Blast from the Past

Oh yeah – give me some classic Football.  This is another one of mom’s cherished childhood games.  Can you believe that daddy actually had one as well?  He doesn’t know where his went – but leave it to my mommy who.saves.EVERYTHING.  This game actually came out in 1977.  I think it’s a fossil now – snorts.

I checked this out on EBay.  They range from around $30.00 to $150.00 now new.  Can you believe that?  All of these ‘classics’  are making a come back.  Mommy didn’t even like football when she got hers as a child but she said she played the heck out of that thing!

Did you have one?

Blast from the Past

This is another blast from mom’s past – the Waterful Ring Toss game.  It had hours and hours of fun play time that mommy had with this toy!  These toys came out in the 1970’s and were a hit.  They were hours of entertainment to get all of the rings on the two sticks in the water.  You pushed the white button on the front to control the water pressure to get the rings up in the air.  It took some maneuvering – that’s for sure!

Dad had some of these games too but again… where are they now?  He probably got tired of trying and tossed the entire game – Snorts.  They also came in different colors, different events of ring toss and different sizes.

I looked this item up on ebay and they were around the $40-$50 range.  Can you believe that?!

Did you have any of these great little toys?

Blast from the Past

WOW – mom got all sentimental on this toy from her childhood.  The Little Professor was released in June 1976 from Texas Instruments.  It was marketed as the first electronic educational toy.  I think this is where mom found her fondness of math and to these day loves numbers.  So many people hate math but it’s really in the way it is presented.  I think by having fun with the Little Professor, mom started off with a fondness of math.   She got that far away look in her eyes and reminisced about being 7 and walking around the house ‘calculating’.  She got pretty good at it too!

I checked this item out on ebay as well.  It runs from around $25.00 and up.  Not a good turn around knowing that when it first came out in 1976, the price was $20.00.

Daddy never had one growing up – maybe that explains his dislike for math.  I wonder if it’s too late for this little piggy to start using it?

Did you have a Little Professor?  Do tell.

Blast from the Past

Another blast from the past – mom’s Glow Worm from childhood.  OMP (oh my piggy)!  How many of you had one of these things growing up?  Mom’s still works!  Do you know I looked at Ebay and they are selling for close to $50.00 now.  Can you believe that?  Whoever thought that a toy that resembled insect larvae and glowed through bioluminescence would ever be so popular?   And you know they were all girls because only adult worm girls glowed.  Did you know that?  Snorts.  Thank goodness mommy *never* throws anything away because they have ‘special’ memories for her.  Heck, who needed a night light back in the day when you this glow in the dark insect to take with you to bed?

Blast from the Past

Mom is at it again cleaning out boxes in the garage.  She hasn’t done it in a while because of her back pain…. which by the way we found out wasn’t exactly back pain.  The pain was in her right hip, hurt to touch, she couldn’t lay on that side and was just horrid.  She went to the doctor and learned that it was Trochanteric bursitis.  Joy huh?  So she’s treating that and mom says thank you very much for everyone that prayed and was thinking about her.

But anyway, back to the blast from the past.  Anyone remember “You Sunk My Battleship!”  There’s a gazillion pieces and looks fun for me to drag all over the house but mommy says no touchy…. and that means the purr things here too at the Hotel Thompson!  Snorts.

Anyone want to play?   I call blue side!

Blast from the Past

Shivers – Just look at that thing – and I say that loosely.

20140321-084504.jpgI told you a couple of months ago that mom has been cleaning up some old boxes from her and dad’s childhood.  Well, this is another ‘toy’ from mom’s past.  Toy – snorts.  I think this is why me and mom think clowns are evil.  Look at that thing.  How in the world do you ‘play’ with such a thing and not cringe when you see clowns?

Can you just imagine that evil clown hiding in the box.  You hear the music going and going and then all of a sudden “POP” goes the clown.  Give this little pig a break.  I’m going to say it.  I would just drizzle right there and then!  I think the house would be flooded.

Did you have one of these things during your childhood?  Admit it, go ahead.  And  how do you feel about clowns now?

That’s right.  I thought so.  You’re welcome.
