Happy National Cereal Day

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel here –

keeping his paws on the nuts of the world –

March 7 is NATIONAL CEREAL DAY.. you know breakfast cereal. Did you know that cereal is the most convenient form of breakfast? It’s quick and easy. Get a bowl, pour cereal, top with milk and enjoy! And, there’s so many different kinds of cereal out there! You can add fruit to it. You can top it with nuts or raisins. You can top it with granola. You can even add honey, maple syrup or crushed fruit. However you eat it, it can be a delicious way to start your day or end your day.

Now, I know this is going to be hard to believe but hang with me for just a minute.  That pig – you know the one they call Bacon on this blog.  This is a picture of his piggy chow in his breakfast bowl that he gets every morning.  Do you know what the little oinker has on top of his piggy chow?  Anyone – anyone at all?  Cheerios!  Can you believe that?!  Even Bacon will be enjoying this day like all others with a topping of Cheerios on his piggy chow.  He doesn’t care what kind, he likes them all!  Regular, chocolate, banana nut, multi-grain, dulce de leche, peanut butter – all of them!

I mean think about it.  Cheerios are not just for the heart conscious adults – it’s for the little man too.  He has to watch his heart and health so he can be here for a very long time as well.  Bacon and his mom eat their Cheerios together every morning… of course his mother doesn’t have piggy chow added to hers which is good to know.

So on this National Cereal Day, enjoy a nice bowl of cereal – perhaps even Cheerios and think about the little pig.

Travels in the South

Welcome back friends to another edition of Travels in the South.  We have been talking about our visit with our great friends Bill and Jean from Canadian Cats.  If you have missed the previous editions, please check them out here:  Red Lobster; Fogo de Chao; Stately Oaks; Spa Day. World of Coca-Cola Part I.

Today, we are continuing our tour that we went on at the World of Coca-Cola right here in Atlanta, Georgia.  The next part of our tour goes into the Miles of Refreshment of the building.  This part of the tour highlights the creation of the original formula and how it might have looked stirring it up in the bowl.  Cool huh?

Although all of the tour is interesting, this part was really awesome to my everyone.  Just wait until you see some of these pics.

.
This tour even had a replica of an old soda fountain and what it might have looked like serving Coca-Cola.  Can you imagine pulling up your chair to the bar and ordering a real Coca-Cola back in the day?   I just hope that the guy serving the Coke loosens up a bit – he’s kind of cold in this picture.  Snorts with piggy laughter.

But at last, this soda fountain dates back to the 1880’s and is said to be one of the oldest artifacts here at the World of Coca-Cola.

This is a 1939 Chevrolet delivery truck from where – can you guess it?  Did you say Buenos Aires, Argentina?  You would be right.  And did you know that this delivery truck is so big that the attraction had to be built around it to fit in the attraction.  But I think it adds a lot.

I think personally these old trucks had flare.  Have you seen the newer trucks out there – they are red.  I kind of like the yellow.  What do you think?  Do you like the long red trucks or do you think we need the yellow one?

Squeals – you gotta check this out my friends.  This part of the tour also housed the sofa from the show American Idol.  Have you ever watched American Idol and seen the red couch that everyone sits on while they are being interviewed after singing their songs?

Guess who saddled up to the sofa and just had to get their picture taken?  You guessed it – mom/dad.  Aren’t those two just crazy?  And that couch was hilarious.  Once you sat in it, it sucked you up to the floor.  I guess it’s had too many butts on it from American Idol – it seemed broken… well so says daddy.  And mom – snorts – she needed assistance getting up off the sofa.  Thank goodness Bill was close by. Mom was worried for a few minutes that they would have to call the Jaws of Life out to the World of Coca-Cola to get her off of the sofa – snorts with piggy laughter.  That’s my mommy!.

In this gallery, there are over 1,000 artifacts.  Here are some more for you to look at:  Olympic Torches from all over the World and the different Coca-Cola drink machines.

.

.

After this part of the tour, you then go on a short tour of the bottling process.  It shows you exactly how everything is all packaged up nicely and delivered to stores around the world.  But one of our favorite parts came after this.  It was where we got to meet the Polar Bear – oh my!  Now this was great fun my friends.  Look at these pics!  Can you tell that everyone had a snort of a great time?  And that my friends is where we are going to end this week.  Join us again next week for the finish of the World of Coca-Cola tour and find out where everyone went to dinner – you don’t want to miss that… food porn!

