Journey with Friends – Week 48

Welcome my friends to our weekly issue of Journey with Friends.  This is a time that we come together for support, for encouragement, for fellowship – all with one single goal in mind – to live better.  Welcome to our journey to share our goals and our accomplishments and our disappointments and frustrations.

Together we can do this!

Sunday, November 26, 2017 –  It finally got here.  The day before I return back to work.  I thought I was ready until my mom called.  She couldn’t breathe.  It was one of those moments that life stops revolving and you go into action mode.  Rushed her to the hospital where they did all kinds of tests and kept her overnight.  At this moment, we still don’t know much but it looks like it’s going in the direction of some type of COPD.  Hopefully we will know more tomorrow.  Miles Moved: 0.13

Monday, November 27, 2017 –  Mom is still in the hospital having tests done and today was my first day back to work.  Talk about a double whammy!  But things went well with work.  I’m slowly trying to ease back into work.  And with mom being in the hospital, I’m trying to take care of her house/anipals as well as her at the hospital. Breathe in/out.. right?  Miles Moved: 1.33

Tuesday, November 28, 2017 –  YAY mom came home today.  Went to pick her up from the hospital, took her home and then did some errands for her to the pharmacy and store.  Miles Moved: 1.56

Wednesday, November 29, 2017 –  Today was a short day for me.  I had to take a half day to go home and get some rest.  I think things were piling too much on me trying to recuperate myself.  Miles Moved: 1.00

Thursday, November 30, 2017 –   Things are somewhat back to normal at home with mom. She is trying to get plenty of rest and take it easy for a while.  My healing is going to take time.  My right breast looks beautiful but the left breast is slowly taking its time to catch up.  But I have to keep in mind that the left breast had a lot of work done with it (it had two lumps removed as well as the reduction/life).  Miles Moved: 0.90

Friday, December 1, 2017 –  Thank goodness for Friday!!  I’m so not cooking tonight.  We are eating out and then I’m coming home to get me some rest.  Hopefully this weekend will involve lots of rest as well.  I can tell it was a lot to come back to work this week but I’m trying to keep myself together with work vs rest.  Miles Moved: 1.38

Saturday, December 2, 2017 –   Rest sweet rest never sounded so good!  Exercise walking has been postponed until January 2018 to give my breasts more time to heal.  I do think that’s an excellent idea.  Miles Moved: 0.18

Thoughts for the week:  Healing from my surgery is on-going.  It’s going to be a bit.  I was warned about that.  It could take six months to a year for my breasts to look like ‘breasts’.  But that’s okay.  Even at this stage, they are lovely to me.

This week walked: 6.48

TOTAL 2017 Miles:  517.56

Journey with Friends – Week 47

Welcome my friends to our weekly issue of Journey with Friends.  This is a time that we come together for support, for encouragement, for fellowship – all with one single goal in mind – to live better.  Welcome to our journey to share our goals and our accomplishments and our disappointments and frustrations.

Together we can do this!

Hey sweet friends.  I am feeling so much better this week – YAY!  I actually might survive this surgery.  It has definitely been a most difficult 2.5 weeks from surgery.  There were plenty of ups and downs, lots of pain and lots of amazing moments.  I’m actually able to do more now.  I still can’t bend over, raise my arms to high or lift anything – not even Houdini – but it’s getting better each and every day.  I’m also staying up full days.  Trust me, I took LOTS of naps during the past couple of weeks.  Resting/sleeping means healing and we want that.

It definitely was a huge surgery.  They were able to remove the three lumps in question (two on the left side/one on the right side).  Those were sent to the lab for testing and came back no cancer – double YAY!  In the big scheme of things, they removed a total of 5.5 pounds.  That was 3.5 pounds from the left side (the worse side) and 2 pounds from the right.  Healing is processing.  The left side got a huge hit but it’s looking good.  I guess you can say literally I’m a work in process.

I to say thank you to all you my friends for the letters, emails, phone calls and guidance during this time.  I expected pain and recovery but it seemed like a got a big dose of it especially the first week.  Your thoughts, prayers and kind words really meant a lot to us here at the Hotel Thompson.  We ❤ you!

I did some updates on my surgery blog if you would like to read about them – here.

