Dear Bacon

20140717-070917-25757228.jpgDear Bacon –  When they humans are away, the Kung Fu Fighting comes out to play.  This kitty was “Kung Fu Fighting” – go ahead you can sing and dance with me.  I won’t tell anyone.  “Those kicks were fast as lighting.  In fact, it was a little bit frightening – But they fought with expert timing.”  Signed Funky Chinatown

Dear Funky Chinatown – Awesome!  What a way to start a Dear Bacon issue.  Love that song.  It’s one of mine and dad’s favorites.  Heck, you should see dad put on his headband and go to town – he’s got the moves like Jagger!  But don’t worry, you’re moves are tops!

20140717-070917-25757439.jpgDear Bacon –  I may look like a super dog but really I’m not.  I’m waiting at the driveway for my super hero to get home from school.  When he gets off the bus, I give him the cape.  In my eyes, he will *always* be my super hero regardless of how old.  Do you have a super hero Bacon?  Signed Side Kick

Dear Side Kick – Let me tell you something my friend, you are not only the bestest Side Kick ever – you are my hero. ❤

20140717-070917-25757695.jpg

Dear Bacon –  Make it stop.  Why.  Why do we have to be punished like this and given these drownings?  Why can’t I just stay dirty?  Signed Soaking Wet

Dear Soaking Wet –  Aaaww – little guy.  I’m sorry you feel this way.  Let me explain something to you.  Your humans love you.  They really do and it doesn’t seem like it but me trust on this okay.  If they didn’t love you, they would’t bathe you and take care of you.  You know – you wouldn’t have your forever home.  And here at the Hotel Thompson, if your clean guess what.  You get to snuggle in the big bed.  Is that the rule there too?  If so, go ahead and get it over with so you can get some bonding time.  Baths don’t take forever.  Close those puppy dog eyes and roll in some water my friend!

20140717-070917-25757966.jpg

Dear Bacon – My human.  All mine.  I don’t share.  This is my human’s hand.  I will hold it and hug it and call it mine.  All mine.  Signed George

Dear George –  I say go for it my furry friend.  I would gladly give you my hoof as well – you look way too cuddly!  That’s one lucky human for sure!

20140717-070916-25756979.jpg

Dear Bacon –  The shock!  It was amazing!  We couldn’t believe it!  It was like a train wreck and we couldn’t move away from the window.  What we saw Old Man McDonald doing to Mrs. McDonald – WOW!  He is one lucky man.  Oh, you’re asking what?  Come closer and we will whisper it to you.  He was doing the dishes for her!  I know!  Shocking huh?  A man in the kitchen doing the dishes.  We all almost passed out too!  Signed the Farm Hands

Dear Farm Hands –  What the pig!?  I’m so showing this to daddy.  WOW!  Yes you are right.  That Mrs. McDonald is one lucky lady for sure!!  Let me know if you see anything else.

Remember my friends, Dear Bacon can’t happen without YOU.  Keep your letters and pictures coming – sent them to me on my email 🙂

Paw Time with Houdini

BARKS my friends.   Hope you have had a wonderful fast week.  You know us anipals here at the Hotel Thompson.  We *live* for the weekends.  The weekends is when the mommy is at home and we can take turns camping out and getting even more spoiled on her lap.  You can relate right?  It is *THE* most privileged place in the house.  He that has rights on the lap is the happiest for the moment.

But I have to tell you something about last weekend.  Last weekend, I got to go to Nana’s.  I was planned to visit Saturday and spend the night but I got to go early.  You see mom got up Friday and fed me breakfast and then I got sick.  Have you ever gotten sick?  This was my first time and let me just say I didn’t care for it.  Nope.  Not at all.  This puppy needs to never get sick again.  The sick monster got me and things came out of my mouth that I had never seen before.  I was scared.  Mom was scared but she was good.  She cleaned me up and the floor – barks!  She then called Nana to see if I could come a day early.  She said she didn’t want to go to work and have to worry about me not getting extra TLC from Nana.  Let me tell you something.  When I heard Nana, I was waiting at the front door for mom. I couldn’t wait!

