Bacon’s Show and Tell

31 May

Thanks to everyone that participated in my Bacon’s Show and Tell last month – did you have fun?  I know we did here at the Hotel Thompson. We absolutely LOVE these Show and Tell pictures and stories.

For this month – we want to know what was your all time favorite toy growing up.  Do you have a picture?  How long did you keep it?  What did this toy do?  Share the story of your favorite toy and what it meant to you my friends.

My moms favorite toy growing up was a game called Perfection.  You get a quick 60 seconds to place 25 pieces of various shapes and sizes into the correct spot. If you get them before your time is up, you win. If you don’t get them in time, all the pieces pop up all over the place scaring the beejeesus out of you… Well so mom says. Mom got really good at the game. So good in fact that she would get people she could do it for a $1.00 – so even then mom was working it – snorts with piggy laughter.

what a clever idea to make money within 60 seconds :O) the mama was not allowed to have toys with small parts, mostly it ended at the dogtors with small toy-stuff in her ears or her nose LOL

Snorts with piggy laughter. Once mom got a small toy stuck in her belly button. Shaking my head. Only something that humans would do, right brother? XOXO – Bacon

I used to have some mosaic-pins on a plastic frame which I loved when I was a kid. In fact I am reported to have said: “I could do that till I reach pension age”.
I was wrong. When I learned to read my favourite toy were books.

Mama’s favorite toy (s) were Winnie The Pooh and Piglet. Not that Walt Disney crap. The real AG Shepherd style Pooh & Piglet. She saved her allowance for quite some time. Both were so well loved that Pooh’s sweater & Piglet’s s are had to be replaced and Pooh only has one eye. However to Mama, they are treasures still. She could do great harm to Walt Disney for messing with this classic. After all, her Mama had to take her screaming out of Bambi and Fantasia still gives her nightmares…..

hands down, yahtzee! Over and over and over… until I got a yahtzee game for the computer years later. We still love games, and have a group of friends who get together for game nights.

How clever of your Mom to make money off her favorite game. My Mom’s was anything tomboyish. She loved to play baseball with the neighbor boys, dig holes to china (she decided one summer to turn it into a trap like hunters in Africa do with tigers, and unfortunately caught the neighbor lady) and build snow forts to have snowball fights.

Squeals! Your mom was just like my mom. She had five older brothers and she was a tomboy big time! She could climb trees better than her brothers. Y’all would make a great team together. XOXO – Bacon

I had that. Another game they’d never make today since three year olds would choke on the pieces. Get your brother to choke on all 25 pieces before the timer goes off or they’ll pop out of his mouth!

Snorts with piggy laughter. Oh my friend – it does look like butter. Yum butter. That reminds me of popcorn. Popcorn reminds me of mom cooking popcorn. Gotta run – my pot belly is rumbling. XOXO – Bacon
