Journey with Friends

03 Oct

Welcome my friends to our weekly issue of Journey with Friends.  This is a time that we come together for support, for encouragement, for fellowship – all with one single goal in mind – to live better.  Welcome to our journey to share our goals and our accomplishments and our disappointments and frustrations.

Together we can do this!

Hey sweet friends!  How did you do last week?  We are moving right along here at the Hotel Thompson.  I’m actually doing good.  I’ve been working a lot of different hours but I’ve also been watching what I’m eating.  It’s meshing the two half way these days.  Complicated but it’s working.  I no way got my walking in because of work.  But I can say that the weather is getting cooler.  Most days it’s still hotter than you can imagine but every couple of days, Fall tries to kick in and make an appearance.  And another thing about fall – pumpkin.  Oh my!  I just can’t get enough of pumpkin.  I actually found a recipe for pumpkin muffins with cream cheese.  I’m going to see if I can tweak the recipe to get rid of some of the sugar and try it maybe this coming up weekend.  It sounds so marvelous.  I’ll keep you posted and try to take pics.  How are you with pumpkin – yay or nay?

So my friends – how was YOUR week?  Hugs to a great week.

Double YAY on the pumpkin! I keep it on my pantry shelf all year long since it not only tastes good, it’s good for pups who have upset tummies. 🙂

It tis the year, right? Mom keeps saying that it just comes once a year so you have to splurge. What she doesn’t finish with is that ‘her year’ is from October 1 to December 31. Snorts with piggy laughter. XOXO – Bacon

Pumpkin is my favorite flavor next to coffee. Fortuitous that they go together. Try substituting powdered stevia for sugar in anything but frosting.

Oh my! I must try that indeed. I even found Pumpkin Spice Cheerios this past weekend at the market. Of course I got a box. Heart smart and pumpkin flavored – yummo! June

Pumpkin gets into soup at my house. And sometimes into pumpkin cake (basically carrot cake with pumpkin instead of carrots). But I have read a pumpkin-apple-jam recipe and I am tempted.

Pumpkin muffins with cream cheese – uhm … only a good idea when you take them to work so you do not eat that many of them … that is sugar and fat and while that is tasty it’s not recommendable, when you want to try to adjust your weight.

(Neither would pumpkin cake be). So yes, make them – but share them with your office. Make them to get them out of your head. Share them to get them out of your reach.

It is always easier to avoid what is not recommendable when you just not have treats in the house.

So true. But I’m thinking the muffins would freeze well too if wrapped individually. That would be awesome at times. June
P.S. I’ve also seen the muffins made with sugar substitute. Might try that.

Uhm – you know that sugar substitute is used to fatten piggies? They eat more when they taste “sweet” – but no calories arrive in the stomach.

YES!! I actually had a neighbor stop me last night on the way to my mailbox that asked me how I was slimming down – LOL. Stress baby. It does wonders. And also PAIN. Sometimes when you are in a lot of pain, eating is the last thing you want to think about. Darn this rheumatoid arthritis! June

maybe they picked the word die-t for a reason? the worst is that stress and pains can mess up the tastiest foods&snack… even häagen dazs or ben&jerry… what a sh*t :o(
