Sometimes you want food that just screams comfort to you. My mom’s comfort food when she is feeling really bad – are you ready for this – is a Happy Meal from McDonald’s. Can you believe that? She has been recuperating from her surgery, some days are good and some days are testing her ability not to scream. Well one of her friends brought her a hamburger Happy Meal ordered with extra happy for her one day. Wasn’t that awesome? I’m not sure if it was the Happy Meal or the extra happy that made mom’s day but it did.
Mom had to take this picture of everything. That is a hamburger, two bags of cut up apples (I guess that was the extra happy, you think?) a small fries, a drink and of course a girl toy. And yes, please check out the size of that fries in relationship to the hamburger. Do you think they could be any smaller? Snorts and rolls with piggy laughter.

I love Easter. I love everything about it. I love the fun. I love the excitement. I love the actual meaning of Easter. I love it all!
Mom makes is so special for all of us. Mom gave the purr things their little basket. She was going to take a picture of it but too late – they got to it. There was little pieces of grass everywhere from their straw basket. They got cat treats, a bag of Iams – their favorite and a couple of play mice. They were happy – more so for the basket and grass at first – snorts. Silly purr things.
Dad loves his Angry Birds games so this year mom tried to decorate the eggs in their colors. Didn’t turn out as good as last year but dad absolutely loved them. Me, of course I favored the piggy one. What more I favored was what was inside of the egg. Snorts – I do love my food.
And me? You asked what did the Easter Bunny bring me? ALL kinds of goodies.
I got a yearly pot full of my special treats! I noticed last week that my big bucket was MIA (missing in action) here at the Hotel Thompson. That Easter Bunny is sneaky. He must have come in last week and took my bucket to fill up with all of these goodies.
Look in that bucket –
Animal crackers – yes the convenient size – snort.
Yellow squash and eggplant. I love it chopped up and raw.
Carrots – look at the size of those master pieces!
Oranges and apples.
And my training raisins were in the bottom of the bucket. I only get raisins when mom is teaching me new tricks. I guess she’s up to training again.
YUMMY – this pig struck the gold mine! I think personally the Easter Bunny likes me the best, don’t you? But I won’t tell anyone if you don’t.
And we can’t forget about rock clan. The Easter Bunny brought the rock clan what else but Rock Candy!
Everyone is having a blast on this special day. I hope you and yours also have a spectacular Easter my friends!
At night, I run around the house when mom gets home from the worky place. Last night was an exceptional fun time. After dinner and washing the dishes, mom prepped my food for the next two weeks. This is *always* a fun time for me. I get to be her sous chef while she works with my food. 🙂 You don’t want to miss this quality mommy piggy time!
She starts off washing my seedless grapes. Those things are sinfully delicious. She pats them dry and sometimes one or two may fall on the floor right in front of me. Funny how that happens. She pulls all of the magnificent grapes off of their stems, puts them in one of my containers and puts it in the magical food box. Last night, one of them rolled under the kitchen table. Mom was laughing because all she could see was my little butt shaking in the air trying to go for the grape. I’m glad I was such amusement for her.
Then mom preps my carrots. Mom says that I *must* have been a bunny in a former life because I LOVE my carrots. They are also scrumptious. She cuts all of them in tiny matchbox sticks and puts them in my giant ziplock baggie. Of course, I get to try some, you know for quality purposes. These also go in the magical food box.
Then mom does my salad mix. I’ve never seen such huge heads of lettuce before. She cuts it all up in tiny bite size pieces and puts it in two of my giant ziplock bags. And, of course, for quality purposes I get to try some. I have to make sure that it tastes good, right? Again, this goes in the magic food box.
Lastly, mom fixes my favorite… okay all of them are my favorites. My favorite though is the personal size watermelon. Thud. I really do love me some watermelon – from the juice, the melon and the rind. They are divine. She cuts all of my melon up, including the rind, and puts it in two of my canisters. I of course get to try it… for quality assurance. I did see dad in there last night trying it as well for quality assurance. See, everyone wins during prep night. She puts this in the big magic food box and she’s done for the next two weeks.
Of course, I eat other things as well but these are all snack and supplements to my piggy chow. There is the occasional apple mom cuts up for me. And then there is popcorn night! Who doesn’t like popcorn night? I can hear that corn popping on the stove all the way in my bedroom. I’ll come running down the hall to get to the kitchen on popcorn night.
After all of this quality assurance during prep night, I disappeared while mom was cleaning the kitchen. She finally found me though. I was curled up hiding in my blankie on the couch. My belly was so nice and warm… and full.
Barks friends! Just wanted to drop you a note and let you know that mom more than made up for his mishap of forgetting my birthday last weekend. OMD!! I had a blast on Saturday morning. Mom took me to the spa – I love the spa! All she had to do was mention it the night before and I was so ready and waiting the next morning. Afterwards, I got my very own chicken nugget happy meal with fries and apples. All mine! I was in doggy heaven. And just to show you how much of a great time I had, I’m attaching a video of my excitement. Hope you enjoy it!
He’s real! Santa Paws came to the Hotel Thompson to see me! Oh my – thud – I almost couldn’t stand it. I’m in hog heaven here at the Hotel Thompson!
This is a list of what I have at the house now and trust me I am so happy – I haven’t had this many goodies in a long time!
8 pounds of red apples – that’s right. It’s not a typo – 8 POUNDS of red apples. I love me some apples… any kind, any color.
5 pounds of carrots – yep that’s another one – 5 POUNDS of carrots. You would think that with all of the carrots that I eat that I would have excellent vision but I don’t. But what I don’t have in vision, I make up in smelling.
Bulk celery – mmm – I love celery… even the little wisps of it that hang off at the top of celery. Love that part!
Cabbage – that is one HUGE head of cabbage. Mom will probably eat some of this cabbage too. But do you know what the battle is going to be? The core of the cabbage. Me and mom both like to naw on the core of the cabbage. Have you ever done that? It’s got a little spice to it and so delicious!
My personal sized watermelon. This is definitely a treat since it’s winter time here in Georgia. Mom will cut it all up and put it in buckets in the refrigerator to get it cold. She even cuts up the rind – I love the rind.
Bananas – You don’t see them in this picture because mom forgot to grab them. She got me a whole bunch of 10 – 10 bananas all to myself. Pig heaven – literally! Can you believe that one time mom was holding a banana and I tried to crawl up her legs to get it? Yeah, we had a little prayer meeting about that afterwards. They are so delicious!
And we can’t forget about Houdini – OMP! Houdini scored with some new clothes, a new bed and all kinds of doggy toys.
And the purr things Mouse Girl and Hemi – they are in love! They got some nip, toys and a huge bag of treats.
And we all got our own electric blanket. Can you believe that?! Mom hooked it up over one end of our sofa so that her and daddy can click it on and off. That way we can all lay on it and get cuddly warm – we all love that.
But you know what we got that was priceless? Love. Not just from mom/dad but from all of you our friends. We can not thank you enough for that. We all ❤ you!! And we thank you all for the emails and Christmas cards that you sent to us here at the Hotel Thompson!

