Travels in the South

Sometimes you just need a little comfort food.  You know something warm to your belly and tasty… don’t forget tasty.  A couple of weeks ago, mom was craving some comfort food just like this.  So her and daddy went to a local pub that has what mom calls the *best* grilled cheese sandwich evah.  Why do you ask is it the best?  This is what it has on it:  American cheese, cheddar cheese and pimento cheese… and mom added gulps bacon to it with a side of crispy french fries.  Hey I can overlook the bacon when it brings a smile to mom’s face like this lunch did.  Have you ever had something so cheesy and good?

Wonder Woman What?!

There I was this morning looking at the news on my i-Pad.  You know minding my own piggy business in a world all to myself.  That’s when a friend of mine on Facebook showed on her page a picture of some wondrous food.  I mean BIG time knock you on your piggy tail awesome food.  I’m talking my daddy would absolutely LOSE his mind with this hamburger – see below.  Was I joking?

So, I did what any decent pigson would do.  I finished reading the article and then tapped down the hall to dad’s room.  Of course I would say run but then we would all know I was lying.  This pig doesn’t run.  It’s bad on my knees.  Oh my bad – I don’t have knees – snorts with piggy laughter.  Trust me, once dad saw the article he quickly forgave me for the slight hoof mark I left on his ankle – only slight.

This monster of a burger is courtesy of a restaurant in Tampa, Florida called Datz and is called the Amazon Warrior Burger.  It was created for the new movie Wonder Woman that is now currently showing in theatres.   It was only available for one day – bummer.  It would have been an awesome trip.  So what makes this burger warrior material?  You tell me – here are the ingredients:

The bun is sourdough and decorated with white cheddar and American cheese starts.  The bun has also been dyed red, gold and blue.  There are two beef patties broked up – wait for it – by a slice of pineapple!

So, what do you think my friends.  Are you game for a warrior burger?  Licks my piggy lips now.

Travels in the South

Welcome friends to another edition of Travels in the South.  Today is being brought to you by daddy.  Recently McDonald’s launched a bigger Big Mac called the Grand Mac.  Now dad loves his Big Mac’s of any kind but he has been opting out of trying this because of eating clean.  Well this past weekend, he couldn’t help himself.  He had to try one and of course mom was there to interview him and take pictures – that’s my mom.  She didn’t try one or any of his french fries – go mom and your will power!

Now this is from the McDonald’s website:  “A regular Big Mac is two pure beef patties, Big Mac sauce, sandwiched between a sesame seed bun, American cheese, crisp lettuce, onions and pickles.”  And a regular Big Mac has 540 calories.

Now here is the description from McDonald’s website on the Grand Mac:  “Sink into 1/3 pound of real beef seasoned with salt & pepper sandwiched between a sesame seed bun.  All dressed with special sauce, crisp lettuce, onions, pickles and two slices of American cheese.”  And a Grand Mac has a whopping 860 calories!

Okay, a little more beef, an extra slice of cheese and 320 more calories.  And the pictures on television and on the McDonald’s website show there is a size difference and we all know that size matters, right?  So what did daddy think about the Grand Mac?

Daddy shrugged his shoulders at it.  The Grand Mac that he got did not look much bigger than a regular Big Mac.  It didn’t taste any different per say.  It was just okay.  In fact, if dad had to do it all over again, he said he would pass.  It just wasn’t that awesome.  So there you go – from the dad’s mouth.
