Are You Ready for Some Bowl Games??

First off, let’s talk about the most important bowl game today – Puppy Bowl. The show starts promptly at 3PM on the Animal Planet.  If you’ve never seen the Puppy Bowl, you really need to watch it today.  It is totally awesome and keeps me busy cheering for hours.  Daddy has his game later today (which I’ll tell you about in a minute) and I have my game with the Puppy Bowl.

And don’t think that the Puppy Bowl is just about a lot of puppies on the screen doing nothing.  There’s actually a referee, puppy touchdowns, penalties, timeouts and substitutions.  That’s right – it’s a Puppy Bowl to see!

The rules are easy.  Puppies go on the field and when a puppy drags one of the football shaped toys into the end zone, a puppy touchdown is declared.  If a puppy has an accident on the field by ‘going to the bathroom’, a penalty is called.  If the water bowls need to be refilled or puppies get into a fight, timeouts are called.  And, you know what they call it when the puppies get into squabbles?  Unnecessary rrruuufffness.  Snorts.  And if the puppies fall asleep, substitutions are sent in to play.

Over the years, they’ve had different ‘cheerleaders’.  In the past, I’ve seen hedgehogs, bunny cheerleaders, chicken cheerleaders and my favorite in 2012 was the Piggy Pep Squad.  Personally, I think they need to bring the Piggy Pep Squad back.  I would *so* want to try out  for the team.  I think I have what it takes.  I have the look.  I have the chemistry.  I have the personality.  I can dance.

But if the Puppy Bowl doesn’t it do it for you, you can always wait for dad’s game later today at 6:30PM.  THE Super Bowl.  Two really good teams will be going head to head – New England Patriots vs Philadelphia Eagles.

And don’t forget the half time show on the Super Bowl either.  This year they are going to have Justin Timberlake performing.

And the other thing about the Super Bowl, you *have* to watch the commercials.  They are usually the most hilarious commercials to remember for the night.  So my friends, get your snacks and drinks ready.  Go to the potty early so you can enjoy all of the fun today.  Get comfy on the couch.  I’m going to be watching the shows all day long.  And hopefully, mom will pop me some popcorn.

Are you ready for some football!?

This year, we have extra shout outs for the Atlanta Falcons since they are our home team.  Rise Up!!  Who will you be cheering for?  Are you pulling for Tom Brady or Matt Ryan?

And don’t forget the half time show on the Super Bowl either.  This year they are going to have Lady Gaga performing.

Tootsie Roll Pops

Do you remember the commercial for Tootsie Roll Pops back in the day.  You know the one with, “How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop?”  And then the owl licks and counts, “One, Two, and then crunch – three.”  Snorts with piggy laughter.  That commercial kills me.  I wasn’t born when it originally came out but the other night here at the Hotel Thompson we were watching old commercials.  It was great – some of them were hilarious.

But it got me, mom and dad talking.  What were some of your favorite flavors of the Tootsie Roll Pop?  But better yet, what flavor would you have loved to have had for a Tootsie Roll Pop?  Mom and dad came up with:  Pineapple, butter pecan and coconut.  What do you think about those flavors?

Tell me my friends.  What flavors would you have loved to have seen and had?

Dear Bacon

Dear Bacon – Oh dude!  What a game that Super Bowl was over the weekend.  OMD!  I dressed up in a disguise – you know like from the Super Bowl commercial – and was able to get a ticket to see football up front and personal.  Cats against horses – you know those Broncos were going to win – Go Peyton Manning!  What did you think of the game bro?  Signed Mr. Waddles

Dear Mr. Waddles – Love your disguise.  I can see how you got in to see the game in person.  And what a game it was!  I was sitting on the edge of my chaise the entire night rooting for the Broncos.  I’m not sure who was happier – me or dad when they won!  Heck, I jumped on the internet and went ahead and bought dad a Super Bowl 50 Bronco hat – of course with his credit card – snorts with piggy laughter.

Dear Bacon – Dude, you have never experienced life until you stretch out in a hammock and just relax the day away.  In fact, I think your humans should buy you a piggy hammock.  I bet you would enjoy it.  Signed Swinger

Dear Swinger – WOW – you do look really comfy there my friend.  I’m thinking that this Spring/Summer here at the Hotel Thompson, mom/dad might just need to get me a hammock for my magical backyard.  They can put it on the back deck so I can over look new discoveries.  Thanks for the heads up my friend.  Keep on swinging!

Dear Bacon – I think I partied way too much during the Super Bowl game.  I remember eating some snacks.  I remember chugging some beer after playing beer pong.  That’s it.  Afterwards, the next morning I woke up with a cold one still in my paws.  Shaking my doggy head – I gotta quit partying like this.  Signed Born to be Wild

Dear Born to be Wild – Dude, when you stop remembering your actions from the night before, it’s way past time to stop drinking.  Just be lucky you didn’t wake up with someone else in your bed.  Oh my – can you imagine that?  Shaking my piggy head.  Safety first my friend.  You might need to reach out to DAA (Doggy Alcoholics Anonymous).  I’m sure they can help you.

Dear Bacon – OMD OMD OMD.  Sometimes this little red light laser thingy gets the cats going on here at my crib.  But tonight, that crazy red light kept popping up on the ceiling in my kitchen.  I couldn’t have that unidentified red light breaching my food.  So I did what any dog would do, I jumped up at it to catch and destroy the red light.  I must have caught it because it went away.  Have you ever seen this red light?  Signed White Dogs Can Jump

Dear White Dogs Can Jump – Look at you my friend!  I’d say you took care of that red dot.  I’ve seen it before too here at the Hotel Thompson.  It’s very mysterious when it shows up and then disappears for what seems like weeks.  Do you think it’s an alien trying to impersonate us anipals?  It’s so weird!

