Monday – You’re a Stalker!

Monday – we really need to talk.  Why oh why must you stalk me every week?  I think the only other person that hates you more is mommy.  Where does the weekend go and why does it have to go so quickly!?  It seems like just yesterday I was all snuggled up in mom’s arms and now BOOM – it’s time to go to work.  We need a longer weekend here at the Hotel Thompson.

This is how mom found me this morning.  I slept in and didn’t wake her for the worky place.  I kept trying to pull the blankie back over my head and she kept pulling it up.  It was kind of a test of wills until she said those magical words that I love to hear come from her lips – “Breakfast Bacon”.

I shot off out of my bed and into the kitchen before she could get out of my bedroom.  Someone say food?  This little oinker is there!

National Fried Chicken Day – Oh Have Mercy!

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel here – Keeping my paws on the nuts of the world!

July 6 is National Fried Chicken Day.  On this day, enjoy your crispy, tasty, finger licking good fried chicken.  Fried chicken has got be one of America’s favorite meals.  You know right up there with apple pie!  And you know what?  Fried chicken is good hot or cold right out of the refrigerator.

We all know that fried foods aren’t good for us but every once in a while, you just have to splurge on some great chicken. And today, I *had* to mention this national holiday because Bacon’s mom is a huge fan.  No, let me change that.  Bacon’s mom is a ginormous fan of the fried chicken.  And yes, even the little booger Bacon likes his share as well.  It’s tasty – however you get it.

And the good thing about fried chicken is that it comes in many different forms.  Almost everyone thinks that their recipe is the best recipe.  You have KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) when it was really KFC – not this newer lighter better for you version they are putting out there.  Heck, that’s another news update for another time!   You also have Church’s which is really good.  Their pieces of chicken are huge and oh so wonderful.  And, you even have a place called Bojangles that has really good fried chicken.

Then, you have Bacon’s parents favorite chicken – Popeyes.  You can get it either spicy or mild.  Mom likes it mild and dad likes it spicy.  That Bacon, he eats it either way.  Look at that picture of the chicken.  Doesn’t that fried chicken look just about next to perfect?  Can you tell that we are from the south and we adore chicken??

So, on this day – you enjoy some fried chicken from your favorite place – even if it’s your own kitchen.  I am totally sure they will be having Popeyes at the Hotel Thompson!

Dear Bacon

20130319-114735.jpg

Dear Bacon – They are right when they say the eyes are the first to go. These days, I’m having to wear glasses just to get around the neighborhood.

I know other dogs make fun of me and it kind of hurts my feelings. What should I do? Signed Four Doggy Eyes

Dear Four Doggy Eyes – Hey guy, if it helps you to see I wouldn’t care what other dogs think about it. One day, they are going to experience problems as well. They are being doggy bullies and you know what.

Bullying is totally unacceptable in any form in any way – humans or animals.

Hold your head up high my friend. Wear those great looking glasses with pride!

20130319-114747.jpgDear Bacon – Around these parts, they call me Sheriff Groucho. I love protecting my house and yard wearing my outfit. Sometimes, the humans even walk me through the neighborhood and so I can protect and serve other animals in the hood. It’s what I do. Signed Sheriff Groucho

Dear Sheriff Groucho – Hey, I like the look. I think it’s great that you are taking care of your neighborhood like that. If only other animals great and small would take charge and take back their own neighborhoods, it would be a wonderful place to live. Almost like Mr. Rogers neighborhood. I could see me living there.

Keep up the great work my friend. I think you deserve a pat on the back and a good job well done!

20130319-114802.jpgDear Bacon – You talk about your mommy reading you bedtime stories all of the time. I like to read my own. I especially like Dr Seuss Go Dog Go. Have you read it? Signed Smart Pooch

Dear Smart Pooch – I haven’t heard of that book. I’m going to have to get mom to get a copy so she can read it to me one night. Thanks so much for the suggestion. I love how you hold your book. I only wish my hooves could accomodate that move.

20130319-114824.jpgDear Bacon – You know riding a hog is just not for the humans – no pun intended. Sometimes on nice days outside, I like to jump my bike and ride. I like to feel the wind going over my body.

Do you like to ride? Signed Harley the Frog

Dear Harley the Frog – I like that bike. I absolutely love the color. Your legs are a tad bit longer than mine. I have short legs unfortunately.

It would be fun to feel the wind blowing through my hair though. I may have to see what I can do about that. Keep riding my friend and stay safe.

20130319-114959.jpgDear Bacon – Some days, it doesn’t pay to even get out of bed. On this day in fact, I went from on top of the bed to under the bed. I just passed out and slept until the world was nicer to me. Do you ever have those days? Signed Pooch in Life

Dear Pooch in Life – I do have days where I go back to my bed until I feel better. It’s not every day. It just seems like some days Mother Nature is out to get you and throws lemons at you. Instead of passing it on to the humans, I sleep it off as well. I don’t have the back sleeping going on like you do but it looks comfortable!

Tell a Fairy Tale Day –

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel here –

keeping his paws on the nuts of the world –

February 26th is a day that fairy tales are made of – it’s Tell a Fairy Tale Day.  Everyone loves a good fairy tale – kids, adults and animals.  It’s a great way to bond with your friends.  Pick a story or make up a story.  Either way, it’s a great time for everyone!

It’s not a requirement to start with “Once upon a time…” but it is a requirement to have a happy ending.  There’s absolutely nothing better than to the end with “and they all lived happily ever after.”

So, cozy up with your selected loved one and read a fairy tale or make up one.  You all know that the pampered pig Bacon gets a bedtime story every night when his mom tucks him up. (That pig is *beyond* spoiled!)  I asked him to share one of her stories with his friends here and he said this one was his favorite. We hope you enjoy!