Travels in the South

Welcome back my friends to another edition of Travels in the South.  We have been talking about our visit with our great friends Bill and Jean from Canadian Cats.  If you have missed the previous editions, please check them out here:  Red Lobster; Fogo de Chao; Stately Oaks; Spa Day.

Have you been having fun enjoying our visit together?  We had so much fun visiting and we hope that fun is showing through our weekly postings.  Today, we are going to share a tour that we went on at the World of Coca-Cola right here in Atlanta, Georgia.

Can you believe that mom/dad grew up here in the south and had never been to this facility and tour?  Shakes piggy head.  It takes visitors to visit all of our local places.  So funny!

And check out the picture to the left of the entrance to the World of Coca-Cola.  That’s a giant top of a coke bottle that is on the outside.  we thought that was totally cool.

After the tickets were purchases, mom and Jean kind of got side-tracked.  They saw one of the trash
receptacles that I do believe Jean wanted to take home with her to put in her garden.  Snorts with piggy laughter.  It is kind of neat huh?

Now with the admission of the facility, you really do get a lot of “bonuses”.  For instance, as soon as  you pay admission and go into the waiting room for the tour, you get free coke (diet, regular, sprite or coke zero).

Now that is so totally cool.  These freebies were in aluminum type bottles – even more neat.

Once the tour starts, you enter into the ‘loft’ area of the building.  This houses history items of Coca-Cola throughout the ages.  Funny story – while we were waiting for the young man to begin his speech in the loft area, Jean opened her free coke – you know the ones we got when coming on the tour.  Unfortunately when she opened her bottle, it spewed all over a man in front of us.  Lowers head – we were so embarrassed.  Of course, we all apologized profusely and began talking to the man and his family.  They were visiting all the way from Saudi Arabia – can you believe that?

Do you recognize some of these older advertisements with Coke?  There are signs in the loft area from all over the world that advertises Coke.  Some we had seen and some we had no idea about.  It was so totally cool to see these.

And do you remember the advertising with the Coca-Cola polar bear?  Do you know the history of the bear?  The polar bear first debuted in a Coca‑Cola advertisement in France in 1922.

And you ask yourself – why a polar bear?  It was to let people know that even if the weather was cool outside, coke was still the right choice in their drinking delight.  Did you know that?

After a short speech from a Coca-Cola associate in the loft, then you go into one of the theaters where you see a short movie on Moments of Happiness.  After this movie, it’s on to the Vault of the Secret Formula.  Bring it on my friends – we are here to find it.  I’m leaving you today with some assorted pictures from the vault.  And then next week, I will continue with the tour.

Hope you enjoyed it my friends!

Travels in the South

Welcome back my friends to another edition of Travels in the South.  We have been talking about our visit with our great friends Bill and Jean from Canadian Cats.  If you have missed the previous editions, please check them out here:  Red Lobster; Fogo de Chao; Stately Oaks.

This week, we are talking about what those crazy four peeps did on Friday, 02/19/2016.  Believe it or not, this day was toned down a bit.  You see mom had a doctors visit in the afternoon so why not plan around that and make it a family event – snorts.  More about that in a minute.

To start the day, we took a family tour of our local spa.  Why do you ask?  Of course to get all of our nails done.  Mom just had hers done so she took photographs.  And yes, we mean ALL – even the guys.

Let’s start with Jean here.

Isn’t that cute?  Jean is behaving at this particular moment and she is at the end of getting her nails finished in the drying machine.  What?  You don’t think that Jean misbehaves?  Oh my friends – you would be so wrong.  You are inquiring what am I talking about?

Let me present to you exhibit A.  Jean so openly smoking in the spa.  What shame… what enjoyment she looks like she is having… what audacity.  She just pulled out that cigarette and started smoking it right there and then.  Was getting those nails done that satisfying?  Snorts with piggy laughter.

She puffed like there was no tomorrow and she wasn’t holding prisoners. Everyone was openly staring – Jean puffing and mommy snapping pictures.  Then everyone started laughing.