See I spent a whole two days and two nights with my Nana.  But by Sunday, I was kind of missing mom and dad.  I kept going around the house and looking for them.  And then, when mom had dropped me off she gave Nana her nightshirt in case I needed it to smell her.  That was a fabulous idea!  I found it Sunday and kept rolling in it, chewing on it.  I even dragged it out the chair Nana had it in and put in on the couch with me.

When mom finally picked me up, my tail was going 90 miles per hour – mommy thought I was going to fly it was going so fast!  I smothered her in puppy kisses.  She told Nana I smelled so good.  Nana just smiled because Nana gave me a special bath and combed my hair.  I was looking fine for mommy.

So that’s my week my friends.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend to come and I hope that YOU get the privileged lap at your house for some snuggles – Barks out!

Shopping Around the World

My friend Fozzie and I have scheduled a group posting today of Shopping Around the World.   We thought it would be interesting to see the differences between different countries all over. This month we are focusing on items for the vegetarians – fruits and vegetables.  Special thanks to Corkscot for the suggestion this month.

.

Items priced this month – Prices in Georgia USA:

  • Apples – Mommy goes to Sam’s Warehouse to get a huge bag of Granny Smith (my favorites) for $4.99 a bag.  There’s about 15 HUGE apples in this bag.  Which is good because I get a 1/2 of sliced apple before bedtime every night 🙂  It’s my bedtime snack.
  • Strawberries – If we are lucky, our store puts 16 ounces packages of huge strawberries on sale for $2.50 a package.  During the peak season, we go the strawberry patch.  We can get a HUGE basket that we pick… and of course I sample… for $8.00
  • Carrots –  Mommy buys me the 16 ounce bag that are cut/peeled baby carrots.  I live off of these!  She gets them for $0.99 a bag – sometimes on sale she can get them two bags for $1.00 🙂
  • Green Beans – Fresh are so yummy!  We get them here in season for $0.99 a pound.
  • Lettuce – We have been buying lettuce for a while now for $0.99 a head.  Sometimes they are HUGE and well worth it and other times they are small and only makes a couple of meals for us.  That’s right I said ‘us’.  I get a salad for dinner every night with mom.
  • Random Fruit of your choice.  Seedless grapes.  Smacking my piggy lips now.  I ❤ it when mom pops them in the freezer and then gives them to me as a treat.  Piggy heaven!
  • Random Vegetable of your choice.  Corn on the Cob – can you say delicious!?  On sale, we can get three ears for $1.00.  This is a great deal.  She shucks them, wraps them in aluminum foil, sprays them with butter and throws them on the grill, in the oven or in the crock pot. My mouth is watering just thinking about how juicy they are!

If you have some items that you want to get on the list, email me at baconthompson@gmail.com

Hope you had fun!!

Shopping Around the World

My friend Fozzie and I have scheduled a group posting today of Shopping Around the World.   We thought it would be interesting to see the differences between different countries all over. This month we are focusing on items that we *have* to have in our lives.

Items priced this month – Prices in Georgia USA:

  • Water.  We buy 24 packs of Nestle water when they are on sale for $3.00 – this is for 16.9 ounce bottles.
  • Bath Soap.  We are kind of picky here at the Hotel Thompson on our bath soap.  Mommy ❤ the Lever brand – that’s almost all she ever buys.  Every once in a while, our local grocery store will have packages of two bars on sale for $1.00!  Mommy stocks up on it when they go on sale.  It always smells so fresh!
  • Deodorant.  What is up with prices on deodorant?!  Mommy and daddy – even though it’s made for a woman snorts – use Secret clear gel.  This runs $4.99 a bottle – that’s almost like highway robbery just so you don’t stink… well that’s what mom says – snorts.  Sometimes if mom is lucky, she can get a package of two for $7.99 and she sometimes has a coupon for $2.00 off making it $5.99 for two – which is a lot better than $4.99 for ONE.  Thank goodness I don’t need this stuff – WOW!
  • Laundry Detergent.  We use Tide pods – dad ❤ this stuff.  It’s easy for him since he does all the washing/drying.  He can just throw a pod in and doesn’t have to measure anything.  We buy a tub at Sam’s Warehouse for $21.00 for 90 pods.  That’s pretty good for us – it almost lasts us an entire year!  Not bad at all my friends.
  • Random Item.  Andy Capp’s Hot Fries.  Delicious – Yummy – Out of this World – Licks Piggy Lips  This is one of mom’s weaknesses.  If she goes to our local Sam’s Warehouse, she has to buy a box of these.  There are 48 bags to a box and the box runs $9.00 – that’s lots of joy.  Have you seen this?  This is what the picture of them look like to the right.  You want some now, don’t you?  Snorts

If you have some items that you want to get on the list, email me at baconthompson@gmail.com

Hope you had fun!!