“Once upon a time there was a four legged hoofed piggy who was adopted by a human family.  We’ve all seen Stuart Little.  A little mouse that was adopted by the Little family.  Well, this family was just about the same.  They really wanted a baby of their own but circumstances just didn’t work out.  They did the next best thing and adopted a little runt piglet that was only three weeks old.  They took Bacon home and created his own little nursery for him, catered to him and taught him how to become a little man.

As Bacon grew more and more each day and learned the ways of being a little human, he also grew more and more in his parent’s hearts.  They wanted little Bacon to do nothing more than to blossom and be happy with his life.  Bacon caught on quick to the human ways and started watching television, surfing the net on his laptop and even created his own blog.  In no time, little Bacon became a little pig star in his own right!

Bacon adjusted to life at the Hotel Thompson and caught on so well with the schedule of the Thompson clan.  He knew when it was time to eat.  He knew when it was time to take a nap.  He even knew when it was time to go to bed.  He created his own little routine before bedtime every night.

Not only was Bacon happy at the Hotel Thompson, he brought happiness to the Hotel Thompson.  Little Bacon became such a happy part in his parent’s eyes that they couldn’t even remember life without Bacon.  He filled a void that his mommy had and made her the happiest mommy in the world.  His mommy fully loved Bacon and Bacon fully loved his mommy.

And to this day, Bacon and his parents are living happily ever after at the Hotel Thompson.”

National Margarita Day

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel –

Keeping my paws on the nuts of the world

February 22nd is National Margarita Day. I absolutely have to report about this day – it’s a must!

It doesn’t matter what kind of Margarita you partake in. Bacons mom likes a Habanero Margarita.  She says it’s cool and refreshing and then has a slight heat when swallowing. Yep that sounds like Bacons mom. Sweet and hot. Chitter Chatter. Don’t tell the oinker I said that.

Enjoy a Margarita today my friends!

Happy Thanksgiving Friends!!

Happy Thanksgiving to the best friends we could ever have!

20131125-100117.jpg

I hope your day is full of love, family and hugs.  And let’s not forget food.  All kinds of food!  I found another funny for today.  I hope it makes you chuckle just a bit.

I also wanted to take this minute to express what I’m thankful for.  I’m thankful for my friends here in blogville.  I’m thankful for my family.  I’m thankful for a roof over my head and a soft bed to sleep in at night.  I’m thankful for the food provided for me every day.  I’m thankful for the love all the way.

I’m thankful for the shoulders I have to lean on and the laps I have to snuggle on.   I’m thankful to my birth mother who gave me to my adopted mother.

❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

And when I count my blessings, I count all of you twice!

Spotlight Thursday – Meet Jazz

Spotlight Thursday

Welcome my friends to SPOTLIGHT THURSDAY.  This is the time that I will introduce you to one of my fellow anipals so you can get to know them better.  Some of them, you may already know.  We hope that you enjoy this series!

Name:  Jazz (nickname, “Jazzbo”)

Age:  14 ½  years

Location:  Colorado

Web/Blog Page:  https://peacewithmylife.com/

What were your first thoughts when you met your new parents?  I was pretty excited over everything back then. Mom thought I had had cute curls on my butt, and I knew these were the people for me. They adored my handsome poodle curls!

What was the defining moment when you knew you were in your forever home?  My parents were determined that I was not going to sleep in their bed. The first night, they had a sleeping area all set up for me and turned out the light. I cried and cried. I missed my littermates, my mom, my dad, and my grandparents. I was not used to being alone. When dad relented and let me into bed, I knew that these people needed me to teach them the true Way of the Dog. I was needed here. We slept soundly in bed together, and I’ve slept with them ever since. That’s when I knew that this was the place where I was needed most.

What has been your biggest “Oh no, now I’ve done it” moment so far in your home?  (*cough, cough*) I’ve always been perfect; there has been no naughtiness. Of course, I could always blame any accidents on Nutty, until he passed away in January. (*Looks down and away*) Now, I think the parents could be catching on how naughty I can be, but I’m not going to self-incriminate myself!

Who do you have wrapped around your paws more – mom or dad – and why? I’d have to say, Mom. I’m special to both my parents, but Mom really depends on me to keep her happy. All the dogs here have a job, and I’m mom’s personal counselor. We snuggle all night long every night. I love dad, too, but he doesn’t need me quite as much. All I have to do is whine a little, and mom knows what I need (*hair flip*). We understand each other.

What’s the biggest misconception that humans think about you?  They sometimes forget that I’m old and things are getting hard for me. Since I’m almost blind and absolutely deaf, they can easily give me the slip if they move through the house so fast. They will find me wandering the house looking for them. Mom gets me acupuncture, chiropractics, and medication, and feeds me healthy food, but sometimes she forgets to be sure I’m with her. I follow her all over the house because I never know when she’s going to need me. I want to be there for her, but sometimes It’s hard to keep up.

Hope you enjoyed meeting my friend – check back next week for another Spotlight edition!

Paw Time with Houdini

Sometimes a pooch just has to do what a pooch has to do.  You know what I mean?  Like for instance sometimes at night I’m ready to go to bed before mom/dad.  So I grabbed Mr. Donkey and went towards my bedroom… AKA mom/dad’s bedroom.  I jumped in the bed with Mr. Donkey, we snuggled in and I went to sleep.  This is how mom found me later on in the evening when she couldn’t find me.  What?  I’m big enough to admit that I like to cuddle when I go to sleep.  Mom/dad weren’t there to cuddle so I made do with Mr. Donkey.  What’s a pooch to do, right?  Yawns… in fact I need to get caught up on some more sleep.  So with that in mind, I leave you with Jokes with Daddy.  Hope you enjoy it my friends.
