Shopping Around the World – Mark Your Calendars

Thanks to everyone for another great edition of Shopping Around the World in January.  It’s so awesome to see the various prices around the world!

Me and my pal Fozzie started Shopping Around the World in April 2014.  This has become a huge hit and we all want to know if we are paying more or less than everyone else – snorts.

We are going to do it again this month on – Friday, February 27th.

Do a posting on your blog linked back to mine.  That way we can keep track of all of the different prices.  It should be interesting to see the differences between.  Mark your calendar so you can do a posting with us.

This month we are working RANDOM CHOICES of the items mentioned.  List what is your favorite of the random item and price.  Let’s see how many things we can recognize in *your* area.

 Items to price this month:

  • Random condiment of your choice.
  • Random frozen meal of your choice.
  • Random dessert/something sweet of your choice.
  • Random Fruit of your choice.
  • Random Item of your choice.

Hope too see you here on February 27th!

Shopping Around the World

My friend Fozzie and I have scheduled a group posting today of Shopping Around the World.   We thought it would be interesting to see the differences between different countries all over. Here are our prices for the following from our area – Georgia USA:

 Items to price this month:

  • Olives – Mom ❤ her olives.  Sometimes during the day, she just eats them straight out of a jar.  And she likes to put them in her Bloody Mary’s.  She buys the huge jar – 21 ounces – of pimento stuffed olives from Walmart, it’s called Manzanilla, for around $4.00 a jar.
  • Light Bulbs – Light bulbs are so expensive these days!  It seems like we are forever replacing the ones in the kitchen.  We have two light fixtures in the kitchen that have three lights each.  They take 65 watts and they are made kind of like a flood light.  She can buy a three pack at Home Depot for $19.99 – expensive huh?
  • Air Spray – Mom keeps a bottle of Lysol in my room – shrugs shoulders – I don’t know why.  But she says that little can is almost $5.00 on sale!  Throughout the house, she likes to use Febreze.  She can usually get two bottles for $5.00 on those.
  • Lettuce – How much is a head of lettuce?  Here in the market on sale, we can buy a head of lettuce for 99 cents.  If we are lucky, sometimes they are HUGE.
  • Random Item of your choice.  My random choice is bananas.  Mom can usually get them in the store for around 79 cents a pound.  Why can’t they be cheaper?  I *need* my bananas.  They are one of my all time favorite snacks.

Hope you had fun!!

Blog Hi-Jack from Mom and Dad

Hey Bacon’s friends.  This is Bacon’s mom and dad here.  We are hi-jacking the little guy’s blog this afternoon for an important announcement.  But first, we want to say thank you to all of the wonderful and kind comments for our anniversary today.  Thanks so very much!  They say that time flies by and it really does.  We have been together for so long and it seems just like yesterday when we met and started dating. It’s so hard believe it’s been 26 years now.  We both thank God every day for Jim’s mother introducing us!

Now to our announcement.  Today is also our pig-son’s birthday.  Our baby Bacon turns the big 3 today!  Can you believe he was born on our anniversary?  Just one more little sign that his adoption was meant to be with us.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BACON!

Bacon has brought so much joy here at the Hotel Thompson.  When I tell you there is *never* a dull moment, that is certainly the truth.  Bacon is like the little child we never had.  He’s very smart – as you all know from him writing his blog here – cough cough.  It doesn’t matter what kind of day you’ve had, how much stress you encounter in the world – he is always here waiting for you with a snort and oink.  I’m not sure what me or Jim would do without Bacon and our other ‘children’ Hemi and Mouse Girl in our lives. They bless us beyond our imagination.

So today, we raise our glass with you our friends to send out a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the best pig-son we could ever have.  And here’s to years and years of more happiness and adventures!  Help us out our friends in wishing Bacon the best of all birthdays!

Bacon – may all your dreams come true.  May you have more delights today than ever before.  We shall celebrate tonight with your favorite birthday ‘cake’… a piggy plate full of your favorites – apples, bananas, strawberries, watermelon and grapes.

We love you our boy!

