There we were this past weekend, errands were taken care of and mom and dad finally were resting in the living room. There wasn’t anything “good” on television so they decided to watch the cartoon channel. Yes I’m glad to report that they are not that old yet – snorts with piggy laughter.
So they were watching their cartoons, laughing and acting like two year olds. They started talking about Saturday morning cartoons and what they used to watch on television. That made us all think. What were some of your favorite cartoons while you were growing up?
Mom and dads were: Scooby Doo (mom still loves this show today), the Flintstones, the Jetsons, Mighty Mouse, Heckle and Jeckle, Thundercats, the Looney Tunes, the Huckleberry Hound Show, Yogi Bear, Jonny Quest, Speed Racer, Hong Kong Phooey and Jabber Jaw.
Do you remember these? What were your favorites?

Rather none of those. I went to school on 2 Saturdays a month. And on weekends I did not go to school my grandfather had plans for us – either go and visit some relatives elsewhere or going shopping (food shopping, mostly) or help around the house. TV was not on till after midday, when my grandfather watched the news.

Oh no. I’m sorry to hear that my friend. Cartoons on Saturday mornings was like a rite of passage for kids here. We lived for them – and snorts – some of us still do. XOXO – Bacon

I liked Speed Racer too even though the Japanese actors could not get the English timing right. I think when I was very young the Road Runner was my favorite. A few years later it was Hong Kong Phooey. Remember that one? https://youtu.be/Va_Rmpd3PZI

We lived in a pretty isolated place but got TV when I was about 9 years old and it came on in the afternoon and from 4 pm were the kids shows. My brother and I liked The Flintstones, Road Runner, Huckleberry Hound, The Banana Splits, Secret Squirrel, Batfink and the Bugs Bunny Show. Big fun! We also saw Disney cartoons at a cinema. I still love cartoons and the new ones are good and very clever but the old ones were GREAT! 😀

Also the music in the cartoons was often of a VERY high standard and featured a full orchestra.

YES! What a fun cartoon that was. Every time I see a frog in my magical backyard (which there are plenty right now during this time of the year), I expect at least one of them to start dancing and singing for me to that song. Wouldn’t that be a blast Auntie Sharon? XOXO – Bacon
