Welcome my friends to our weekly issue of Journey with Friends. This is a time that we come together for support, for encouragement, for fellowship – all with one single goal in mind – to live better. Welcome to our journey to share our goals and our accomplishments and our disappointments and frustrations.
Together we can do this!
Sunday, December 24, 2017 – Last minute shopping anyone? We are taking the next couple of days and doing absolutely nothing but laying around. Must get rest – 2018 will be here before we know it. We went out today with mom. Weird thing happened. The Jeep stopped running right in the middle of traffic – totally conked out. What a scary situation. It did crank right back up though. Weird? Monday, December 25, 2017 – Merry Christmas my friends! We hope that everyone had such a wonderful holiday. We enjoyed it with family and friends. Did some errands throughout the day. The Jeep was fine but the check engine light came on. Miles Moved: 0.10
Tuesday, December 26, 2017 – Took the Jeep to get an oil change/air filter and cabin filter. Thought maybe it needed some TLC. Poor baby. Afterwards the check engine light was off. YAY… right? Nope. Got on the expressway where the Jeep conked out on me again in the middle of traffic! Thankfully I was in the right lane and eventually I was able to get to the side. I’ve never been more scared in my entire life! Jim was with me and I was literally shaking. I was less than five minutes away from the dealership at the next ramp. By sitting for a few minutes and then cranking the Jeep, I was able to inch by inch get to the exit with my emergency lights blinking. It took us over ONE hour to get less than what five minutes away from the dealership. I could see the dealership from where we were on the expressway! Got to the dealership and they go by appointments only. What?! I need to be a psychic now to know when my car is going to break down? I think they felt sorry for me. They told me to leave it and they would fit it in – okay. What else could I do, right? I had my neighbor come pick us up. What a nice guy he is! It’s so bad how we get used to these items like having a car at your fingertips. We didn’t have a car tonight and it was somewhat scary. Miles Moved: 0.48
Wednesday, December 27, 2017 – Let me tell you a story about my childhood. We didn’t have a lot of money, there were seven of us kids and our car was *always* breaking down. Everywhere! I don’t care if it was to the store, to school or even on vacation. ALWAYS breaking down. Now back in the day, the cars didn’t have all of these electronics and computers like they do today. My dad taught me early on how to tinkle with a car and change it’s oil – even to change my tires and give my own alignment. That’s why today I have to have a new car that RUNS. Yesterday totally brought back all of these old feelings. I was totally in the dumps of what to do/not to do. Here I am recovering from surgery still and I was in a predicament I couldn’t control. I don’t like that. The dealership called and told me that it was a crankshaft sensor that needed to be replaced AND that there was a recall on my Jeep with the airbags. Lovely. I told them to fix it all, make sure that baby runs. I think they felt sorry for me. I had the sweetest person working with me at the dealership. They had everything fixed in a couple of hours. Yeah, it cost me. It wasn’t earth shattering and if it makes the Jeep WORK and run another couple of years, I’m good with that. And the Jeep was cleaned. Did I say that? When I picked it up, they had detailed it spotlessly. ❤ What awesome people they were. And yes I thought about getting rid of it but…I kept going back to no not yet. But I did change it’s name… doesn’t everyone name their cars? The Jeeps name is now Diablo – LOL Miles Moved: 1.43
Thursday, December 28, 2017 – The Jeep is running beautifully – YAY! Like a brand new car. I had a long talk with it this morning. If it behaves and takes care of me, I’ll take care of it. Miles Moved: 1.72