Sunday, November 5, 2017 –  Sweet rest is what I’m doing right now.  Trying to be kind to myself.  I’m a side sleeper.  They tell me after surgery I will have to sleep on my back for at least six weeks.  That’s going to be tough but I will do it.  I want to make sure everything goes accordingly, right.  Miles Moved: -0-

Monday, November 6, 2017 –   Two days here to get everything done that I can possible get done at work.  Trying my best to tie up all loose ends so I won’t worry about anything.  Finally got the end of the month stuff done – yay me!  Miles Moved: 1.05

Tuesday, November 7, 2017 –  Everything is completed now at work.  Bag is packed for surgery and I am ready to go.  Now, what do I want for my last meal tonight?  That is the most important question today. Miles Moved:  1.53

Thursday, November 9, 2017 –  WOW!  Now MTV friends you know I did a lot of research for this surgery but nothing prepar d me for the pain. Omg. The pain from the past couple of days have been horrendous. If I had secrets, I would quickly tell you them all in detail.   Miles Moved: -0-

Sunday, October 29, 2017 –   Cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning.  What a day NOT to wear my watch.  They so need a housecleaning icon to track your movements – LOL Miles Moved: -0-

Monday, October 30, 2017 –  So much to get done at work being the end of the month right before my surgery.  God give me strength!   Miles Moved: 1.01

Tuesday, October 31, 2017 –  Halloween!  I dressed up like a fox.  I think people at work enjoyed it.  My tail was long – giggles.  Just brought a little fun to work.  I even wore it out to eat tonight with the hub unit.  Got several laughs from people.  Miles Moved: 1.18

Wednesday, November 1, 2017 –  Pre-op is tomorrow.  I’ve packed all of my garments to be reviewed by the doctor for surgery.  Kind of getting a little nervous now.  Miles Moved: 1.06

Thursday, November 2, 2017 –  Pre-op was hilarious.  The doctor went all Picaso on my chest drawing with a permanent marker showing me where my scars would be.  Really fun getting this off later.  It took me over an hour – LOL.  We went over the surgery, the do’s and don’ts of the night before/after surgery.  Garments looked fine but we will see more during/after surgery.  I need to be at the office at 7:30am for prep.  Shit is getting real now.    Miles Moved: 0.78

Friday, November 3, 2017 –  Worked late trying to get everything done and caught up at work.  I’m going to be so far behind next month.  Sighs.  It will be okay.  I will make it.  Miles Moved: 1.25

Saturday, November 4, 2017 –  Stayed home most of the day cleaning house and waiting for Blue Apron delivery… which never came might I add 😦   That’s another story for another time.  Miles Moved:  -0-

Thoughts for the week:  I want to thank everyone in advance for their lovely emails, cards, phone cards and kind words.  I really appreciate and love all of you.  You have brought a smile to my face during this time.  If you could think about me Wednesday and say a little prayer.  They are going to remove three lumps during my procedure with a breast reduction.  They will be sending everything to the lab.  We pray for the lab to come back negative.  Thanks my friends ❤

This week walked: 5.28

Journey with Friends – Week 43

Welcome my friends to our weekly issue of Journey with Friends.  This is a time that we come together for support, for encouragement, for fellowship – all with one single goal in mind – to live better.  Welcome to our journey to share our goals and our accomplishments and our disappointments and frustrations.

Together we can do this!

Sunday, October 22, 2017 –  It’s getting kind of hard to move now but I’m still treading along.  It’s amazing to look back and see how much I was walking and feeling great vs now without my RA meds.  They really were working!  Soon after surgery I can take them again which I’m really looking forward to at this moment!  Miles Moved: 0.98

Monday, October 23, 2017 –  Mission accomplished.  Today I wanted to finish my Australia pictures and get them made into photo books.  I did it!  Of course, it took two books – LOL.  There were so many wonderful memories to make.  Don’t worry – I will be sharing them with everyone in the next couple of months.  Miles Moved: 0.74

Tuesday, October 24, 2017 –  Trying to get a headstart on my end of the month/beginning of the month accounting at work.  I want to make sure everything rolls and is good to go starting 4th quarter before my surgery.  I will be out of work for a total of 12 days, including the weekends.  I then go back to work for 3 days (the week of Thanksgiving) and then I’m out again for another 4 days.  I think this is completely doable with my surgery and my doctor agrees since basically I have a sit down job.  Keep your fingers crossed for me ❤  Miles Moved: 1.02

Wednesday, October 25, 2017 –  Do you ever have days you wake up and just want to snuggle back down for another couple of months – LOL?  That was all of us this morning in the king size bed.  It’s starting to get a little cold in the air now – YAY!  Just enough cold in the house that we were all heated by each other and was all comfy.  I could have slept for another couple of hours for sure.  But I got up and went out to work.  Yay me.  I get extra points for that, right?  Miles Moved: 0.74