Special shout out thanks to my brother Easy across the pond.  He send me a birthday card and a bag full of goodies in the mail.  OMP – I’ve never been so excited.  I even let daddy play with my pink piggy mask.  That mask is pigawesome.  Now I can be a pink pig to see what it feels like.  Thanks brother!

Me and Food

Me and food – what can I say?  I ❤ food.  It’s what I live for.. well that and snuggles from mommy.  I thought today I would show you what I eat here at the Hotel Thompson.  Keep in mind that I might be just a tad bit spoiled… just a little okay.

This by all means does not happen every day or every weekend for that matter.  But, at times mommy cooks me my very own spinach omelet with piggy chow on the bottom of my piggy feed bowl.  Doesn’t it look delish?  Trust me, it is!

If I’ve been especially good, she will put on her cook hat and toss some eggs around.  Daddy gets one too – minus the piggy chow – snorts.

Most days though, I have a combination of Cheerios and piggy chow.

.

Here is my snack bowl that dad will fix me during the week at times.  You can see my piggy plate better in this picture.  Dad gives me rice cakes, carrots and grapes.  Again, not every day.

My snack during the day changes according to what is in the pantry here at the Hotel Thompson.  Looks good, huh?  Sometimes I have to watch daddy because he will eat my snacks as he fixes my plate – how could he huh?

.

For special occasions like my birthday, I get the platter of my dreams like this picture to the left.  Who needs a birthday cake when you have all of my favorites rolled up into one delicious piggy plate?

Bananas, strawberries, grapes and watermelon.  Licks lips!  Too bad birthdays only come once a year!

If I’m lucky, mommy will fix a tub of this deliciousness so I can eat on it the entire week.  Usually when she goes shopping, this is how she does my food.  She packages it for the week so all dad has to do is pull out a container for me.  It makes it easier for him since he takes care of me during the week when mommy is at the worky place.

.

This plate to the right is my normal dinner.  A great salad topped with carrots, tomatoes and piggy chow on the bottom.  I ❤ my dinner plate.  Doesn’t it look delicious.  You want some, don’t you?  Usually mommy will fix me my plate while she is fixing her salad.

And I love me some snacks.  I can be bought and persuaded to do almost anything with any of the following – Gold Fish (Crackers not sushi – snorts), animal crackers, an apple slice or okay – just about anything.

But for your amusement, there is a rule here at the Hotel Thompson. Don’t eat in front of the pig unless you plan on sharing with the pig.  Snorts – you’ll see once you look at this video.  Enjoy my friends and I hope you learned something about this little oinker that you didn’t know.

Cucumber Banana

20130724-232029.jpgTHAT’s IT!

Now I know exactly how to hide my bananas here at the Hotel Thompson.  Disguise them as cucumbers!  Daddy won’t touch cucumbers.  He’s the culprit.

Mommy buys *me* bananas but when I turn my back, daddy is eating them.  And you know what, he won’t share like mommy.  I don’t get it.  He has everything else in the house in the big ice box to eat.  Can he please leave my bananas alone?  Please?

Mommy calls me her monkey boy sometimes because I love bananas so much.  Can you do me a favor friends, can you tell my daddy that these are really made for this little oinker and not the human daddy?  Please – can you help a pig out?

What is Happiness?

What is happiness?  I’m a simple pig.  Happiness to me is a platefull of bananas, strawberries and grapes in my favorite snack piggy plate.  See, I’m simple like that.  I got this wonderful snack of my favorite things.  Why?  Because I’m cute, cuddly and as momma says, “Just so precious”.  Snorts – it doesn’t take much, does it?

What are you happy for on this Saturday?  I’m happy for my food, my accomodations here at the Hotel Thompson and of course mom/dad.

XOXO – Bacon

Nana Bought Me GIFTS!

20130218-094852.jpgAnimal crackers, 5 pounds of carrots, 5 pounds of apples, bananas and cuties – oh my I’m in PIG HEAVEN!!

I’ve got to be the most well kept piglet in the world – no offense my piggy friends.  It’s times like this you need to live closer to me so I can share my bounty.