Shopping Around the World – REMINDER

REMINDER

Me and my pal Fozzie have scheduled Shopping Around the World for:

Wednesday, August 27, 2014.

Do a posting on your blog linked back to mine.  That way we can keep track of all of the different prices.  It should be interesting to see the differences between.  Mark your calendar so you can do a posting with us.

This month we are focusing on items that we *have* to have in our lives.

Items to price this month:

  • Water.  Let’s shoot for a price on a 24 pack of water.  This is something that we use every day and can’t live without.  Some people drink it straight from the faucet while others of us buy bottles.  What is the price of a 24 pack of water in your area and what brand?
  • Bath Soap.  Something ‘most’ of us use when we shower – or I hope so anyway snorts. What brand do you get, how many boxes together and how much.  I say how many boxes because I know sometimes they are sold in packages of 1 or 2 – sometimes more.
  • Deodorant.  This is something that has blown mom’s mind lately – the price of deodorant – WOW!  Again, this is something that most of us use every day or should.  Tell us what brand you get and how much.
  • Laundry Detergent.  Another product that is important in our lives while washing our clothes.  What kind do you buy, the price and size.
  • Random Item.  This is something that we are going to start incorporating every month.  This is your choice.  List a random item from your area, what it is and the price.  ALL YOUR CHOICE.

Come join the fun of Shopping Around the World – mark your calendars Wednesday, August 27, 2014!

If you have suggestions for the September issue, please send them to me at baconthompson@gmail.com

Bacon’s Towel

My friend Cocco had a contest for a free personalized bath towel in March and I won.  I can’t begin to tell you how excited I was – and still am!  I’ve been putting off on a post because mommy was hoping that I would actually use the towel – snorts.  She’s so funny.  The bath towel came to the Hotel Thompson, mommy unwrapped it and it was cool.  She tried slowly to introduce me to the towel.  You say why?  Well, shuffles hooves, new things they kind of scare me – just a little.

Bath time rolled around this weekend.  I blew bubbles… stomped my hooves… rolled around in the water… dived for carrots.  You know – all in all had a great time.  Time came for me to get out and mommy got my new towel.  Well that’s when mommy learned something new.  I can shake worse than a doggy when getting out of the tub.  Mommy should have just gotten in the tub with me because she got wetter than I did – snorts.  What can I say?  It’s what I do.

She grabbed my towel but to tell you the truth, it didn’t smell like mommy.  It’s a cool towel too.  I squealed like bloody murder so mommy couldn’t towel me off, hold a squealer and take a picture too.  Maybe next month… maybe.

But here is the adorable towel.  It’s black with green lettering.  The towel came from Trixie Wilkie with Adorable Banner Company.  It is a really cool towel and mommy highly recommends it.  From the picture, you can tell there are little pockets where you can hold on to a squealing pig… or dog … or cat… so they can’t get away.

Never fear – mom says she’s going to try again next month in trying to get a picture taken with me and the towel.

Thanks to Cocco and Trixie for the brilliant towel – love you guys!!

Snorticles – Anyone for Bath Time?

As a follow up to my morning post, I wanted to share with you a favorite bath time video that mom took of me once upon a time.  You see, I like bath time for the most part.  I like stomping my hooves and blowing bubbles in the water.  It’s just fun pure and simple.  And hey, I gotta make sure that mom gets a bath too so if she’s not soaked, my bath time is not done 🙂  And as you can tell from watching the video, when I’m done – I’m done.  I hope you enjoy the video my friends.

Happy Friday!

These days, I’m closing my eyes tight and dreaming of sand, sun and palm trees.  It’s just too cold outside right now for me to handle it.  bbrrr – shivers.  I saw this funny that I got a while back and it actually made me smile.  This could be me.  I love bath nights.  Well, I like playing in the water.  You see blowing bubbles and stomping my hooves in the water are two of my favorite things.  A – it’s entertaining for this little oinker and B – I get mom soaked when I do it – snorts.  It’s kind of a win-win situation for the both of us.  She just doesn’t seem to look at it that way at times.

