31 Days of Spook – The Legends of the Mont’s d’ Arree

Hello ghostly friends.  Today we have a guest submission.  This is from my brother Easy across the pond.  And what a delicious hands on tale with pictures.  I do so hope you enjoy it.  Try not to shake too much.

The Legends of the Mont’s d’ Arree

Located in the middle of Finisterre, the Monts d’ Arree are the natural border between north and south of Finisterre. This area is the bretagne bretonnante, the heart of Brittany.

And the time stands still there… literally, you can google it, with all our modern stuff, satellites, radio masts and whatnot, here NO cell phone works.  The area is occupied by goblins, druids and some creatures of the darkness.

At night the stone carvings of Ankou, the death, come back to life and therefore all hikers and wanderers avoid the abandoned buildings you can find even in the darkest forest and far away from civilization.

If you enter such a house, you never will leave it… even when you run like the wind or a Weimaraner… just saying.

There also is one of the sneakiest bogs, the Yeun-Elez. Legend has it that the devil hid his treasures once there and those who want to get rich will die trying. The  Prince of Darkness will grab the gold diggers by their legs and he will drag them into eternal darkness.  Even the entrance to hell, Youdig, is here in this bog….butt no worries, the devil is not at home he is on the way to Lac St. Michel where another creature of the night lures for fresh victims.

Do you wonder why there is foam on the water? That’s because the lake is the playground of the Kannerezed Noz, the washer women of the night. They come out at night to wash the burial garments of recently passed people.

If you meet them, you have to wash the garments with them till dawn… if you can’t stand this they will break your arms and throw you in the lake.

Every year around Howl-o-ween, the druids come to this places to celebrate their annual samhain and a lot of people of the Gorsedds of Bards from Wales, Awens of Cornwall or Scotland  or the Goursez Breizh visit this area for their rituals and it is common here  to see people in white, blue, red or green robes who wander through the bog or the mountains. We don’t laugh at them.  We greet them and leave them alone.  You never know where humbug ends and magic begins…. specially here… tout commence à  finisterre.

HAPPY SHOCKTOBER

You’ve Been Kidnapped – Who Will Rescue You?

I recently saw this question posted on Facebook and could not resist sharing it here with you my friends.  You are kidnapped and the characters from the last television show are mounting a rescue.  Who are they?

Me – snorts – that would be the folks from Gilligan’s Island – you know the Skipper, Gilligan, the Professor, Mr and Mrs. Howell, Ginger and Mary Ann.  What does that mean.  It means I’m never getting rescued – snorts with piggy laughter.

Mom/Dad – This is hilarious.  Mom/dad watch this show at night when they go to bed called Mountain Monsters. They love that show!  You’ve got the guys – Trapper, Jeff, Willy, Wild Bill, Buck and Huckleberry.  They are from the West Virginia area and track down mysterious sightings of weird creatures and of course Bigfoot.  Their team is called AIMS (Appalachian Investigators of Mysterious Sightings).  This is going on their 3rd season.  If anything, mom/dad’s rescue would be a hoot full of excitement and adventure. Below I found a picture off the internet on the Destination America website.  Look at these guys – don’t you want to be rescued by them too?

Are You Burning Up Yet?

Okay, I have to start first by saying Happy Monday.  I hope everyone had an awesome weekend.  Second of all, it’s hot.  H.O.T.  I do not like the heat.  Shakes head – it’s just not for me.  I get questions at times about my ‘magical’ backyard and what it looks like.  I thought I would kill two birds with one stone.  You ask how?  Looking at cold pictures makes me feel cooler.  I’m going to share some snow pictures of my kingdom from a while back.  Tell me that this backyard doesn’t look mystical and magical.

Now, look at this picture.  It was snowing in it and although you can’t really *see* the snow, you can see the woods beyond.  Doesn’t it just look inviting for all of the creatures that live back there in that paradise?

Can you understand now about that magical place back there in the woods?  The tall trees, all of the over growth that might happen in the warmer months.  In the cooler months, it just looks mysterious.

There’s really no telling what lives back there.  I still say to this date that I’ve seen Bigfoot back there.  I know I’ve at least heard his grunts!

And I’ve told you before about mom’s obsession liking of the mouse that wears gloves – that Mickey Mouse.  He’s even in the back yard on the back deck.  From this picture, you can see how much snow we had back there.  Doesn’t it make you shiver just a bit?  I already feel so much better just looking at this picture.

Have I said that I hate heat?

I thought I would throw this in for our barky friends 🙂  This is Honey Bear.  Honey Bear was a chow mix.  She was so loving, very sweet and very kind.  She lived at the Hotel Thompson – see I told you we had a zoo here – snorts.

She has since gone over the rainbow to animal heaven.  Wasn’t she beautiful?

And I saved the best for last.  Now you can tell how far the obsession idolization craziness fondness goes for that little mouse.  Go ahead, check out the Hotel Thompson.

When you are done laughing – snort – tell me that picture doesn’t cool you down a couple of degrees.  There’s nothing like snow in the summer – right?

And, after looking at these pictures of nature, do you understand why I’m an inside piggy?

Happy Monday my friends!  XOXO – Bacon

I *Knew* They Existed

I’ve been saying that my backyard is a mysterious and wonderful place full of woods and creatures of the unknown.  It should have magical unicorns that poop the rainbow…. not slithery things without fur that run around hissing at people that cross its path.

This weekend, I looked out my window and finally saw this special creature.  I swear it winked at me.  Then just to make it more special, it pooped the rainbow before it ran back into the woods.

See, I told you I had a mysterious back yard full of woods and whimiscal creatures. 🙂
