Oh my friends – what a week! We’ve all been trying to get mommy feeling better here at the Hotel Thompson. I think she is *finally* getting there. This weekend, there are no plans for any marathon errand runs…. well maybe there is one errand to be completed. Mom has been on mission to find me a new groomer. Someone that can do me more often than every other month and doesn’t cost a kidney. It’s been hard work! I’ve seen her searching and looking. In fact, her and dad even brought me somewhere this week and walked right back out of the place. Mom picked up bad vibes and of course she goes with them. Has your human ever done that?
Well, she found me a place. She called the business and immediately hit it off with the owner – they talked for over 15 minutes about me. I have an appointment to see them tomorrow for the ‘works’. Happy Spa Day to me huh? Of course, the first trip costs the most but after that every month will be half to stay on the maintenance plan. Mom likes that. And of course, I kind of do too for the Spa treatment 🙂 I’ll keep you posted on the progress of my new place.
Also this week, I want to let you know that mom has been cooking more here at the Hotel Thompson. She finally realized that the big hot box on the floor is not a paperweight but a real cooking appliance called the oven… okay those were daddy’s words – barks. One day this week, she made home made Chinese noodles with veggies and meat. And I’ll tell you my friends, it was super good. How do I know? Because mom fed me with chopsticks. You don’t believe me? Look at the pictures below. Mom would click them together and I would immediately open my mouth. Spoiled much? Barks! Of course now.

Well that’s all for me my friends – yawns – I hope you had a wonderful week as well. Happy weekend!
Hello my sweet friends. It’s been a couple of weeks since my last check in here from the Hotel Thompson. We are ALL so glad the renovation is over here. It was amazing and I hope you enjoyed seeing all of the before and after pictures as well as mom’s breakdown of the different phases. I tell you that mother of mine is a scheduler… and a juggler. She kept us all on a strict schedule. Have you see the television shows where they don’t show the home owner the after until it’s finished? That’s what mom/dad did to us anipals here. We all got shipped up the street to Nana’s to spend the night the day of the floor installation. The last thing we remember is the carpet and linoleum. So that Friday after the furniture was delivered, mom came and got us from Nana’s. OMD! Once we got inside of the Hotel Thompson, us anipals couldn’t believe it! It was so new and different. We all thought we were at the wrong house for a bit. So many different changes. We anipals went around and of course had to check things out and mark our territories. So many new things to try out!
Then it happened. Mom told us that we had to be careful of the new flooring and furniture. And of course, daddy put the baby gate back up blocking us from the kitchen. That baby gate is because of Bacon – don’t tell him I told you that. That pig – rolls doggy eyes – he knows how to open the freezer so he can’t go in there anymore. Since he can’t go in there, we can’t go in there. Of course, the cats jump the fence but I’m too little. But when I did get to go in the kitchen to check things out – WOW! I ran and ran and ran around that kitchen island so many times that I got dizzy. It’s so neat!
And of course my favorite piece of furniture is the couch. All of those big puffy pillows – I was in pooch heaven. My personal challenge is to see how many I can knock on the floor before mom/dad realize what I’m doing – barks! And mom’s chaise – WOW! That thing is like a bed for a queen – which my mommy is – 🙂 She keeps this comfy Chinese blankie on it that she wraps up in when she is on it. The other day, I jumped up with her. Yep – see the picture. It was so comfy! And are you wondering what my shirt says? It’s one of my favorites – of course my brother Bacon doesn’t like it but I think that’s what makes it even funnier. The shirt says, “I like bacon on my bacon”. Funny huh?
Well that’s all for me my friends – yawns – I hope you had a wonderful week as well. Happy weekend!
I’ve been telling you my friends that my human dad is off his knocker. I don’t care where he goes, he *always* gets into trouble. You gotta believe me. He is NUTS! I’ll tell you two examples from this past weekend – then you will believe me.
First Example –
Dad and mom went for Chinese food Saturday night. They went to their regular place where they know the staff. Of course during dinner, dad is picking on the waitress and they are laughing up a storm. Towards the end of the meal, the waitress thought daddy was done with his plate and went to get it. Daddy turned around to her and did a Kung Fu fighter stance. THUD! The waitress started laughing so hard that people on the other side of the restaurant turned to look to find out what was taking place. That’s my daddy – nods head.
Second Example –
This same night at the Chinese restaurant, the waitress asked daddy if he wanted anything else. He told her no because he was dancing tonight. Shakes piggy head. Does this man EVER stop? He told the waitress that his stage name was Stretchmarks. Just so you know – I looked him up on line. Here’s a picture of him performing – (oh and daddy – who’s the funny one now? Snorts)
My friend Fozzie and I have scheduled a group posting today of Shopping Around the World. We thought it would be interesting to see the differences between different countries all over. Here are our prices for the following from our area – Georgia USA.
Items to price this month:
Spring/Summer is quickly approaching my friends on this side of the world. On the other side of the world, Autumn/Winter is quickly approaching. That is if Mother Nature starts playing well with others 🙂 It was suggested to post what you pay during this time of year for the month for your heating and/or air conditioning. What temperature do you set your thermostat on? Discuss. Okay we keep it pretty cool here at the Hotel Thompson. Mom likes to hang meat sometimes so daddy has to keep her in check. Our monthly bill is a ‘flat rate’ bill. We pay the same thing every month for 12 months. Sometimes we use more watts than other months but it makes up the difference over the year. We pay right at $205.00 a month in electrical – heating/air conditioning. Our house is totally electric – no gas at all here… unless you count the gas that comes from this oinker – snorts and rolls with piggy laughter.