Wishing everyone a happy Friday and a great weekend my friends!!

Mouse Girl – A Story of Kitty Spa

There comes a time in every little purr things life that she has to go to what mom refers to as the “Kitty Spa”.  I find this totally fascinating.  Mouse Girl, the purr thing here at the Hotel Thompson, is a girly girl.  We all know that.  Mommy washes me and the other purr thing here, Hemi, with no problems.  But, mommy says that Mouse Girl is different.  How so?!

Well, it might have to do with Mouse Girl being a Maine Coon kitty.  If you didn’t know, Maine Coon kitties are big… like really big.  Mouse Girl is almost the same size as moi.  Does that tell you anything in size?  And, it might have to do something with the fact that mom tells daddy that Mouse Girl has a  wicked back kick?  Apparently Mouse Girl thought to bring out some of her ninja skills this weekend when mom attempted to bathe her in the kitchen sink.  When I tell you that the kick took mom’s breathe away, it’s not just something that I’m saying.  Mouse Girl literally back kicked mommy in the chest.  After daddy stopped laughing, mom kicked daddy in the ankle to show him how it felt.  Yeah, my humans are weird like that.

20130923-085301.jpg

So, back to the size of Mouse Girl.  If you ever came into the Hotel Thompson, you would never see her.  She’s not overly friendly with people that she doesn’t know.  I think it all stems from her days at the shelter.  You see mom/dad adopted her from a shelter.  They went to look for a kitty friend for Hemi after his brother Tybee passed away. (Both of them were also adopted from the shelter.)  When they were looking at the kitties, Mouse Girl *picked* mommy and daddy and decided she was coming home with them that day to her forever home.  That’s how she came to be with us here at the Hotel Thompson.

A lot of people that visit the Hotel Thompson, don’t even know she’s here.  But I got a great picture of her this weekend.  She’s a big kitty – a handful I might add.  Mommy thought well if she wouldn’t let her groom her, she would take her to the kitty spa.

So, let me get this straight.  She back kicks mom, won’t let her groom her so she gets awarded by going to the kitty spa?  Mom, what are you thinking?  I just shook my piggy head in disbelief.  Hemi was the same way.  It just goes to figure since Mouse Girl is such a girlie girl.

I have to ask.  Mommy never really explained it to me.  Mouse Girl was gone for several hours at this kitty spa.  What the heck is a kitty spa?  All I have are pictures like this in my head:

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

Please tell me I’m wrong.  Really?  Mani, Pedi, wash, bubble bath, massages AND sauna treatments.  Hair up in curlers – please, please tell me I’m dreaming and this is all really just a piggy nightmare!

Then, the telephone rung and it was the kitty spa saying that Mouse Girl was done.  Done?  Done what?  I have to admit that I was intrigued as to what she was going to look like upon her return.  Mom/dad went and picked her up and opened her crate door in the front room.  The first thing me and Hemi did was smell her.  She smelled like baby powder.  Eeww – how girly.  Then she came sashaying out of her kennel.  She looked so relaxed, different but the same, and she was all smiling.  Yep, she was actually smiling with happiness.  She’s content.  She didn’t try to run away.  She walked through the house like she owned it and jumped on the bed for a nap.  I was able to click this picture of her.

20130923-085315.jpg

WOW – she was even nice to me and Hemi for a change.  Personally, I think she needs to go to this kitty spa thing more often.  I’m going to make her another appointment next weekend.  If she comes home all this nice and not so moody, it will so be worth it!

Splish Splash I Was Taking a Bath –

This was one of my all time FAVORITE videos of me taking a bath. Notice me stomping my feet and blowing bubbles in the water. I love to do this! Mommy thought she would video tape me at bath time. There is absolutely NO privacy here at the Hotel Thompson. For goodness sake, I was in my birthday suit – snort chuckles.

When I’m done splish splashing and playing in the water, mom towels me down to dry me off.  This video that she took is priceless.  I don’t know who was more surprised – me or mom!

Hope you enjoy the video my friends!
