Okay Friends – Here We Go!

My sweet friends at Nikitaland have started this monthly issue of Pay It Forward.  We asked for you to keep this in mind all month and to share things here today on what you have been able to do.  Paying it forward is not for bragging purposes – it’s an attempt to show how many different things we can do to pay it forward – lots of them don’t even include money.  Gestures that we take for granite may be a God send to another person.  So here we go – I’ll start on what mommy has done in the past month.

Mom *always* buys breakfast for at least one person during the month in a drive thru.  This month wasn’t any different 🙂  She bought breakfast for the guy behind her in line at the drive thru and left him a pay it forward card.

Dad brought the trash cans up from the drive for us and the neighbor.

Mom left a card in the mailbox for the mail lady with a piece of chocolate once during the month as an appreciation gift.

Mom also fixed all six of her supervisors at work a treat bag for St. Patrick’s Day.  They had green shot glasses and some candy.  They were a huge hit and everyone seemed like they really enjoyed them.

AND, they were easy 🙂  All 6 shot glasses with candy wrapped in green paper cost only around $5.00

And this month mommy did something for daddy too.  She surprised him with dinner one night to a place that he really enjoys.  She took off work early, pick him up and they went off in Albert the Smart Car. She didn’t even tell him she was leaving work early that day.  It was a great surprise and daddy had an awesome time!

Pay it Forward

• Mom did another adventure through the McDonald’s drive thru in February.  She paid for the guy’s breakfast behind her.  All he had ordered was a biscuit so mom added a drink to his order as well.  She left one of my business cards with “Pass it Forward” on it.  It *made* the guy’s day!  Later on, I got an email stating, “YOU MADE MY DAY.  Thanks for the breakfast.  I will pass it forward.”  See – little things add up to make someone’s day!
• During the month, mom and dad try to watch out for the trash can out front once a week.  They brought back the neighbor’s can a couple of times.  In this weather, that was awesome!
• Mom and dad went to Cracker Barrel for dinner one night.  When they were checking out, there was a small boy that was at the cash register.  He was wanting to buy a small toy – it wasn’t much.  He was so polite!  He didn’t have enough money.  Mommy bought him the toy and let him keep his money for another one later on.
• Now you gotta know that my parents eat out A LOT.  Snorts and rolls with laughter – that’s definitely a post for another time.  One night they went to IHOP.  There was an older man sitting by himself.  My mom in all of her southern charm, invited him to dine with her and dad.  They talked and had coffee for at least an hour.  His wife had passed last year and each week he goes to a restaurant to think of her.  It was a privilege to spend time with him and hear about his life.

Now I want to tell you about some things that was done TO mommy this past month.  Our great friend and co-chair of Pay it Forward, Valerie, is totally awesome!  Mommy has been so sick this past month and Valerie sent mom a pick me up card.  She enclosed a little something inside of the card for mommy to treat herself with a meal.  Now let me tell you.  That made my mommy smile and bubble with happiness.  Valerie – you go way beyond being a friend.  YOU are awesome and you rock!

And to the man at the theater this past weekend – you rock!  You don’t want me to mention your name but you were a life savior.  You see, when me and the hub unit go out sometimes it is difficult for the hub to go to the restroom.  We went to the theater and the bathrooms were dark.  There was no way that he could maneuver by himself.  A gentleman standing nearby waiting for his wife saw our dilemma.  He escorted Jim to the bathroom and out.  What a knight in shining armor – thank you so very much!

Another Pay it Forward we want to throw out is to the Hilton Garden Inn located at 4801 Governor’s Drive, Huntsville, Alabama 35805.  If YOU are ever in the area and need a place to stay, mom and dad highly recommend this location.  There are the nicest people at the front desk.  The hotel is overly accommodating with any need or desire you may have.  Not only did they let mom/dad check in early last week, they recommended some wonderful restaurants and was so nice!  Thanks everyone – the stay was great!!

Dear Management of the Hotel Thompson

Dear Management,

After careful consideration in your letter, I have reviewed my initial complaints.  You brought up some very good and valid points in my life at the Hotel Thompson.  I am a very lucky little piggy. 

Please accept my piggy apologies and original letter.  Sometimes one just needs to be booted back into reality.  I am very fortunate to have such great and wonderful accomodations here at the Hotel Thompson. 

I promise to do better in my chores and more giving to daddy with mommy.  Thank you so much for setting me straight.

Dear Bacon,

We are in receipt of your letter from yesterday.  We apologize for the way you think the service has fallen on the weekends at the Hotel Thompson.  We appreciate you taking the time to contact us to let us know of our fallen ways.  We have taken great thought to some of your remarks and we have a few of our own, as we should since every story has two sides.

First of all, Sunday cleaning day.  Everyone at the Hotel Thompson pulls their weight around here at this establishment.  Just be glad that you don’t get the bathroom detail – that goes to Princess Mouse Girl and she doesn’t complain.  And Hemi with his huge paws, he gets dusting detail – he doesn’t complain.  You in fact my dear, are a little pig headed.  You like to fight clean day.  Let’s talk about bath nights at the Hotel Thompson.  You neglected to tell everyone how bull headed you are in taking your bath.  You don’t mind stripping down to naked world and running through the house but you try to avoid the tub like there’s no tomorrow.  We’re not asking for a bath every week, but once a month on bath night perhaps you can be so kind to actually help and not cause a fuss.  Sometimes it sounds like we are killing you here and what would the neighbors think then?  I’ll tell you what they will think.  That you are a wussy.  Yep, we said it little man.  Bath up okay.

Second of all, do you know how much you enjoy mommy/piggy time?  Well, daddy likes to enjoy mommy/daddy time too.  It’s only fair since mommy gets shared with all of you – you, Hemi and Mouse Girl.  Daddy deserves some time as well.  Especially since he keeps you in the life that you are accustomed.  If mom and dad want to go out and have a ‘date night’, then they should.  And before you go eeeww, just remember one day you will be dating too.  You have to do everything to keep it fresh and romantic.

Third of all, Bacon sweet Bacon – you have more mood swings sometimes than a pharmacist has pills.  Not that *we* are complaining.  We take the good – we take the bad – it’s the facts of life.  Regardless of your behavior, we still love you and cater to your every little need.  You seem to be the apple of your mom’s eyes.

Fourth of all, you may have less snacks on the weekends, but tell the truth about your meals.  You actually get cooked to order pancakes, omelets, fresh fruit and actual tacos or pizza on the weekends.  WOW – figure that.  Less snacks but more home cooked meals.  And you always get a treat on your pillow during turn down service.  You’ve never go to bed hungry.

Therefore let’s discuss your accomodations here at the Hotel Thompson shall we. 

• You have free roam of the facility.  You have air conditioning and heat in a temperature controlled environment. 
• You are guaranteed 3 meals and usually 2 snacks during the week.  Sometimes on the weekends, it might be 3 meals and possibly 1 snack. 
• You have your very own bedroom…. all to yourself.  Not even the purr things here go into your room unless you invite them in.
• You have your own television, DVD and Netflix account in your very own bedroom.
• You get mommy/piggy time on the sofa in the front room watching television.
• You get piggy massages and rub downs.
• You have your very own piggy toys.
• You have your very own pet – Bashful.  He should keep you company now on the weekends when mom and dad have date night.
• AND, you have your very own computer with internet access.

Needless to say Bacon, we think here at the Hotel Thompson you need to re-evaluate your issues with us.  It seems to the management, that you have it made my friend.  I don’t believe other piggies that live in nature have it made like you do.  But, if you have anymore complaints, please feel free to write.
