((HOGS AND KISSES)) it’s a wonderful and joyous day!
I love Easter. I love everything about it. I love the fun. I love the excitement. I love the actual meaning of Easter. I love it all!
Mom makes is so special for all of us. Mom gave the purr things their little basket. She was going to take a picture of it but too late – they got to it. There was little pieces of grass everywhere from their straw basket. They got cat treats, a bag of Iams – their favorite and a couple of play mice. They were happy – more so for the basket and grass at first – snorts. Silly purr things.
Dad loves his Angry Birds games so this year mom tried to decorate the eggs in their colors. Didn’t turn out as good as last year but dad absolutely loved them. Me, of course I favored the piggy one. What more I favored was what was inside of the egg. Snorts – I do love my food.
And me? You asked what did the Easter Bunny bring me? ALL kinds of goodies.
I got a yearly pot full of my special treats! I noticed last week that my big bucket was MIA (missing in action) here at the Hotel Thompson. That Easter Bunny is sneaky. He must have come in last week and took my bucket to fill up with all of these goodies.
Look in that bucket –
Animal crackers – yes the convenient size – snort.
Yellow squash and eggplant. I love it chopped up and raw.
Carrots – look at the size of those master pieces!
Oranges and apples.
And my training raisins were in the bottom of the bucket. I only get raisins when mom is teaching me new tricks. I guess she’s up to training again.
YUMMY – this pig struck the gold mine! I think personally the Easter Bunny likes me the best, don’t you? But I won’t tell anyone if you don’t.
And we can’t forget about rock clan. The Easter Bunny brought the rock clan what else but Rock Candy!
Everyone is having a blast on this special day. I hope you and yours also have a spectacular Easter my friends!
Today’s Shopping Around the World is being hosted by our cousins Teddy and Angel Sammy from TWOspoiledcats. This month Teddy and Angel Sammy are hosting main meals that do not have meat. Now this is a tough one. Anyone that knows my daddy, knows that he is definitely a meateater. So mom got creative. She told daddy he had to come up with a meatless dinner. HA! It’s not so funny or easy when the job falls on the daddy. Good one mom! So without further ado, this is what daddy came up with for Shopping Around the World.
Dad here. I told the mom I had this one. I can do a meatless dinner. Sure I can. I have that much talent. Okay, maybe it’s not how the mommy does things on Shopping Around the World but I’m a man… give me a break this time okay. So over the weekend since we had a difficult time, I told the wifey I had dinner. That’s when we went to a restaurant called Mellow Mushroom. See, I know you are suppose to cook and post recipes but I do have a visual impairment so I get a learning curve, right? Thanks friends.
We started out by ordering a lil salad to share. It had romaine and iceberg lettuce, shredded carrots, red cabbage, onions, cucumbers, green peppers, mushrooms, Kalamata olives, Roma tomatoes and mozzarella. See that’s a great start. And I added candied pecans for crunch. Yummo! The salad cost $4.49 and there was plenty for me and the missus to share. Sorry for the picture. I forgot to snap it before I dug in.
Now came the hard part. Getting a meal without meat. This was the most difficult choice in my life in some time. I mean heck, first up my wife usually makes my food choices and she knows I like my meat. This body was made for meat! Second up, I don’t do much cooking so I kind of had to cheat and go out since I was challenged with this Shopping Around the World. I thought hard about what to order as a meatless entree. I think I nailed it.
May I introduce you to a large wheat dough Mellow Mushroom pie with an olive oil and garlic base (extra garlic please), fresh mozzarella cheese and black olives – no meats. Doesn’t that look awesome. I also sprinkled it with red pepper flakes. The pizza cost $16.96. And here’s the kicker. Me and the wife like to call this kind of meal, a meal that keeps on giving. There is enough pizza to last a couple of more nights – Deal of the Day, right?
So for a total of $25.00 (including a tip), we have a meatless dinner that lasts three nights for two peeps. So that’s what, $4.17 a person? Not bad for a dude huh? So I hope I pulled off Shopping Around the World this month.
Thanks again to cousins Teddy and Angel Sammy for hosting this month. Sending you much love from the Hotel Thompson ❤
At night, I run around the house when mom gets home from the worky place. Last night was an exceptional fun time. After dinner and washing the dishes, mom prepped my food for the next two weeks. This is *always* a fun time for me. I get to be her sous chef while she works with my food. 🙂 You don’t want to miss this quality mommy piggy time!
