Once upon a time, there was a cute little boy and a cute little girl. They grew up relatively in the same area not too far away from each other.
You know what they say about three degrees of separation? It was the same in this situation. They knew some of the same people. He went to a private Christian school that she attended church at during the week. They ate at some of the same restaurants. For all they knew, they might have passed each other during their childhood. It was possible.
They grew up, went through school and college. Until one day, the girl applied for a job at a business that changed the course of her life. She was interviewed by the mother of the boy who took an immediate liking to the girl. In fact the liking was so much that the mother hired the girl for the job having a secret agenda. The secret agenda was to have her son meet this girl and fall in love.
The mother introduced them and they went to lunch together for the first time on September 14, 1988. It was an immediate chemistry and love was in the air. The young boy courted the young girl throughout the years doing everything together. There would be times that one wanted to get married but the other didn’t at the time and vice versa. Not that they didn’t love each other but because they had things they wanted to get done first. You know the things in life like finishing college and getting a solid paying job. But throughout this time, families merged and got to know each other.
The young couple courted for 16 years. Yes my friends, that is not a typo. Life was good. What was the rush? They grew up and got set in their ways. She bought a home and was taking care of herself and he was taking care of his parents and helping them.
Then on Valentine’s day February 14, 2004, the young man got down on one knee and asked THE question, “Will you marry me?” The young girl was shocked and amazed. Her response, “What’s the rush?” A sense of humor that has maintained throughout their relationship – that’s a good thing.
The young girl accepted. A date was discussed. Sadly, the mother of the young man had passed away over the years. In honor of her, they made a date for September 15, 2004.
Now, this is the fun part. Two lives merged as one into ONE household. They said their I do‘s and moved in together for the first time. What a wake up call! PLOL (pig laughing out loud).
Today marks their 13th wedding anniversary or 29 years of being together. Was it easy – nope. Has their been good times and bad times – of course. Every marriage has bumps in the road. It’s how you travel over the bumps to the other side that makes a long lasting relationship. It also helps that both of them have a really wicked sense of humor. I mean look at me. Who do you know would adopt a pig in their lives? Enough said on that.
So today, we at the Hotel Thompson would like to wish mom and dad a Happy Anniversary. Here’s to another 29 years of being together!
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Hey Bacon’s friends. This is Bacon’s mom and dad here. We are hi-jacking the little guy’s blog this afternoon for an important announcement. Today is also our pig-son’s birthday. Our baby Bacon turns the big 6 today! Can you believe he was born on our anniversary? Just one more little sign that his adoption was meant to be with us.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BACON!
Bacon has brought so much joy here at the Hotel Thompson. When I tell you there is *never* a dull moment, that is certainly the truth. Bacon is like the little child we never had. He’s very smart – as you all know from him writing his blog here – cough cough. It doesn’t matter what kind of day you’ve had, how much stress you encounter in the world – he is always here waiting for you with a snort and oink. I’m not sure what me or Jim would do without Bacon and our other ‘children’: Houdini, Hemi and Mouse Girl in our lives. They bless us beyond our imagination.
So today, we raise our glass with you our friends to send out a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the best pig-son we could ever have. And here’s to years and years of more happiness and adventures! Help us out our friends in wishing Bacon the best of all birthdays!
Bacon – may all your dreams come true. May you have more delights today than ever before. We love you our boy!
And thanks to my bro across the pond – Phenny – for these awesome presents. That card was almost as big as me! I loved it. Thanks bro ❤

Oh my friends. Where does the time fly by so quickly? Can you believe it’s been FOUR years since my first posting on October 9, 2011? One of my biggest accomplishments in this time – is meeting all of you my wonderful and cherished blogville friends from all over the world! Your friendship means the world to this little oinker – it really does! And what a great thing that my blog anniversary comes in my favorite month – during my 31 Days of Spook.
So I know this post isn’t about hauntings or spooks, things that go bump in the night or squeals, but is about you – my friends. Thank YOU for all of your support, your friendship, your shoulders when I need them to cry on and for allowing me into your homes. YOU mean the world to this little piggy. Smooches!
Did I do good my friends on putting together mom/dad’s surprise weekend anniversary kidnapping? I think they had an excellent time. And us anipals stayed at home and were watched by a neighbor. You would be proud to know that we didn’t get into trouble, no one got hurt and we were actually nice to each other… although a certain pooch did want some duct tape for an experiment. Thank goodness mommy forgot to put some out – snorts.
So what did daddy think of his kidnapping to a weekend adventure? Well, the proof of his happiness and tiredness is in the finale video. Until next year mom/dad – happy anniversary from all of us 🙂

We love you our boy!
And friends – Thank you so very much for the birthday wishes to Bacon. Kali and Shoko – LOVED your card! So beautiful and sweet.
Oh my friends. Putting together an anniversary weekend for mom/dad is so tiresome! All of the planning, the sneaking around, the using of the credit card for reservations – WOW – it made my little piggy head SPIN out of control. Once I got them out of the door – this is me. I crashed HARD! I didn’t care what the purr things and pooch were doing – I was taking me a much needed rest. Shakes piggy head.
So let me set the scene for you. Saturday morning, I got mom up for breakfast like I always do – snorts. Nothing like the squeals of a hungry pig at 7:30 AM to get one up. While mom got my breakfast, I sent her an email advising her of her first destination. She giggled and got together an overnight bag. She then put dad in the Jeep and video taped the start of the adventure. I hope you enjoy it below. I’ll post later the 2nd video after they get finished with destination 1.
P.S. There is still an on-going battle on what to name the Jeep. Mom insists on Casper while dad insists on Gibson. Do you get Gibson? It’s a Jeep Patriot Latitude… snorts with piggy laughter.
Hello my friends. Sneaky Bacon here today – snorts. I’ve been trying to help mom out the past couple of days. She’s been home sick. It just seemed like everything was slamming her out of the left field all at once. But I’m happy to note that she has returned back to work today from being out all week. I’m sure she will have loads to catch up on – which is good. Good why? Because I’ve been trying to sneak around the house and get something together for mom/dad without them knowing. Do you know how hard that is?
So I’ve tip-toed around the Hotel Thompson and used stilts so that mom/dad wouldn’t hear my hooves on the hard wood floors. You see, their anniversary is 09/15/2015. But it’s during the week so therefore I’m looking at putting something together for them this weekend. Since most people can’t speak pig, I’ve had to use my computer to put together this surprise. And let me tell you – it is a surprise. I can’t go into any details at this point because you never know who might let it slip to them. But it’s good. I’ll make sure mom takes plenty of pictures to show everyone next week.
And if you are around 09/15/2015, remember it’s their anniversary. Sshh on the surprise though okay.
