Sometimes with all of the stress and worries that come with being an adult, you have to take a step back and revert back to childhood. This has been a tough month for a lot of people – not just here at the Hotel Thompson – but all over blogville.
Last night, mom got home and just gave dad one of “those” sighs. You know the one I’m talking about. The one where you are done. Empty. Totally wiped out. Feeling uncherished, unwanted, unloved and miserable. Nothing particular sparked it but everything attributed to it. You know that feeling? Mom calls those feelings feeling magenta. Shrugs piggy shoulders. I’m not sure why magenta but she picked magenta.
Well daddy told her last night that was it – it was time to go back to being a kid without adult worries. Mom/dad loaded up in the car and went down the street to the local Dairy Queen. Once there, they ordered two of these delectable peanut butter parfaits, laughed and joked while eating their treats. And guess what? It did the job. Both mom/dad came back home more lighter with worries.
So, have you had your kid treat lately? I think tonight they are meeting the local ice cream truck at the curb. Maybe I can get in on some of that action – snorts with piggy laughter.

What were your first thoughts when you met your new parents? Well the nice people from the North Melbourne Lost dogs home gave a lead to my peeps and suggested they take me a walk on the grass around my cage. It was very nice to pee on the grass and sniff around but I had no idea I would soon be joining them as a member of their family. I felt scared on the way home and I threw up in the car but no one got cross with me. When I got to their house, I found they lived near a creek and the little boy wanted me to run along the creek and have adventures with him. I LOVE doing that. There were other critters there too and they seemed very relaxed and friendly towards me. I was got for the little boy, my brother Shane and I LOVE him very much but most of all ,I love my Auntie Sharon. She just panders to my needs 24 hours a day and I would protect and do anything for her. I bring her rats and mice to show my worth!
What was the defining moment when you knew you were in your forever home? When I saw my room all set up with a doggie bed, water dish, toys and a doggie door to the the garden.
What has been your biggest “Oh no, now I’ve done it” moment so far in your home? Well I don’t like it when they go to work or school and leave me behind so I show them by ripping all their fancy woodwork. They have lined the house with metal which has made it hard for me to destroy it. They are hard to make cross those peeps.
Who do you have wrapped around your paws more – mom or dad – and why? I have EVERYONE wrapped around my paws. I am just pure awesome.
What’s the biggest misconception that humans think about you? They are all under the delusion I am a small dog but I am HUGE!
Hope you enjoyed meeting my friend Jack – check back next week for another Spotlight edition!
