Mom’s Christmas Picks

Hello friends.  It’s not too late to get some last minute Christmas ideas on your list.  Today, I’m going to share some of my Christmas picks.  These are things that I have come across that I find fascinating and wonderful.  If you have found something this year, please also share.  The shopping days are ticking down!  ❤

My first pick – knitted gloves.  They have these types of gloves in all kinds of different sizes and materials.  They have them longer, shorter, with fingers and without fingers.  They look fashionable yet let me tell you a little secret.  If you have someone you know that has arthritis – they need these types of gloves.  I’ve been having a lot of joint pain and my wrists are really bad.  These gloves give my wrists just a little bit of warmth and comfort.  I wear these with long or short sleeved shirts – in and around the house.  Say what you want to the fashionistas in the world – these gloves rock.  They are on the top of my list.

And a blessing – you can find these on Amazon at all kinds of different prices – from less than $2.00 to the ones on the higher end of $20.00 – check them out 🙂

Next up –  make up.  What girl doesn’t love a good quality make up?  And yes, I’m confident in myself to show you this fabulous company I have found.  I saw an infomercial a while back on IT Cosmetics.  I thought it looked interesting and finally broke down and got some make up from them.  It came in the mail so quickly and in such a cute little package.  I tried it and let me tell you something – I’m never.going.back!  This is the best make up that I have tried in my entire life.  This coming from a girl that use to only using Clinique products.  Now I will tell you that IT Cosmetics are not cheap but they are amazing!  I’m showing you my before and after pictures so you can see how beautiful the product works.

I am using Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ (medium).  This is your base and goes on like a cream.  It does not feel like a foundation at all and look at all of the imperfections in my face that it covers – totally awesome.  And a little bit goes a long ways.  I then followed this with Bye Bye Pores.  This is a powder that really does make your pores disappear and it is so silky.  Then I added my regular eye and lip make up.  Can you see the difference?  Like I said it is costly, these two products I ordered set me back around $60 BUT again a little goes a long way. AND they do not test their products on animals – isn’t that another great plus?!

My final pick – Pony Up Daddy.  This is hilarious and I absolutely fell in love with this.  At first, I really thought it was a joke.  But it’s no joke!  How many times have your children or grandchildren wanted to play horsey on your back while you went around the house on all fours?  Here you go – a ‘saddle’ that velcros around the horses waist.  The child then climbs aboard for the ride of their life.  Where has this been all of our lives?  I can just see my hub unit using one of these with the kids in our lives – what a blast!  Price range – around $25.00 – I’ve seen them on Amazon and at Wal-Mart.

So friends – what have you found for this Christmas season?  Please share!

Our little friend Bashful has been out of the picture lately. Between decorating for the holidays and entertaining out-of-town guests, he’s had his hands full. (Okay, so Bashful doesn’t have hands, but you know what I mean.)

This past Monday, Bashful got back to living the New Orleans life, and on Mondays that means laundry and red beans and rice. My human mommy/blogging assistant did a little research into why red beans are such a Monday staple in my hometown, and she found this nugget of wisdom from the Camellia Beans people:

Old habits die hard. New Orleanians continue, with ritualistic fervor, to consume red beans and rice on Mondays. Spicy Caribbean recipes for beans and rice were brought to the city in the late 1700s by French-speaking Haitians fleeing the revolution in Saint Domingue (modern-day Haiti). Local housewives and housekeepers quickly adapted the thrifty, convenient practice of tossing meaty…

Paw Time with Houdini

Barks!  Hello friends – how are you doing?  I’m just here chilling out on *my* ottoman.  It’s the perfect place to hang out to watch television.  This date I was watching the cartoon channel.  You gotta love some Scooby Doo – he rocks totally!  Do you like my onesie I’m wearing?  Notice the teddy bear on my butt?  It’s been following me around.  I keep trying to catch him but he’s fast.  The outfit keeps me warm and cuddly but I do have one bad thing to say about it.  Do you know how hard it is to maintain your toughness while barking at the mailman dressed in a cute little onesie with a teddy bear on your butt?  The mailman laughed at me.  Can you believe that friends?  He laughed!  A nice loud chuckle at that.  I’m so going to have to rethink my attire.

Today, I leave you with something that daddy has found recently while shopping.  All of us here at the Hotel Thompson think that this is one of our favorite Santas.  What do you think?
