On September 11, 2001, horrible terrorist actions took place in the United States. Hijackers took over American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175 crashing the planes into the North and SouthTowers of the World Trade Center in New York City.
Other hijackers took over American Airlines Flight 77 crashing into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia.
Other hijackers attempted to pilot a fourth hijacked jet, United Airlines Flight 93, to crash into the United States Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. However, passengers attempted to take control of the flight and crashed in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Nearly 3,000 people died in these attacks. Each year in the United States, we now refer to September 11 as Patriot Day, or 9/11. This is to honor those who lost their lives in the senseless terrorist act. We will never forget and we will always remember.

we still can not believe that THIS really happened… our thoughts are with the families of the victims today and with the helpers who risked their lives …

I know. In amazement we still think about this and just cry. We watched a documentary this past weekend on it. You just are in awe of all of the hero’s surrounding this day.