Meat. Fajita beef. We buy a pound package for $4.99 at the market. It’s already cut in small slices. All you have to do is brown.
Vegetable. Head of cabbage. When we are lucky, we can get this as cheap as $0.29 a pound. This week though we paid $0.49 a pound. An entire head cost us around $1.26 – awesome deal. Have you ever eaten the core of a cabbage? Mom highly recommends it. It has a bit of a spicy flavor and is awesome!
Random Item. A can of peanuts. We buy the store brand for only $2.99 a can.
Homemade Dish. See Below 🙂 This entire meal costs less than $5.00 for two people – and you have leftovers the next day for lunch!
A ‘go to’ dish here at the Hotel Thompson is our version of a Chinese dish. This is easy and takes less than 15 minutes to prepare. It’s a huge hit! We take the fajita beef and brown it in a skillet with a little bit of olive oil. While that is browning, we use two boxes of the Lo Mein noodles that you can buy in the store for $0.99 each. They come with the seasoning packs. You open the packs, fill them with water and microwave them according to the package. While the fajita beef is almost brown, add some chopped up cabbage and cook together. When the Lo Mein noodles are done, pour them into your mixture of fajita beef and cabbage, add the seasoning mix packets, stir together and cover. When the noodles have come together and the cabbage is soft but yet still has a crunch to it, top with peanuts and sesame seeds for taste. There you go – instant meal that will please and is so delicious. Remember to put a little back for lunch the next day. Warms up wonderful!
I hope you had fun my friends with this month’s edition of Shopping Around the World. Hope to see you shopping soon!
My little tyke Bashful has finally landed at his destination… Just where or where in the world was it??
Anybody recognize that rabbit? YEP It’s Speedy! Check out his posting this afternoon for more pictures and what he’s been up to today. In fact, he ate one of my favorite dinners tonight. What is it? Check it out and see my friends!!
Oh piggy heavens! Bashful has made it home from Auntie Sharon in Australia! He came in the mail and of course daddy would not let me open it until mom got home last night from the worky place. It was a funny thing too. It sounded like there was a party going on in that box. In fact, this song was playing.
Snorticles. It was constant. I kind of got used to it and was dancing and singing that catchy little tune myself. When mom came home, I FINALLY got to open the box. Bashful brought home a friend. May I present to you Koishi. Koishi in Japanese means pebble. Here is the Japanese writing for it: 小石 Cool huh? That Koishi is a looker – so pretty and beautiful in her kimono. I know that Princess Coralena, Virginia and Rockelle were all in awe over her outfit. There is a slight language barrier but I think we can get the meaning to a lot of things she is trying to say.
The first thing she wrote was 私は恥ずかしがり屋の愛 which in Japanese language is Watashi wa hazukashi gari-ya no ai. Do you know what that means? I got out my piggy translator and looked it up. It says, “I love Bashful”. Isn’t that the sweetest? That rock of mine certainly has the “IT” factor in picking up the ladies doesn’t he?
All of the rock clans and I stayed up late last night talking and catching up on everything that has been going on here at the Hotel Thompson. It was a late night into the morning but that was okay. It was a stormy night here last night with thunder and lightening. For a while, we lost power and everything was dark. That’s okay though. Koishi settled right beside Bashful and finally fell asleep in his arms. It was adorable!
You gotta see some of the other items that came home with Bashful from Auntie Sharon. First up, this adorable cute little keychain. OMP (Oh m pig!) Mommy fell IN LOVE with this keychain. That soup in the bowl looks so real – like it’s going to pour out at any minute. Isn’t is to die for?!
It’s so cute. We had to put it on display in our curio cabinet. We don’t want anything to happen to it!
Then, there was this headband. Daddy had a FIT about it. He immediately had to take it out of the package and put it on. Snorts – it was too funny. I’ll have to post about that situation next week. When I tell you that daddy of mine is two scoops past crazy – I am not joking. But I do have to give him this. The man has skills. Skills of stupidity but skills. It’s okay though. Mommy took the headband and wrapped it back up to put in our showcase. We don’t want anything to happen to it.
Also in the box were these cute little girls – I think they were made of wood. Help me out Auntie Sharon if I’m wrong. They were adorable! I think perhaps they may look innocent and sweet but I think they were the ones starting up the party in the box with I Think I’m Turning Japanese. Really, snorts, I do.
Of course, mommy put them in the curio cabinet as well. They are too adorable and look so cute in the cabinet with the keychain and headband.
And do you know what else Auntie Sharon found and sent to mom? Minnie Mouse boxes – OMP (oh my pig). I haven’t heard mom squeal that loud in a long time. These two little boxes sit inside of each other. They are precious! Mommy was overly thrilled with them.
We can’t thank you enough Auntie Sharon for hosting Bashful and the wonderful gifts. I really hope that Koishi will be happy here at the Hotel Thompson. I hope I translated this correctly:
Why am I craving Chinese food? Mom says tonight is the end of the year. I told her it couldn’t be – I wasn’t done growing yet. There’s too much for me to see still. I’m only 3.5 months old – not even year. That’s pigdiculous and hoglarious. Snort snort.
So mom finally broke down and told me what happens tonight. She lost me at the peach drop…mmmm I want a peach to eat now. Drop that peach in my bowl please.
So everyone be safe and enjoy the end of the year. I’ll be partying with mom if I can stay up that late.
Miniature pot bellied pig and friends - Bacon, Houdini, Hemi and all of the Rock Clan with Journalist Rocky the Squirrel all out looking for adventures from the Hotel Thompson.
