What Would You Choose?

22 Mar

Only items you can pick, what would you pick?  I think I’ve watched the television series Naked and Afraid too many times.  I’ve really thought about this and my picks are:

pot, matches, tent and knife

I could use the knife to filet fish or lobster from the ocean.  I could use the matches to light the fire under the pot to cook the fish/lobster.  Then I could nap in the tent so I had a break from the sun or rain if it happened.  What would you choose and why?

I’d take the matches and the pot so I could purify water and cook food. Then the first aid kit because have you seen some of the nasty wounds they get on Survivor? Yuck! Then maybe the knife because I would feel better with some kind of weapon. But I really hope getting stranded on a deserted island is something I don’t experience. It looks so…dirty. I would be a raving lunatic after three days with no shower or clean clothes!

The tarp for shelter and to catch condensation and rain. The first aid kit because infection in tropics just no. The knife to cut a spear so one could fish and also a crochet hook because leaves can be turned into fibre and clothes and blankets. Lastly the mirror to light the fire to cook the fish, signal for help and check one’s hair and makeup. Gotta look nice for the rescuers ! 😊

breaking news! aussie bushwoman and her celebrity pignew found alive and well, sipping fruit juices and reclining on lounge chairs under a crocheted fiber umbrella. “I will miss the peace and quiet” said Aunt Sharon. “Oink!” replied Bacon.

Inflatable raft and water purifier, flashlight … that should be enough.
The raft should get me home, the water purifier should make sure I would not dehydrate, the flashlight would alert passing ships.

    1. Water purifier, because water is the number one thing you need to survive.
    2. Knife for cutting things such as island food, materials, etc.
    3. Tent for shelter.
    4. Flare gun to notify help when needed.

I’m with you mostly, Bacon. I would choose tent, matches, knife and I would trade the pot for water purifier because cooking food in a pot is not necessary for survival but a water purifier might be. Boiling water helps but won’t remove all the harmful contaminants. Of coarse, if I knew where I would be stranded, that might change the list.