She starts off washing my seedless grapes. Those things are sinfully delicious. She pats them dry and sometimes one or two may fall on the floor right in front of me. Funny how that happens. She pulls all of the magnificent grapes off of their stems, puts them in one of my containers and puts it in the magical food box. Last night, one of them rolled under the kitchen table. Mom was laughing because all she could see was my little butt shaking in the air trying to go for the grape. I’m glad I was such amusement for her.
Then mom preps my carrots. Mom says that I *must* have been a bunny in a former life because I LOVE my carrots. They are also scrumptious. She cuts all of them in tiny matchbox sticks and puts them in my giant ziplock baggie. Of course, I get to try some, you know for quality purposes. These also go in the magical food box.
Then mom does my salad mix. I’ve never seen such huge heads of lettuce before. She cuts it all up in tiny bite size pieces and puts it in two of my giant ziplock bags. And, of course, for quality purposes I get to try some. I have to make sure that it tastes good, right? Again, this goes in the magic food box.
Lastly, mom fixes my favorite… okay all of them are my favorites. My favorite though is the personal size watermelon. Thud. I really do love me some watermelon – from the juice, the melon and the rind. They are divine. She cuts all of my melon up, including the rind, and puts it in two of my canisters. I of course get to try it… for quality assurance. I did see dad in there last night trying it as well for quality assurance. See, everyone wins during prep night. She puts this in the big magic food box and she’s done for the next two weeks.
Of course, I eat other things as well but these are all snack and supplements to my piggy chow. There is the occasional apple mom cuts up for me. And then there is popcorn night! Who doesn’t like popcorn night? I can hear that corn popping on the stove all the way in my bedroom. I’ll come running down the hall to get to the kitchen on popcorn night.
After all of this quality assurance during prep night, I disappeared while mom was cleaning the kitchen. She finally found me though. I was curled up hiding in my blankie on the couch. My belly was so nice and warm… and full.
He’s real! Santa Paws came to the Hotel Thompson to see me! Oh my – thud – I almost couldn’t stand it. I’m in hog heaven here at the Hotel Thompson!
This is a list of what I have at the house now and trust me I am so happy – I haven’t had this many goodies in a long time!
8 pounds of red apples – that’s right. It’s not a typo – 8 POUNDS of red apples. I love me some apples… any kind, any color.
5 pounds of carrots – yep that’s another one – 5 POUNDS of carrots. You would think that with all of the carrots that I eat that I would have excellent vision but I don’t. But what I don’t have in vision, I make up in smelling.
Bulk celery – mmm – I love celery… even the little wisps of it that hang off at the top of celery. Love that part!
Cabbage – that is one HUGE head of cabbage. Mom will probably eat some of this cabbage too. But do you know what the battle is going to be? The core of the cabbage. Me and mom both like to naw on the core of the cabbage. Have you ever done that? It’s got a little spice to it and so delicious!
My personal sized watermelon. This is definitely a treat since it’s winter time here in Georgia. Mom will cut it all up and put it in buckets in the refrigerator to get it cold. She even cuts up the rind – I love the rind.
Bananas – You don’t see them in this picture because mom forgot to grab them. She got me a whole bunch of 10 – 10 bananas all to myself. Pig heaven – literally! Can you believe that one time mom was holding a banana and I tried to crawl up her legs to get it? Yeah, we had a little prayer meeting about that afterwards. They are so delicious!
And we can’t forget about Houdini – OMP! Houdini scored with some new clothes, a new bed and all kinds of doggy toys.
And the purr things Mouse Girl and Hemi – they are in love! They got some nip, toys and a huge bag of treats.
And we all got our own electric blanket. Can you believe that?! Mom hooked it up over one end of our sofa so that her and daddy can click it on and off. That way we can all lay on it and get cuddly warm – we all love that.
But you know what we got that was priceless? Love. Not just from mom/dad but from all of you our friends. We can not thank you enough for that. We all ❤ you!! And we thank you all for the emails and Christmas cards that you sent to us here at the Hotel Thompson!
And special thanks to Easy ❤ who sent us these awesome presents:
And special thanks to Fozzie ❤ who sent us these awesome presents:
.
And special thanks to our dear sweet friends Kali and Shoko – ❤ OMP – their parents sent mom/dad something close to their heart – FOOD – snorts with piggy laughter. Okay it was a gift card for FOOD – my daddy still passes out looking at the card. He can’t wait to use them. Thank you so very much my friends! Can’t wait to see you soon.