It’s really hard to keep a straight face when you start eating your cigarette.  The crunch of the candy kind of gave it away.  But hey, you gotta say that Jean has style, right?

When’s the last time you saw candy cigarettes?  Particular Lucky Lights?  I snorted so hard when I saw these pictures.  What a hilarious time huh?

And look at Jean’s finished nails… pretty huh?  Cute little paw prints.  I wonder who that print reminds her of… Shoko or Kali?

And like I said, don’t forget it wasn’t just Jean getting her beautiful nails done.  Oh no.  Let’s talk about the guys here too.  There’s always a first for everything and when you are here in the south – do as the southerners do.  What do you ask?  Well dad gets his toes done all of the time.  So, Bill was swayed into it as well.  This is Bill and Daddy during their bonding time.

Now that is some kind of spoiling, you think?  Hot towels on your legs, massages, toes all looking beautiful – do you think by the looks on the guys faces that they actually enjoyed their little spa treatment?

I say yes.  Of course after this kind of treatment, it was time to do something exciting – everyone went shopping!

After shopping, it was a quick bite to eat and then to mom’s doctors appointment.  It was time for her mammogram follow up.  You see, mom has been getting tested every 3 months for a while to check on a certain spot.  Well guess what?  It must have been having friends there to hold her hands because she was checked and cleared for a 6 month check up – what a day huh?  We were *all* thrilled to hear about this current change.

After the visit to the doctors office, everyone came back to the Hotel Thompson for a visit.  Of course, I was at camp this week.  Mouse Girl was in hiding.  She so doesn’t take for visitors – spoil sport huh?  Hemi was acting like dad’s parrot by being on his shoulder – rolls piggy eyes.  Hemi has pirate issues.  And of course, Houdini was out making friends… of course he barked until Jean gave him some treats.  Then he was hers ❤  Hope you enjoy this pics my friends. Remember, come back next week to see some more Travels in the South.

Doggy Daycare

IMG_0921.JPG

Rolls piggy eyes now.   Yep – you read it right – doggy daycare.  Little Man Houdini has went to doggy daycare today at Nana’s.  Can you believe that?  Does it sound insane?  What’s even more funny you might ask?  I think the little tyke was looking forward to going to Nana’s.

But he’s not just going to Nana’s to hang out for doggy daycare.  Oh no.  Nana is having the groomer come out today to her house to groom her dog as well as give Houdini his first groom.  WOW – does that not show you how fast the little guy is growing up?  His first official spa day.  Shakes piggy head.

Here is his before picture to the left.  I’ll have to take one of his after when he gets back home tonight.  He is staying the entire day at Nana’s.  He may be excited to be at Nana’s but I’ll tell you the truth.  Me and dad are glad to have the Hotel Thompson to ourselves for some manly bonding time.  Bring on the football and snacks!

Friday – YES!

Thank goodness today is Friday. I absolutely LOVE Fridays. You ask why? Because that means the weekend is right next door and mommy will be home from the worky place. That means extra mommy/piggy snuggles. And I’m still catching up on those from when mom was sick last week. She is doing much better now – not 100% – but she is getting there.

I’m hoping that this weekend finds us laying around on the sofa together watching some good television and bonding. It’s way over do.

20130412-100043.jpg

I’ve missed mom so much it’s unbelievable.  This is a picture of me last night.  Mom was sitting on the couch all by herself.  I got done eating dinner and walked over to her.  I put my head right on her legs and feet and started talking to her.  That’s how much I’ve missed her.  Can you relate?

I stayed in this position for the longest time just loving on my mommy.  After a while, I jumped on the couch beside her and got more loving.  There’s nothing like couch bonding time with mom.

I hope everyone has a wonderfully long weekend – have fun and be safe!

Hemi and Daddy Time

20130220-081052.jpgThis is Hemi and Daddy spending some quality time last night after dinner.  Daddy says this is what happens when dinner is really good – you pass out.  I can relate.  I’ve had dinners like that where mom has went way beyond out of the way.

Dad started playing his Angry Bird game on the Ipad.  Of course, Hemi was supervising and helping to ‘swat’ thost pesky little squawkers.  The next thing you knew, dads head as well as Hemi’s started slowly going down.

I just happen to have mom’s camera phone since she was washing the dishes.  Snort – they talk about me snoring – LOL
