Welcome my friends to our weekly issue of Journey with Friends. This is a time that we come together for support, for encouragement, for fellowship – all with one single goal in mind – to live better. Welcome to our journey to share our goals and our accomplishments and our disappointments and frustrations.
Together we can do this!
Another week down my friends – how are you doing? This week I have maintained my current weight loss so I’m feeling good about that. The scales are at least in my favor – hip hooray! I’m still not feeling 100% from the flu. It’s so strange. There are days that I feel totally awesome and then the next day it’s like WOW – I feel so tired and drained. My iron levels are low so I think that accounts for some of it. I’m trying to eat stuff these days to help out with my iron.
I did get back to the plasma clinic this past week. Can you believe I have made 28 donations now to help out others? It’s such a small gesture on my part and I really hope that it helps. My pulse rate is staying within range so that’s a plus. And this time of the year at the clinic, the lines are so short! Do you remember me telling you about having to weight 3-4 hours just to donate? These days, I’m in and out usually within an hour.
Hope your week went fabulous my friends. Remember – stick with whatever plan you are doing – we are all here to help each other out – hugs!

Sounds like you are doing well and that is wonderful about the plasma. I am down 2 pounds because I have been having Konjak noodles all week which are healthy and filling but almost calorie free. Wow! Where have they been all my life! 😀

They sound marvelous! I need to look into them and see if we can get them here. That sounds like something I need. And thanks about the plasma. It’s a small way to help out others and I feel good that I can give it. June

Apparently in America it is called Shirataki, noodle, rice and pasta. 😀

Thanks so very much. I really am feeling better and better with each passing day. Me and the hub unit spent a lot of time getting rest this weekend. I think that paid off too. June

It’s great that you plan to go back to the donations :o) My iron level has the same state like my wallet, but it is not easy to raise it with food or health supplements…. if you found out what works, please inform me…

Thanks my friend! Iron levels they told me can go up with eating of green foods so I’ve been eating lots of them. And with us being women – arrgghh – our iron levels drop once a month. It’s a hard thing to get them where they need to be but I’m working on it. June

How wonderful that you are sticking to your plan. And all those donations, that is impressive. It takes the body a long time to rid itself of the toxins of illness like flu, so keep doing things that build your immune system back up. Slow and steady wins the race. – Lorian of DogDaz Zoo

Thank you so very much. I really appreciate that support. It means a lot to me. And I’ve been trying to be good to myself with lots of rest and fluids. It seems to be working. I feel really good today. June

Good for you on your plasma donations. ❣ Is it like donating blood?
Fluids, especially water, are a good thing. Helps keep the weight down too.

With plasma donations, they hook you up to an IV, your blood is circulated out of your body and plasma is stripped from it being placed in a bottle. Your blood is then given back to you. Water helps all of this so I’ve been drinking tons. June

It can take a few weeks to fully bounce back from the level of flu you had. Don’t worry so much about weight loss, and just eat to feel well. I had a great thin crust chicken pesto pizza yesterday. The crust gave me heartburn but was totally worth it. If I could get some good sleep, I’d feel much better. Go easy.

Oh WOW that pizza sounds heavenly. I love the thin crust. I’m glad you brought heartburn up. I’ve been having that a lot since being sick. Today it seems better. I’m trying to eat more smaller meals and that also seems to be helping out a bit. June

Thanks my sweet friend. I’m slowly getting back to my old self which is great! At least I’m feeling well enough to do the plasma donation. LOL – I call that my hour of relaxation – it’s great. June

The Man says salmonella is a great way to lose weight lol! He lost 4 lbs. Congrats on keeping the scale in your favour and giving plasma even when you are unwell.
I have had gut issues my whole life and I have taken on a challenge – a very restricted elimination diet for the next month or so. No gluten, dairy, soy, sugar, corn, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, peaches, or strawberries. 7-9 servings of veggies a day. 2 servings of fruit. At least 8 glasses of water. I am doing this with a nutritionist and am not doing it to lose weight, but think I might!