And squeals!! This just in. We received this in the mail yesterday from Auntie Sharon. A beautiful handmade scarf. But this scarf has a story behind it. The actual “yarn” was shorn from Fozzie’s sheep. Then Auntie Sharon spun it on her spindle and made “yarn” for our scarves. How special is that?! I can’t say thank you enough. I was so touched and absolutely LOVE it my sweet friends – smooches and thank you!!
Dear Bacon – One good thing about having small humans around the house, they have the neatest toys. Take for instance this cute little rocking chair. Of course, the little human has it for her so called dolls but I fit perfect in it. And you know what they say, “If it fits, you must sits”. Barks! Do you sit in chairs? Signed Rocker Doggy
Dear Rocker Doggy – That is totally cute pal. I have been known to sit in chairs. And don’t let humans fool you. Us piggies we can climb. I once climbed the kitchen chair to get in the seat. Of course, I had an extra motive to do so. There was a bag of kitty chow in it and I wanted some food – snorts. So yeah little buddy, I have sat in a chair but I looked nothing as adorable as you!
Dear Bacon – There is *always* that one friend of yours that does not know the word boundaries. Here I was acting all cute and the master was going to take my picture. It’s not bad enough that darn pooch photo bombed me but he has to hug me and lick me… eeww doggie cooties at its finest. Now I’m infected with dog gross. This is going to require many, MANY hours of grooming. Please make him stop and go away. Hey, I got an idea. Can I mail him to you? You already have a semi-zoo going on there at the Hotel Thompson. They wouldn’t notice one more, would they? Signed Kitty Cooties
Dear Kitty Cooties – Oh dear piggy heavens. That is one hilarious picture. Just remember my friend, I’m not laughing AT you. Not at all. I’m laughing at the situation. It seems to me that you got a great pal there with that doggy. Have you thought about that? I bet he is so protective of you that it isn’t funny. Just think that this could be productive and come in handy in the future of anyone picking on you. He could lick them and infect them with cute cooties. And hey, the zoo is now full here. Daddy has said so. There are more anipals than humans and we rule the roost… we just let daddy think that he does – snorts and good luck!
Dear Bacon – It is gotten bad that a bun-bun has to do their own shopping now out in the neighborhood. That’s okay though. I take my little buggy and I hit the nearest garden for my collecting of tasty carrots. They are so delicious! I get enough to fill the buggy, go back home and hide them in my cage. Hey – it’s what I do. Do you like carrots too? Signed Shopping Bun
Dear Shopping Bun – Do I like carrots? That’s like saying, “Do you like to breathe?” I absolutely ❤ carrots. They are one of my favorite veggies in the entire world. I snack on them throughout the day – small ones, big ones, orange ones, yellow ones – all of them are tasty to me. And hey, if you are shopping on your own in the neighborhood gardens, just think of the other tasty morsels you can find too. If you come across watermelon, let me know. That’s my number 2 favorite food 🙂 Happy shopping!
Dear Bacon – Say it with me now when I hit the key, “mmmm”. I’m practicing the Meow Mix song so I can be in the next commercial. Do you think I have a chance? Signed Kitty Tune
Dear Kitty Tune – I say go for it my friend. What do you have to lose? I say if that doesn’t work out for you, try America’s Got Talent or American Idol. And if they don’t work out remember this. YOU are always a winner in my book. Look at you tickling those ivories. You go play my friend and have a blast doing it.

FRIENDS – Please remember that Dear Bacon can’t happen without YOU. Please email me your pictures and letters 🙂
HOGS AND KISSES – it’s a wonderful and joyous day!
I love Easter. I love everything about it. I love the fun. I love the excitement. I love the actual meaning of Easter. I love it all!
Mom makes is so special for all of us. She fixes us all baskets just for us – squeals! She leaves them out the night before and we each get to come into the room to find our basket.
The purr things got their usual of cat treats, a bag of Iams – their favorite and a couple of play mice. They were happy – more so for the basket then what was in it – snorts. Silly purr things. They are so weird playing with their basket before finding their stuff inside. Shakes piggy head.
Houdini got a little basket full of dog treats – he loves them – and some little toys shaped like Angry Birds. Snorts – I think dad is going to confiscate them. Houdini tries to help daddy play his game and loves the swooshing sound of the birds.
The rock clan – we can’t forget them now can we – they got a basket with Rock Candy 🙂 Benedict, Manny, Virginia, Princess Coralena, Rockelle, Bashful and some others 🙂 you haven’t heard about … yet. Coming soon don’t worry my friends. Mom’s hands are just a tad bit full right now. Don’t give up on her.