This will all probably last me several months.  I don’t get it ‘all’ every day.  The apples, bananas and cuties are my bed time snacks.  I get one of them every night before mom tucks me in.  That way my little belly doesn’t rumble in the middle of the night making deviled ham come out and play – snort!

The carrots get cut into matchstick size treats.  I get some of those and some of the animal crackers as snacks during the day, usually around mid day before I go back down for my afternoon nap.

You know I have to have all of these naps.  It’s hard taking care of this sexy body!

My nana is the bestest in the entire world!  I love you my nana!  Smooches

Santa Paws Came !!

20121219-065235.jpgSANTA PAWS CAME!

Nana came to the house yesterday bringing me some gifts from Santa Paws. Oh my – thud – I almost couldn’t stand it. Mom forgot to put my bananas in this picture but it gives you an ideal of Nana brought me. I’m in hog heaven here at the Hotel Thompson! Isn’t Nana the best?!  She is so meant for spoiling this already spoiled pig.  She’ll tell you that too – I am S*P*O*I*L*E*D rotten.  But aren’t all children meant to be spoiled and loved?

This is a list of what I have at the house now and trust me I am a happy little runt pig.  I haven’t had this many goodies in a long time!

  • 8 pounds of red apples – that’s right.  It’s not a typo – 8 POUNDS of red apples.  I love me some apples… any kind, any color.  Can you believe that I smelled these out last night and found where daddy had put them in the kitchen.  Mom had to put them in the refrigerator to get them away from my smeller – snort.
  • 5 pounds of carrots – yep that’s another one – 5 POUNDS of carrots.  You would think that with all of the carrots that I eat that I would have excellent vision but I don’t.  But what I don’t have in vision, I make up in smelling.
  • Bulk celery – mmm – I love celery… even the little wisps of it that hang off at the top of celery.  Love that part!
  • Cabbage – that is one HUGE head of cabbage.  Mom will probably eat some of this cabbage too.  But do you know what the battle is going to be?  The core of the cabbage.  Me and mom both like to naw on the core of the cabbage.  Have you ever done that?  It’s got a little spice to it and so delicious!
  • My personal sized watermelon.  This is definitely a treat since it’s winter time here in Georgia.  Mom will cut it all up (like she did last night) and put it in buckets in the refrigerator to get it cold.  She even cuts up the rind – I love the rind.  She gave me a whole slice last night.  You know what I did to it.  I bit into it and then took off down the hall to my room to eat it and enjoy it.  Mom chased me down with a towell and held it for me while I ate it.  Then she cleaned everything up for me.
  • Bananas – You don’t see them in this picture because mom forgot to grab them.  She got me a whole bunch of 10 – 10 bananas all to myself.  Pig heaven – literally!  Can you believe that one time mom was holding a banana and I tried to crawl up her legs to get it?  Yeah, we had a little prayer meeting about that afterwards.  They are so delicious!

So you see now why I love my Nana.  She also brought mom and dad a whole bunch of food too.  Between Nana and my Aunt Tina, our fridge and cabinets are nice and full of food.  I’m a happy camper because this makes my mommy happy.  She doesn’t have to stand in the kitchen and wonder what she can pull together any more.  Now, she opens the fridge/freezer/cabinets and says, “MMMM – everything looks good, what to have, what to have!”

20121219-092028.jpgOOOOHHH, and mom brought me home a ball.  She was telling one of her friends about me getting a bouncy ball.  They brought her one and can you believe it has a pig on it?!   They call this pig Olivia. I still don’t understand why all of my toys have pigs on them?  Shakes head and wonders…  Here’s a picture of my new toy.

You’re probably asking yourself how do I play with this ball?  Well, I push it around with my little snout everywhere in the house.  Nana says that snout of mine gets me in trouble.  She would be right.  I push this ball down the hall, up the hall, on the walls, in my room and chase after it.  Can you believe that the purr things were trying to play with me last night.  They would push it to me and I would snout it back to them.  It was kind of fun.  Momma says that she is going to video tape it next time because for once in my life, she didn’t have her camera handy.  Imagine that!

Happy hump day my friends – XOXOX Bacon