Dear Bacon –  A gal can only take so much from her man.  Mr. Endless Nagging kept going on and on about such nonsense – I couldn’t take it anymore and lost myself in the moment.  I don’t think he will bother me for a while – do you?  Signed That’ll Teach You

Dear That’ll Teach You – Heck woman – it taught me not to nag you – snorts with piggy laughter.  Whatever happened to if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all?  Cause, trust me your man needs to learn that little tidbit of information.  And hey – you got a great right by the looks of it.

REMEMBER MY FRIENDS – Dear Bacon can’t happen without YOU.  Remember to send me your letters and pictures to my email.

Over the years, they’ve had different ‘cheerleaders’.  These little cute hedgehogs holding pom-poms were a huge hit last year.  I’m kind of hoping they make a comeback this year.  Aren’t they just adorably cute?!  In the past, they’ve also had bunny cheerleaders, chicken cheerleaders and my favorite in 2012 was the Piggy Pep Squad.  Personally, I think they need to bring the Piggy Pep Squad back.  I would *so* want to try out  for the team.  I think I have what it takes.  I have the look.  I have the chemistry.  I have the personality.  I can dance.

Favorite Super Bowl 2014 Commercial

Before we go ahead with *the* Super Bowl, let’s talk about the Puppy Bowl.  What a game!  Awesome half time with Keyboard Kitty.  Awesome penguin cheerleaders.  BOTH teams came to play – snorts – unlike *the* Super Bowl.  And I loved the part where it showed the forever homes for the previous game players.  Excellent Puppy Bowl X.

Now about the Super Bowl.  The Super Bowl last night was the Seahawks vs Broncos.  Let’s not talk about the game.  Puts my little piggy head down in disgust.  I was rooting for the Broncos.  It’s like they didn’t even show up!

Since the game was over before it started – snorts, I concentrated on the commercials and the half time show.  Let’s talk about the half time show first.  It rocked.  I love me some Bruno Mars.  The Red Hot Chili Peppers not so much.  Maybe it was the one song they played – shrugs pig shoulders – not sure.  But Bruno kicked it – literally.  That guy has some foot movement!  It was great – probably one of the best I’ve seen in my 2.5 years – snorts.

Now, the commercials.  There were lots of commercials to review.  Some I absolutely loved and some I hated with a piggy passion.  My top were (in no particular order):

Ellen Degeneres playing Little Red Riding Hood.  Did you see the piggies in the commercial? Squeal!  You just know when she gets to condo with the bears they are going to huff and puff and blow her down – oops wrong Fairy Tale – snorts.

Then Pappa Bear says, “Play it” and they all break out dancing.  That was a hoot.  We all laughed at this one at the Hotel Thompson.

.

Then there was the Audi commercial about ‘no compromises’ where two people are at the adoption agency. One wants a Doberman and the other wants a Chihuahua thus they compromise on a mixture of the two.  Thus you get the Doberhuaha.

I have to admit that we laughed at the Doberhuaha.  It reminded me of Scrappy from Scooby Doo.  You see it now?  Snorts.

.

The VW commercial.  OMP (oh my pig).  Snorts.  It’s hard for me to even type this because I’m snorting so hard.  VW turns 100,000 miles and when it does the people that make the cars get their ‘wings’.  That’s what the dad tells his daughter in the car.  The daughter is like yeah right and says, “And I guess at 200,000 miles they fart the rainbow?”  AND it starts to show them farting rainbows.  Okay maybe I don’t have it verbatim but it was hilarious!  I looked at daddy and said, “How much mileage you got old man?”  Snorts

.

My favorite commercial the entire night at the Hotel Thompson was for the new Butterfinger Peanut Butter cups – which might I add are AWESOME!  Peanut butter and Chocolate are in therapy and Butterfinger shows up to the couch.

This commercial is freaking hilarious.  You have to watch it – it’s so funny.  And the new Butterfinger Peanut Butter cups – thud – mom/dad down.  They tried one and they LOVE IT.  Mom gave me a small taste and I do mean small.  It’s like a peanut butter cup BUT the filling is butterfinger.  It’s the perfect combination.

So what was your favorite commercial from last night?  Thoughts on those or the game of the Puppy Bowl?

Happy Hump Day

One of my favorite past times at the Hotel Thompson is watching commercials.  I just love them!  You can find me in my bedroom watching them on my television all of the time.  What?  Don’t all piggies have a bedroom of their own furnished with cable.. let alone Netflix?  Have mercy on their souls if they don’t.  *I* can’t live without my luxuries at the Hotel Thompson.  Can you imagine ‘me’ without my laptop or iPad.  How would I ever keep in touch with my cyber friends?  But, that’s probably a posting for another day.  Let’s get back to the commercials.

I love them.  I watch them all of the time.  I have my favorites.  Today, my favorite is the one from Geico.  I have to admit Geico has a really good advertising company that produces their commercials.

They’ve come up from everything from the gecko that talks – to a caveman can do it – to my friend Maxwell now going out on dates!  And we all know why *I* like Maxwell.  Because he’s funny!  But I have to say that yesterday I saw the one that tops almost all of them.  It takes you a few minutes to figure it out but once you do – you will be PRAOTFL (pig rolling all over the floor laughing) as well.  Oinks out to a job well done Geico!  Let me know what ya’ll think – XOXO – Bacon