And squeals!! This just in. We received this in the mail yesterday from Auntie Sharon. A beautiful handmade scarf. But this scarf has a story behind it. The actual “yarn” was shorn from Fozzie’s sheep. Then Auntie Sharon spun it on her spindle and made “yarn” for our scarves. How special is that?! I can’t say thank you enough. I was so touched and absolutely LOVE it my sweet friends – smooches and thank you!!
Barks and squeals was what was happening this week here at the Hotel Thompson. In fact, we were *all* so excited. We received a package from the other side of the world – barks! It came from our friend Fozzie and the gang – Dinnermintz, Pickles, Forrest and Doc. Of course, daddy made us all wait until mom got home from the worky place to open the huge box.
But when we did – I think mommy squealed almost louder than any of us. Look at that beautiful picture in the upper right hand corner and the stunning post cards – oh my puppy heavens – mommy actually jumped for joy and danced around the kitchen. Aren’t humans weird?
Then all of us anipals got things from the package and we took off to explore with them – Bacon got some delicious apple chips (daddy says they were good – he ate one you know for product control review). I got a delicious chew stick – barks! It was delicious!! The purr things got some treats. And daddy got a cookie from that awesome Yorkie tin – beautiful!! Then afterwards, we all played with squeaky pig – not Bacon my silly friends – the pink piggy in the picture.
Fozzie you did way too much! We thank you so very much and now mommy can work on the project she has planned for those beautiful post cards 🙂
Oh and I told you we played with the pink pig – here’s proof that we LOVE it.

Oh my dear sweet friends – I’m BACK! YES! Summer Camp was really interesting. Mom kept telling me that she wanted me to know what it was like to feel like a regular pig. I couldn’t understand that at first. But let me tell you. I completely understand now. COMPLETELY!
Do you know that there are some pigs that have never been inside of a house? They don’t have centralized heat and air conditioning – let alone their own room with a flat screen television and bed. I was shocked to learn that! Of course, I did meet a lot of new friends at camp. Some were really cool – except for Scout. He ate my huge container of Animal Crackers – can you believe that? The nerve of him – but don’t worry. Ninja pig came out and got even with him on tent night – insert evil snort.
Mom, dad and Houdini picked me up Saturday night. I so couldn’t wait. And you won’t believe the surprise mom sprung on me – WOW! I’ll have to show you in a couple of days once I get a good picture of it. After lots of hogs and snout kisses, I said my goodbye to my new friend Scott and to Binky – a girl I met 🙂
The first thing I did when I got home was beg mom for an apple. I went the entire week without having one – can you believe that?! That was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I ate that apple so fast it wasn’t even funny. Then I oinked at Hemi and Mouse Girl. Don’t let them fool you – they missed me too.
I gotta say thank you for Houdini for taking care of my blog while I was gone – you rock kid.

