Guess What Started Yesterday?

The running of the bulls!

WOW – Can you believe it’s already that time of the year again.  Starting yesterday and running through July 14th, starts the Running of the Bulls. Really? People really put their lives in jeopardy to run through the streets of Pamplona, Spain chased by B.U.L.L.S with HORNS. I gotta ask. Are you crazy?! This is not only for one day but it is a annual festival that starts today.

I understand it is a tradition. The first thing they do is take a statue of San Fermin and parade it through Pamplona. This saint is believed to ‘protect’ the runners as they are being chased by the mean bulls. And, it really did look festive on television. They even had musicians playing and singing. And they had people standing on balconies throughout the streets that watched the bulls chasing the humans. Now, I enjoyed the music, the singing and I could even watch.

But, this little pig doesn’t run that fast to participate in the running FROM the bulls – snorts. I would be a nice little snack for them. Shivers. And the actual bull run lasts about four minutes – but still I don’t think this oinker would have a chance.

So instead of ‘running’ from the bulls, I thought I would do it ‘my’ way 🙂

A couple of years ago, I started my own “Running of the Bulls.”  I carried my king size Egyptian cotton sheet from the bedroom into the front room. At times, mommy would hold it for me so I could run through it. You know, like she was fighting a ‘bull’ per say. She would call me a pigatador – snorts. It was fun and kept me busy for some time. Even daddy got into the game playing and would hold it up for me.

It was really fun. I’m not sure who it wore out faster – me, mommy or daddy. Even Hemi, the purr thing here at the Hotel Thompson, got into the action and would run through it. What can I say – we are so easily entertained!

This year, I think we are taking some of this fun out in my magical back yard.  If you see us out there, we are just practicing… nothing to fear yet – evil snorts!

Dear Bacon

Dear Bacon –  Bunyoga – sigh – I highly recommend it.  Me and my friend love to do the Bun-Bun Flat position daily.  Lay on your back, feet up in the air and ears straight out.  It helps to relax all of the muscles in your body.  If you get a chance, try it.  You may just love it and rename is Pig Flat.  Signed Yoga Buns

Dear Yoga Buns – OMP.  I gotta try this position.  I think I can actually do it and like you said ENJOY IT!  Thanks for the tip!

.

Dear Bacon – A lot of times people mistake me for a towel.  I don’t get it. Why would they do that?  Signed Relaxed

Dear Relaxed – Snorts my friend.  I might see a slight resemblance to why they think that.  It might be due to the cute way your entire body just relaxes.  But I have to admit, it brings out that cute little nose of yours – carry on sweet cute friend.

.

Dear Bacon – WOW!  That was deep.  I just read in a book here that dogs like to chase their own tails.  Talk about dumb.  I had to take my glasses off and just think about that for a while.  No wonder us cats are superior to the barky things.  Signed Princess

Dear Princess – Yep, nods head, I’ve seen them do that.  It’s wild to watch.  What’s even funnier – seeing them ‘catch’ it.  Now that is something you don’t want to miss my friend.  Snorts.

Dear Bacon – Just a quick note my friend.  I know your little brother wears clothes a lot too.  I highly recommend it.  Sometimes we get cold going naked and just need a little something more.  It’s one of those things that you don’t knock until you try it.  I like to dress for the occasion and have a closet full of choices.  Tell Houdini the next time he is in my area to stop by.  We can have tea and discuss this years fashion.  Signed Merk

Dear Merk – WOW.  Just WOW.  I’ve never seen a… a… a purr thing wearing clothes.  I can say that I see why you would feel cool and naked without clothes.  And I have to admit that you make that sweater my friend.  It really makes the blue in your eyes pop.  I will definitely give Houdini your message and let him know to call you.  I think you two can become close and tight friends.  Stay warm… and dressed.

.

Dear Bacon – I like to say that not every anipal can carry this look but I know I can.  With my skin texture, my humans had me some specially made sunglasses to protect my eyes.  I think I rock them.  What do you think?  Signed Matrix

Dear Matrix – Hey, do you know Merk above?  I think you two could be fast friends.  And I think protecting your eyes should be number 1.  Number 2 should be covering all of that skin.  You wouldn’t want to get a sunburn.  Stay safe!

Remember my friends that Dear Bacon can’t happen without YOU.  Please continue to send your pictures and letters to my email address. 🙂

Running of the Bulls

WOW – This is all this little pig could oink this past weekend when I saw some coverage that will begin the Running of the Bulls. Really? Me Doing What I Do

20130820-053738.jpg I really thought I was going to have to put a call out for someone to build a boat yesterday.  It rained like there was no tomorrow.  All of us was getting cabin fever of being inside and on top of each other.  Today though, it’s beautiful.  The back yard was freshly cut and mom decided we needed to spend some quality time together outside so we did.

I had to walk around and investigate my kingdom – smelling the grass and sneezing.  And I can tell you it’s the truth.  The camera does put weight on you.  There’s no way my pot belly is that big.  No way at all. But don’t worry.  I did get some exercise in the yard… and so did mom.  I made her chase me around because I wasn’t ready to come in when she was.  Of course, I thought twice when she said – and I say quote, “Fine then, let Mr. Bigfoot get you.”.  I ran past her and inside of the house so fast after that, she almost fell – snorts.

National Thank a Mailman Day

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel here –

“Keeping my paws on the nuts of the world!”

 .

.

Today, February 4th is National Thank a Mailman Day. Do you hear that pups? That means don’t chase the mailman on this date! Instead of chasing the mailman, today gives you a chance to say thank you. They deliver the mail six days a week regardless of the weather either by postal truck and walking routes. Do you remember the old Pony Express motto? “Neither rain, nor snow, nor death of the night, can keep us from our duty!” This motto is believed to be taken in part from a motto dating back to ancient times! You also hear it this way some times, “Through rain or snow, or sleet or hail, we’ll carry the mail. We will not fail.”

So pets near and far away, go sit by the mailbox today. Maybe bring a bone and give it to the mailman. Tell him thank you.

Houdini’s First Toy Destruction

IMG_0546.JPG

If I didn’t know first hand, I would swear that Houdini has been in contact with my brother Easy in France  Why do you ask?  May I present to you exhibit A to the left.  Yes, that is Houdini’s first destroyed doggy toy.  I’m not sure to feel happy for the little tyke on his total destruction or sad that his favorite ball is now gone like the wind.

You see, this *was* – and *was* is a good word – one of his favorite balls. Did I tell you that he learned to play fetch one day last week?  He would bring this ball to mom, she would throw it down the hallway and he would retrieve it.  Houdini and mom played this game for almost 30 minutes to an hour every night.  But now, the toy has went to ball heaven.

But don’t worry, mommy is buying him his very own miniature tennis ball tonight on the way home from her worky place.  Houdini will be back up in action playing fetch in no time!
