paws. I then heard a gruff voice say, “Be a good boy Bacon and go back to sleep.” I couldn’t believe it. This man knew my name!? I ate my cookie and snuggled deeper in my bankie. I slept so soundly that it was morning before I knew it.
Who knew that Santa Paws really existed! I was shocked. I do believe!
When I did get up, I’ve been so calm. I’ve eaten my lunch and do you know what mom gave me? A miniature cupcake.

She told me to open my little mouth and I did. She then put this delightful little morsel in my mouth. It was delicious!! The cake was soft and the icing squishes between my teeth. I’ve never had anything like that before. It was awesome and I think I want another one.
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas Day. Right now, I’m stretched out in the sofa with mom watching television.
I love you my friends and family. Hogs and kisses – Bacon
