Journey with Friends

07 Mar

Welcome my friends to our weekly issue of Journey with Friends.  This is a time that we come together for support, for encouragement, for fellowship – all with one single goal in mind – to live better.  Welcome to our journey to share our goals and our accomplishments and our disappointments and frustrations.

Together we can do this!

Hello friends. I write this post from my bed. Some of you may know while others don’t about my current situation. I came home from work early last Thursday not feeling so well. I was aching and coughing – a cough I might add is from the depths of hell. I couldn’t sleep that night and was having difficulty breathing. About 6:30am on Friday, I told my husband we needed to go to emergency care because it was getting worse.

Once at the emergency room, they took me straight back and hooked me up to oxygen and started breathing treatments. They took blood, throat and nose cultures, gave me liquid codeine for my cough and gave me steroids. After my second breathing treatment, I started feeling a little better.

That is until the doctor finally came back with my test results – flu. And yes I did get a flu shot this year. The doctor explained that the flu strain they were seeing wasn’t what the flu shot had. Yay me huh?  The doctor wanted me to stay the night but where do you want to be when you’re sick?  Your own bed in your own home. So they did let me go sending me home with a breathing machine.  I’m also taking steroids and ibuprofen. I was instructed to be quarantined with strict bed rest.

I originally felt like a bus had hit me twice. Now I just feel like I’ve been hit once. The aches and pains are still present but the coughing seems to be getting better.

Thank you so much for all of those that sent prayers, healing vibes and cards. I really appreciated them so very much!

your dogtor is right… even with a shot there are gazillions of flu germs everywhere and to protect us from all is impossible. the flu-germs wait till they found the perfect match and then…. gotcha! I hope the meds help you to kick that flu-gremlin (or GERMlin) out… POTP to you!

Thanks brother! Mom is feeling so much better today. She is actually moving around and went to work. That has to be a good sign. Or maybe she wanted to escape the hazmat area here full of germs – snorts with piggy laughter. XOXO – Bacon

IT’s a heck of a flu going ’round this year…….we know several people who have had it and it’s TOUGH. Just do what your doctor says – and get the rest you need. Soon you won’t even remember getting whacked by that bus! 🙂

    Love, Pam (and Sam)

Thanks cousin. It was definitely a WHACK. Mom said she had never felt this sick before – she could barely do anything without breathing like a dragon. XOXO – Bacon

I’m so glad you’re moving in the right direction with your flu. That must’ve been SO scary. Keep doing what the doctor says to do, and have lots of chicken soup and tea with honey and lemon. Just when you feel like you’re NEVER going to be better, you’ll turn the corner and be up and around like your old self. You can’t rush healing, so relax and wait it out. xo

Thanks my friend – that is great advice. Mom is being nice to herself and just doing what needs to be done, getting lots of rests which is something she just can’t get enough of you know. Hogs and snout kisses – XOXO – Bacon

Thanks my friend. It was definitely a scary thing. I’ve never felt this bad and I just couldn’t breathe the day I went to the ER. I still have a long way to recovery but I’m working on it one day at a time and easing into things. Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers. XOXO – Bacon’s MOM

Love coming at you! I just read a book about the miracle of fruit, that it is healing on many levels. Not to fear the sugar myth of it if you eat the skin, pulp, etc. Apparently, fruit cures all. Give it a go.

POTP to you and Jim. Take care and have some nourishing food like won ton soup. I am off to the doctor today as my immune system is not working good enough to get rid of this bug.

    Love’s ya all,

Oh my poor sweet friend. I know it has hit the both of us, hasn’t it? I enjoyed talking to you last night. Hope you are feeling much better today. I did make it to work – slowly but surely. Take care of you. June

Glad you made it to work today. Don’t push it though…be cool. The drugs are slowly starting to work. I don’t seem to be coughing as much and my sore throat is going away as long as I don’t cough anymore. My voice is getting stronger. Some kitty got into the Colorado catnip last night while I was asleep….I wonder who? LOL

Snorts – that is too funny! You must share a picture of your Colorado pot – Hilarious indeed – mom said she couldn’t believe it when she saw that. Such a great gift…. I wonder who got into it – looks innocent. Mom’s cough doesn’t sound as intense and her voice is fine… as long as she doesn’t talk – snorts with piggy laughter. I’m glad you are feeling better – you had us worried about you! XOXO – Bacon

Thanks my sweet friend! It was definitely a tough weekend for sure. But I think I have finally turned the table and I’m working my way back to being better. I’m taking things slow and easy at work today… one step at a time. I still keep losing my breath just by walking down the hall! I guess it will take time to get back to where I was huh? June

aaww thanks! It was much better recuperating in my own bed than in a hospital bed. I just didn’t want to do that and thank goodness they understood that. I am doing much better – hard time still breathing but at least I’m standing. Thanks for your kind words! XOXO – Bacon’s MOM

This piggy would love to snort with you :)
