National Sandwich Day

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel here –

Keeping my paws on the nuts of the world!

Friends – this is an awesome day – National Sandwich Day!  Sandwiches are so varied in how you can make them – what bread, what meats, hot or cold, grilled, pressed, open or closed, condiments, toppings – sigh – let me slow down.  The options are out there my friends.  Do you know how the day got started?

English history says that John Montagu was the 4th Earl of Sandwich.  He was a heavy gambler and would spend hours at the tables in London’s gambling halls.  In 1762, he created the sandwich by putting meat between two pieces of bread.  This allowed him to stay at the tables longer to gamble.  Thus, the sandwich was made.

And do you know what Elvis Presley liked on his sandwiches?  Peanut butter, banana and bacon (sorry Bacon) and then it was grilled.  It does sound interesting in a round about way.

Men Make Dinner Day

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel here –

Keeping my paws on the nuts of the world!

Oh ladies – I’ve got a holiday made just for you today.  The first Thursday in November is considered Men Make Dinner Day.  Doesn’t that sound totally awesome?  Ladies can sit back and let their man cook them dinner for a chance.  And we are talking the entire dinner to include dessert!  So let me tell you the details.

Guys, sit your woman in the living room with a glass of wine, pop their feet up and give THEM the remote control for a while.  You then head off to the kitchen and prepare that masterpiece for dinner.  Now, here’s an important thing. Put that phone away.  No take out or reservations.  You have to cook this meal all by yourself.  It can be as simple or as complex as you want it be.  What’s your specialty?  A nice burger?  An omelet?  Soup?  Sandwich?  Whatever it is – make it special for your woman.

Oh and men.  Don’t forget that cooking dinner also means cleaning the kitchen afterwards. 🙂

Spotlight Thursday – Meet Cleo and Lunas

Spotlight Thursday

Welcome my friends to SPOTLIGHT THURSDAY.  This is the time that I will introduce you to one of my fellow anipals so you can get to know them better.  Some of them, you may already know.  We hope that you enjoy this series!

♥ FRIENDS – make sure you leave some messages.  Cleo and Luna will be checking in throughout the day and answering comments.   And just as a bit of information.  Do you know who Cleo and Luna are related to?  Our great friends Shoko and Kali from Canadian Cats.  ♥

Name:  Cleo & Luna Hudson

Age:  15 months

Location:  Surrey, BC. Canada 💕

What were your first thoughts when you met your new parents?  Luna says it was a new adventure cause she popped right out of the crate. Me (Cleo) i was a bit shy. I just hung out in the crate and observed. Then i smelt food. They know the way to our hearts. They gave us lots of attention at the shelter and moms a kissy face.  Luna loved it, me on the other hand wasn’t sure but i guess it was ok.

What was the defining moment when you knew you were in your forever home? Well….we had a four hour car ride all the way from Pemberton BC, to our new house in S❤urrey. Our 2 sisters welcomed us when our crate door was opened. We were apprehensive at first but then mom gave us some real good food, showed us our box for…uumm…well you know 😉 and took us to the biggest comfyist bed we’d ever seen!! And we got our own blankie too! We decided we weren’t ever gonna leave.

What has been your biggest “Oh no, now I’ve done it” moment so far in your home? That’s easy. Luna likes to investigate and she saw sister Jinx on top of the china cabinet. Luna decided she had to see if she could get up there. According to Luna, she said it was a tight fit and mom had this thing up there…some ice bucket made with crystal. Which is weird to keep ice in a bucket.  So Luna gave it a little nudge and BOOM!! it smashed allll over the house. Mom was some mad but made sure we didn’t cut our paws as we tried to help her clean it up. Mom said it was ok as long as Luna or anyone else didn’t get hurt. She even gave us snuggles to reassure us it was ok.

Who do you have wrapped around your paws more – mom or dad – and why?  We all have Mom wrapped around our paws…but Cleo and Jinx like dad for things only dad’s can do. Jinx says Dad is better to snuggle with cause he doesn’t move. Mom is always fussing about. Cleo says dad carries her like the queen she is. She likes going for rides with Dad only. But i think Mom gives the best kisses!

What’s the biggest misconception that humans think about you?  I asked my sisters ( i have 3 of them) and it’s probably that we cats are lazy – not true at all. We are great burglars. We steal treats all the time and thats hard work to be very quiet and stealthy like. We also like to race around the house and play chase, especially when its dark and quiet.  And how do u think all those toys get under the couch and fridge?? Hard work thatz how!! MOL

Hope you enjoyed meeting my friend – check back next week for another Spotlight edition!
