Paw Time with Houdini

Hey my friends – happy Friday!  Hope you are all full of Thanksgiving dinner. I know we are here at the Hotel Thompson. The proof is in this picture. See me and Hemi can play nice with each other. Of course we are full. I wasn’t ready for picture taking. I was sleeping and full. Go away mom – barks with puppy laughter. Things are settling here with mom. Hopefully she will be back in full swing soon. Now I leave you with Jokes with Daddy. Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Shopping Around the World

Welcome my friends to another edition of Shopping Around the World.  This month my brother Phenny from across the pond helped us out again.  This month Phenny is highlighting potatoes – any way any kind.  We love potatoes here at the Hotel Thompson.  In fact, many of a time you can find me in the kitchen being mom’s sous chef when potatoes are being peeled.  Cause you know mom peels the potatoes right into my food dish.  Love those peels – all of the vitamins and nutrients are good for my coat.  Well that’s what I keep saying – snorts with piggy laughter.

Without further ado, I’m going to let mom take care of sharing a recipe of potatoes.  Why?  Because she is the official cook and this is something she can do without burning them… maybe.

Something that the hub loves is French fries – who doesn’t right?  Not only does he love French fries but he loves it when I fix these easy fries. Here is what you need:

1 pack of bacon ($2.50 on sale)

bunch of shredded cheese (one block of cheese was $2.50)

2 large potatoes (we buy a bag full that makes it around $0.50 for these 2 potatoes)

cooking oil (big bottle that I use to fry with – maybe $0.50)

We love home cooked French fries. I take the peel off of the potatoes and Bacon enjoys them. While he’s eating, I fry the bacon on the stove far far away from my baby – you know for obvious reasons. While the bacon is cooking, cut up your potatoes as skinny or fat as you want into strips. Fry your potatoes in hot oil on the stove. Don’t overcrowd and get them crispy.

While your potatoes are cooking, finish your bacon and chop your bacon up into pieces. Turn on your over to low and get out a baking tray. As your fries get done, drain them on paper towels and then put them on the baking sheet spaced out and not clumped together.  Remember to salt them and do your next batch.  While your second batch is cooking, grate up your cheese – as much as you want.

When your second batch of fries is done, do the same as the first.  Once all the fries are spread out on your baking, spread the grated cheese all over the top of them.  Put the baking tray in the oven just long enough to melt the cheese all over the french fries.  Pull the tray out and plate them topping them with the crumbled bacon.  These are great snacks for anytime – especially watching football games!