Thursday, October 26, 2017 –  Paperwork – it’s going to kill me.  I’ve accepted that.  Started going through my personal spreadsheet that I keep up with for taxes.  Yep, I’m anal like that – it’s the nerd in me.  Better to start it now than to wait until the last moment.  Miles Moved: 1.44

Friday, October 27, 2017 –  Looking forward to another long weekend – only one more weekend after this one before surgery.  We are going to run a few errands but other than that, rest is on the menu.  Miles Moved: 1.40

Saturday, October 28, 2017 –   Do you ever think about how much heat your anipals put out?  And how hot their little tummies are?  It just brings a smile to my face thinking of them.  Especially when they are all snuggled up to you sleeping, tummy exposed without a worry in the world.  Safe and content.  Exactly how they should be.   Miles Moved: 1.59

Thoughts for the week:  As I said last week, no more videos this week about the upcoming surgery – LOL.  I’m trying my best not to even think about it and to focus on family and friends right now.  The more I do that, the better off I am.  If I think about it too much, I get a little freaked out and anxiety peeks into my life.  I’m trying.  Next week 11/2/2017, is my pre-op.  Keep my fingers crossed dear friends.  I appreciate all of your love, advice and good thoughts sent my way.  ❤

This week walked: 7.91

TOTAL 2017 Miles:  503.22 (I could have walked from Atlanta, Georgia to Gainsville, Florida)

Journey with Friends – Week 42

Welcome my friends to our weekly issue of Journey with Friends.  This is a time that we come together for support, for encouragement, for fellowship – all with one single goal in mind – to live better.  Welcome to our journey to share our goals and our accomplishments and our disappointments and frustrations.

Together we can do this!

Sunday, October 15, 2017 –  Running a few errands today and trying to get some shopping done before my surgery.  Lots of little things to get for preparation.  Just trying to make sure everything is ready to go.  I did find a bed rest today – go me.  And it’s cute, pink and fuzzy.  Should be fine for sitting in bed or on the couch during my surgery.  That is if I can keep Houdini off of it – LOL.  Miles Moved: 0.67

Monday, October 16, 2017 –  I’m having a hard time with moving/walking these days.  I’m off my pain meds in preparation for surgery so each day is a challenge in itself right now.  But I’m moving slowly like a turtle.  Miles Moved: 1.74

Tuesday, October 17, 2017 –  Can you believe Halloween will be here in a couple of weeks?  I’ve got to get started in finding our costumes for the Hotel Thompson.  Shaking my head.  Where is the time going?  Miles Moved: 1.22

Wednesday, October 18, 2017 –  I’m slower than molasses today but I’m moving.  The cold is starting to set in here in the south – finally!  It feels good on one hand but it’s making me slower on the other paw.  But I’m moving on slowly and surely.  Miles Moved: 0.90

Thursday, October 19, 2017 –   I’m moving bit by bit but I’m moving.  I can’t wait for surgery just to get back on my medicines for my RA.  You don’t think you need them until you don’t take them in preparation for surgery.  Oh my gosh – I *need* them – LOL Miles Moved: 1.24

Friday, October 20, 2017 –  Slow day today.  We have lots of errands to get done tomorrow.  Any takers want to do them?   Miles Moved: 1.09

Saturday, October 21, 2017 –  Well that is one way to get some movement in – errands.  But I’ve got lots of things to get done and out of the way – specifically this weekend is to get all of the Australian pictures completed and start blogging about that amazing trip.  You do want to hear about it, right?   Miles Moved: 1.25

Thoughts for the week: Sometimes we get all stressed over things to come.  I admit it.  I’ve done and am doing the same with my upcoming surgery.  But you know what?  It’s going to happen regardless of my stressing or not.  So really why stress?  My body is going to go through enough stress in healing so why add to it?  I know that is easier said than done but really it’s the truth.  And we all love the internet and the things we can find there – it’s an endless fountain of information.  BUT, some things we don’t need to research any further.  I’ve done my homework on my surgery.  I know what is going to happen.  I know the trauma my body is going to go through.  So tell me why I watched another video of the actual surgery this week?  eeww – that just about freaked me out.  No more.  Paperwork is signed and done.  Payment is done.  No more watching videos on the surgery!

This week walked: 8.11

TOTAL 2017 Miles:  495.31 (Shooting to break 500 next week!)
