Like many people, Saturday night was mom/dad’s date night. You might remember that a couple of week’s ago, they went to dine at the finest restaurant this south of Atlanta. It was the Sam’s Warehouse – snorts with piggy laughter. Daddy went in and asked for a table for two – rolls piggy eyes. He’s the romantic isn’t he? The previous night they had pizza. Well mom must have enjoyed her fine dining experience because last night she wanted to go back. But this time, they wanted hot dogs with the works. By the works I mean sauerkraut, onions and mustard. Dad also went the extra mile with a bag of chips. Now you are probably asking yourself was this as awesome as the pizza night? Nods head. Mom said YES. For a whopping $5.00 – they had dinner for two. Big spenders huh?
Now after they were eating and were just sitting there talking, they saw some peeps they knew. The peeps came over and sat with mom/dad asking them what they were doing. Mom said they were on their date night. The peep said, “Hogwash – you’re married now. There are no date nights”. What? Mom/dad didn’t get that memo. They always have weekly date nights. Don’t your parents?

In reality it’s not always a night out. We like Sunday brunches, picnics, drives, movies on TV. (We have a very nice tv!) And of course Denver Bronco football, Win or lose, Thurs., Sat., Sunday afternoon or night or Monday night. . .

Exactly! Mom/dad have their ‘set’ television nights. In fact, they do everything together. You usually don’t see one without the other in public. I guess that’s why they get into trouble all of the time. Snorts with piggy laughter. XOXO – Bacon

Ah date night..well Bacon we have rare date nights..more likely we are too tired ..but we do love our local as a place to go..problem is i freak at being on the road at night..roos and such..so we have often date lunches..yesterday at Macca’s az we were busy on the fly ! Xxx Fozziemum

But you still make time for each other which is the most important thing I’ve heard to keep marriages new and long-lasting. And heck, mom/dad said they even had date night when ya’ll were here together. Those people seem to have made a mistake when they cannot enjoy the romance of a date night in a marriage! Of course you arrange date nights with both not having any work to do when going out, if you want to, some dressing up, doing something extraordinary, something lovely, giving yourselves a treat. That is a concept that every marriage should not forget about (though with children they take more effort and might be less than once a week).

This is true. But mom/dad they always try to go out at least once a week just the two of them – sometimes it might go two weeks depending on activities. But that’s the joy in keeping marriage alive. XOXO – Bacon

Mom and Dad used to go dancing all the time, but since Dad sprained his ankle, they cuddle on the couch and watch their favorite Netflix show(s). I am glad they are staying home with me, since I have started getting anxious when they – especially Mom – leaves.
