Shopping Around the World and Bacon’s Show and Tell – Mark Your Calendars

Hello sweet friends –

Never fear, we did not forget about our most important dates of the  month – no way!  Please remember to mark your calendars for our two important dates below and make plans to participate.  The more participation, the more recipes and embarrassing stories – yay!

Shopping Around the World

Shopping Around the World is hosted by us and our friend Fozziemom.  This month it is scheduled for November 30th – after the holiday so we can all make plans.  Since it is the Thanksgiving holidays here in the States, this month we will focus on Thanksgiving foods.  So, you can post appetizers, side dishes, salads, soups, main entrees or desserts.  What is something that you look forward to once a year at Thanksgiving.  I mean yes we can have it throughout the year but having it at Thanksgiving screams the holiday?  This gives you a wide variety of foods you can come up with.  Fix whatever your dish is, take pictures and post it with recipes and prices on November 30th on your blog.  Remember to link back to my blog posting so people can see yours.  This is a wonderful way to (1) meet new friends in blogville and (2) get some wonderful recipes.  And I’ll admit it.  This piggy has been known to visit on these days and lick the computer screen at some of your awesome dishes.  I’m just sayin’ – some of pictures look out of this world!!

Bacon’s Show and Tell

To me, what better time of the year to share some embarrassing stories from Thanksgiving.  Did you gather as a family for dinner and someone do something hilarious?  Did you have a mishap and spill your plate or cut the turkey in a strange way?  Go ahead my friends, let’s talk about something funny our humans do or did during their Thanksgiving holidays.  I know these stories will be good!  Bacon’s Show and Tell is scheduled for November 29th due to the holiday.  Remember to do your blog and link back to my blog so we can all see what everyone shares.  Thanks my friend – can’t wait for some great stories.

Spotlight Thursday – Meet Sulley… AKA Angel Pants

Spotlight Thursday

Welcome my friends to SPOTLIGHT THURSDAY.  This is the time that I will introduce you to one of my fellow anipals so you can get to know them better.  Some of them, you may already know.  We hope that you enjoy this series!

♥ FRIENDS – make sure you leave some messages.  Angel Pants will be checking in throughout the day and answering comments. ♥

Name:  Sulley (AKA:  Angel Pants)

Age:  3 years young

Location:  Georgia

What were your first thoughts when you met your new parents?  I got her but he’s gonna take some work.

How did you meet your parents?  My mom was looking at puppies online and when she saw me she fell in love.  My daddy picked me up, and I sang to him the whole way to the doctor’s office.  I sang so good that he called my mom to let her hear me too.  I played with dad all day.  Mom got home from work and “licked”, she called it kisses, all over me the rest of the night.

What was the defining moment when you knew you were in your forever home?  The day they found out I was deaf, they let me stay and started talking to me with their hands.

How did your parents find out you were deaf and how do they accommodate your needs?  The doctor told dad that a lot of puppies like me, all white, were deaf.  Something about the lack of pigment and nerves not developing.  After about a week, they knew I couldn’t hear them say they loved me, so mom found other ways to show me.  I am very smart so it didn’t take long for mom to show me a hand sign and then show me what she wanted me to do.  I learned sit first.  I didn’t bark a lot and was kind of a sneak around the house so they had to keep a close eye on me.  Mom didn’t want to miss me telling her I had to go potty so she got this idea from other parents about a bell.  Mom hung the bell by the back door and every time she took me out, she would take my paw and tap the bell.  I couldn’t hear it, but I knew what I was supposed to do.  I learned img_7864that when I went potty in the house, I didn’t get a yummy treat; but when I tapped the bell I got a treat; when we got outside I got a treat and when I went potty outside, I got even more treats.  It was great so I just kept doing it.  Who doesn’t like treats?  I have learned lots of signs like kisses, I love you, lay down, speak, shake, dance, sit up, outside, peanut butter and of course come here (mom uses that a lot because I still tend to sneak around a little).

What has been your biggest “Oh no, now I’ve done it” moment so far in your home?   I tore up my stuffed squirrel and swallowed the tail with the squeaker.   I was really a good boy and still am.  I learned the rules pretty quick but there was this one time….Let me say that IF I did chew on something, it always belonged to dad (hehehe).

Who do you have wrapped around your paws more – mom or dad – and why?  Definitely mom!  She says I do no wrong.  I “help” her around the house and love her with my sweet eyes and yummy, slobbery kisses.

What’s your favorite thing to do?  My favorite thing to do is go where ever mom is and play outside with dad.  When he runs at me I get so excited.  I run in circles around the yard and then run back at him.  He is kind of old so I let him think he catches me sometimes.  Me and mom know though.  I like playing with my boxer fur sister, Tess, too.  When I sit in MY chair like that, I’m just trying not to fall asleep because I don’t want to miss anything.  I’m a laid back guy that watches over the house and keeps mom and dad guessing.  We learn new things everyday.  Right now I’m learning how to “search” like the K-9s do.  We just started, but I’m doing good.  I keep mom busy because I get board easy, I don’t have the heart to tell her that it’s her that’s being “trained”.  Me and dad know though.

Tell me a funny:  So…mom and dad were in the driveway building this big box.  Dad had gotten into the trunk of his work car to get something and a few minutes later they heard the doors to the car lock.  Dad said it probably locked automatically after a few minutes.  So, a few minutes later the doors unlocked, then locked, unlocked, then locked…you get the picture.  I had dad’s remote and when mom came in and saw me she laughed and laughed.  Whew, I thought for sure I was in trouble, but she took the remote, told me “no” (shook her finger and looked at me funny); kissed my nose and signed that she loved me.

What’s your favorite treat?  I am really a picky eater but I love my peanut butter and fresh strawberries.  I don’t get a lot of the same food that mom and dad eat but every once in a while mom will give me a couple of Cheetos and dad will give me a bite of his Popsicle.  Me and Tess just had our first Dairy Queen ice cream cone this past weekend.  Yummy!

What’s the biggest misconception that humans think about you?  They assume I am mean when they see me and that something is wrong because I am all white.

Hope you enjoyed meeting my friend – check back next week for another Spotlight edition!