And Dad loves his Angry Birds games so this year mom had him a cake made with Angry Birds on it – sweet! It is fabulous and gorgeous! I would share a pic but once mom sliced it, it looked like that red bird bled out – snorts.
And me? You asked what did the Easter Bunny bring me? ALL kinds of goodies.

My friend Fozzie and I have scheduled a group posting today of Shopping Around the World. We thought it would be interesting to see the differences between different countries all over. This month we are focusing on items for the vegetarians – fruits and vegetables. Special thanks to Corkscot for the suggestion this month.
.
Items priced this month – Prices in Georgia USA:
Apples – Mommy goes to Sam’s Warehouse to get a huge bag of Granny Smith (my favorites) for $4.99 a bag. There’s about 15 HUGE apples in this bag. Which is good because I get a 1/2 of sliced apple before bedtime every night 🙂 It’s my bedtime snack.
Strawberries – If we are lucky, our store puts 16 ounces packages of huge strawberries on sale for $2.50 a package. During the peak season, we go the strawberry patch. We can get a HUGE basket that we pick… and of course I sample… for $8.00
Carrots – Mommy buys me the 16 ounce bag that are cut/peeled baby carrots. I live off of these! She gets them for $0.99 a bag – sometimes on sale she can get them two bags for $1.00 🙂
Green Beans – Fresh are so yummy! We get them here in season for $0.99 a pound.
Lettuce – We have been buying lettuce for a while now for $0.99 a head. Sometimes they are HUGE and well worth it and other times they are small and only makes a couple of meals for us. That’s right I said ‘us’. I get a salad for dinner every night with mom.
Random Fruit of your choice. Seedless grapes. Smacking my piggy lips now. I ❤ it when mom pops them in the freezer and then gives them to me as a treat. Piggy heaven!
Random Vegetable of your choice. Corn on the Cob – can you say delicious!? On sale, we can get three ears for $1.00. This is a great deal. She shucks them, wraps them in aluminum foil, sprays them with butter and throws them on the grill, in the oven or in the crock pot. My mouth is watering just thinking about how juicy they are!
If you have some items that you want to get on the list, email me at baconthompson@gmail.com

Thank you very much for your ideas for the monthly listing. If you have any more suggestions to be added to my on-going list, please send them to me at baconthompson@gmail.com
Me and food – what can I say? I ❤ food. It’s what I live for.. well that and snuggles from mommy. I thought today I would show you what I eat here at the Hotel Thompson. Keep in mind that I might be just a tad bit spoiled… just a little okay.
This by all means does not happen every day or every weekend for that matter. But, at times mommy cooks me my very own spinach omelet with piggy chow on the bottom of my piggy feed bowl. Doesn’t it look delish? Trust me, it is!
If I’ve been especially good, she will put on her cook hat and toss some eggs around. Daddy gets one too – minus the piggy chow – snorts.
Most days though, I have a combination of Cheerios and piggy chow.
.
Here is my snack bowl that dad will fix me during the week at times. You can see my piggy plate better in this picture. Dad gives me rice cakes, carrots and grapes. Again, not every day.
My snack during the day changes according to what is in the pantry here at the Hotel Thompson. Looks good, huh? Sometimes I have to watch daddy because he will eat my snacks as he fixes my plate – how could he huh?
.
For special occasions like my birthday, I get the platter of my dreams like this picture to the left. Who needs a birthday cake when you have all of my favorites rolled up into one delicious piggy plate?
Bananas, strawberries, grapes and watermelon. Licks lips! Too bad birthdays only come once a year!
If I’m lucky, mommy will fix a tub of this deliciousness so I can eat on it the entire week. Usually when she goes shopping, this is how she does my food. She packages it for the week so all dad has to do is pull out a container for me. It makes it easier for him since he takes care of me during the week when mommy is at the worky place.
.
This plate to the right is my normal dinner. A great salad topped with carrots, tomatoes and piggy chow on the bottom. I ❤ my dinner plate. Doesn’t it look delicious. You want some, don’t you? Usually mommy will fix me my plate while she is fixing her salad.
And I love me some snacks. I can be bought and persuaded to do almost anything with any of the following – Gold Fish (Crackers not sushi – snorts), animal crackers, an apple slice or okay – just about anything.
But for your amusement, there is a rule here at the Hotel Thompson. Don’t eat in front of the pig unless you plan on sharing with the pig. Snorts – you’ll see once you look at this video. Enjoy my friends and I hope you learned something about this little oinker that you didn’t know.
((HOGS AND KISSES)) it’s a wonderful and joyous day!