Mom makes is so special for all of us. She fixes us all baskets just for us – squeals! She leaves them out the night before and we each get to come into the room to find our basket.
The purr things got their usual of cat treats, a bag of Iams – their favorite and a couple of play mice. They were happy – more so for the basket then what was in it – snorts. Silly purr things. They are so weird playing with their basket before finding their stuff inside. Shakes piggy head.
Houdini got a little basket full of dog treats – he loves them – and some little toys shaped like Angry Birds. Snorts – I think dad is going to confiscate them. Houdini tries to help daddy play his game and loves the swooshing sound of the birds.
The rock clan – we can’t forget them now can we – they got a basket with Rock Candy 🙂 Benedict, Manny, Virginia, Princess Coralena, Rockelle, Bashful and some others 🙂 you haven’t heard about … yet. Coming soon don’t worry my friends. Mom’s hands are just a tad bit full right now. Don’t give up on her.

My friend Fozzie and I have scheduled a group posting today of Shopping Around the World. We thought it would be interesting to see the differences between different countries all over.Here are our prices for the following from our area – Georgia USA.
Items to price this month:
Milk. Mom usually buys 1/2 gallon store brand which lately has been on sale for $1.00
Tomatoes. Mom loves Roma tomatoes. They are small but meaty. She bought some for the dinner at $1.29 a pound – that was about 4 tomatoes.
Canned Product. Black beans. How could you possibly go wrong with black beans – especially when you can buy store brand for a $1.00 a can. Mom bought two cans for the meal.
Homemade Dish. Jalapeno Cornbread with Black Beans 🙂 yum – see below
Random Item of your choice. Jalapeno. Mom bought one very large one and it only cost $0.69 the day she was at the market.
Okay my friends. Mommy went easy – really easy on this month’s Shopping Around the World – go mom! She was able to combine all of her prices and items into the Homemade Dish – which is one of our favorites here at the Hotel Thompson.
Jalapeno Cornbread made with with a diced up Jalapeno (according to taste how much you throw in), cup of milk, 1 egg, 2 tablespoons of melted butter, 1 cup of cornmeal and shredded cheddar cheese. We have a small iron skillet that will serve four slices of cornbread. Mix ingredients, except for shredded cheddar cheese, and bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. When done turn over skillet onto a plate and top with shredded cheddar cheese.
Black Beans with tomatoes, diced Jalapeno’s and diced red onions. So easy here – snorts. Open store bought black beans and heat over the stove on medium heat. Add a little chicken broth (or whatever broth you have on hand), diced Jalapenos (to taste for heat) and diced tomatoes. When bubbles, turn down to low and stir.
When bread is ready, spoon black beans into bowl and top with more diced tomatoes. Mom even added some cilantro into the mix this date. A meal made for a king and queen. Filling and hot for a cold rainy night that we seem to be having a LOT of lately. Happy eats my friends.
Oh… and this entire meal when you break it down ends up to be around less than $6.00 for two people.

Random condiment of your choice. Friends – I’m shaking my little piggy head here on this one. Why do you ask? Well, I stumbled into the kitchen – the land of the unknown to this oinker – and looked in the cabinet. What I found was shocking and took me back a bit. You see one of dad’s favorite condiments is… well… perhaps I should show you. See, this brings many questions to this pork butt’s mind. Exactly where and what does he season with this item I’m not sure. But it’s one of his favorites and he says it costs around $3.49 a bottle. I think that’s kind of cheap for butt kickin’ – just saying.

Random frozen meal of your choice. This one is SO easy. In our freezer here at the Hotel Thompson, you will *always* find a Hungry Man television dinner. Chicken is mom’s favorite and turkey is dad’s. Do you remember these dinners? Mom can usually find them on sale at our local Kroger for $2.00 each. Not bad for a complete dinner with dessert, huh? Yeah, mom knows they are full of bad stuff and carbs but every once in a while, it takes her back to her childhood and fond memories. And I’ve heard the brownie desserts in the chicken ones are delicious. Not that mom has shared with me but I hear her squeals of delight when she eats them.

Random dessert/something sweet of your choice. Four words for you. Edwards Peanut Butter Pie. They cost $6.99 in the store and are worth every.single.bite. So says mom and dad. Again, I haven’t had a taste. A single morsel. Nothing. Not even a crumb. Do you see a pattern of abuse here at the Hotel Thompson? Snorts and oinks.

Random Fruit of your choice. Okay I got this one mom. Our random fruit choice *has* to be apples. I don’t care what kind, what size, what color. I’m not discriminating. I LOVE them all. On a good day at the market, mom pays about $1.29 pound. Sometimes in the summer/fall, she can get them a lot cheaper. Which is good because I can put the apples away.
