Welcome my friends to our weekly issue of Journey with Friends. This is a time that we come together for support, for encouragement, for fellowship – all with one single goal in mind – to live better. Welcome to our journey to share our goals and our accomplishments and our disappointments and frustrations.
Together we can do this!
How did you do my friends? I’ll be honest with you on my side. We had guests this past week and I just threw caution to the wind. I’m up several pounds but I’m okay with that. These memories come but once in a lifetime. And it’s been a blast sharing some southern comfort food with friends. And you know what? We can always have tomorrow in starting over again. LOL

Today, February 20th, is Love Your Pet Day. Now my fellow anipals – isn’t this a day you can celebrate to the fullest? It’s a day for humans to pamper us pets, spend time with us and to give us special treats. Whether its a dog, a cat, a fish, a pet snake or your pet rock……give them lots of love and attention today.
I’ve called in some friends of mine to get the appreciation started. Happy Love Your Pet Day friends!
Thanks to everyone for another great edition of Shopping Around the World last month. It’s so awesome to see the various prices around the world – and the pictures with recipes!
This month we have a suggestion from my brother Easy. This month we are highlighting PASTA – what is your favorite PASTA dish? How do you make it? What kind of noodles do you use? What is in your PASTA? There is no limit count on ingredients – Share your recipe and picture!
Meet back here on Wednesday, February 24th, 2016 to share your recipe and pictures.
Hello my sweet dear friends. I hope that your week has been exciting and great. There are lots of things going on here this week at the Hotel Thompson.
One thing was – coughs – I was in trouble last weekend. Okay, I’ll admit it. I’ve been in trouble for this for some time but mom really was upset with me last weekend. You see, when I was younger – don’t laugh – when I was younger and in my teething stage, I might have chewed some zippers off of mom’s pillows on her new sofa. Might is a strong word because no one really saw me but mom told me if she needed to take bite marks for comparison she would so I fessed up. I did it. All five of them in fact – barks! Well, last weekend mom sewed each one back to the way it was suppose to be. And yes, mom might have poked herself while sewing several times and given me looks. Of course, I tried to give her my cutest not me look mommy. So there is a firm rule set in stone now here at the Hotel Thompson – no touchy the pillows Houdini. Can you believe she used my name like that? Hangs head low.
And we have visitors this week. Two friends that mom/dad went and met last year are in our area again visiting. Mom has taken some time off of the worky place so they can all play together. You do realize that this means trouble right? Cause I just know they may need bail money this week… and probably next week because they are all going out of town for a couple of days and leaving all of us.
Oh I shouldn’t say “all” of us because a certain oinker – not mentioning names – has went to camp this week and all of next week. Why? So mom/dad could have fun with these friends – which I will tell you about later with some pictures. You see the purr things – they can take care of themselves. And me well I can take care of myself but Nana will watch me a couple of days next week. Bacon well he’s like a little kid as mom described it. He doesn’t take being by himself too well and Nana can’t watch him while she has her hands full with me and her two pooches. So, mom/dad called the farm where Bacon went to camp last year. They have other anipals that Bacon had a blast with and that’s where he gets to go for his adventure. So, I’m sure he will have a blast. I hope so anyway. He did bring his computer so don’t fear about his correspondence.
Does anyone really enjoy all of this arguing and calling names? I really don’t. Why can’t we all just get along?
I’ve come up with a solution. Since people running are called politicians and we can’t really trust anything they say – barks! Why don’t I run for president? I think I have just about the same qualifications – you think? And look – mom took this picture of me over the weekend. Don’t you think it screams “Houdini for President”.
And of course, with that being said I have to leave you with another priceless Jokes with daddy video. The man does need to go out and play with others more. Shaking my head. Enjoy my friends. I hope you had a wonderful week as well. Happy weekend!
Today is a very special day –
Today is Nana’s birthday!! I love my Nana!!!

Welcome my friends to SPOTLIGHT THURSDAY. This is the time that I will introduce you to one of my fellow anipals so you can get to know them better. Some of them, you may already know. We hope that you enjoy this series!
Name: Tubby – Tubby’s mom is Sue Brandes who visits us all on the blogs 🙂
Location: Stoughton, WI
Web/Blog Page: None (Tubby will be checking in throughout the day for comments. Please my friends let’s welcome Tubby into the blogville world.)
What were your first thoughts when you met your new parents? Is this for real? I am going to be loved forever.
What was the defining moment when you knew you were in your forever home? When I didn’t feel hungry anymore and I knew I had a warm place to sleep.
What has been your biggest “Oh no, now I’ve done it” moment so far in your home? I decided I would swing from the hanging planter at 3:30AM. Boy was that fun! But mom didn’t like the mess. She was cleaning up dirt for a week. MOL. She didn’t even get mad at me.
Who do you have wrapped around your paws more – mom or dad – and why? Mom I give her a cute look and I know I can do whatever I want
What’s the biggest misconception that humans think about you? That I am quiet and shy. I am very outgoing and love to explore everywhere. And I love people.
Mark your calendars my friend. Bacon’s Show and Tell for January is scheduled for Friday, February 26th, 2016.
This month – the job is on you my fellow anipals. Here is your mission. Go and look on your humans camera roll on their phone, their photo albums, their high school albums for that matter, their senior pictures, prom pictures – any picture you can find of your human. The more embarrassing the better – snorts with piggy laughter. Meet back here in February and let’s have a blast of a time laughing at our humans for a change!
Welcome my friends with our Journey to Israel series. If you have missed the previous two editions please see them at Part I and Part II. This is a wonderful trip that my Aunt took around the Christmas holidays. She was willing to share her adventure with everyone here in blogville. Today she will focus on some sights that she was able to check out. Here you go – hope you enjoy 🙂
Isn’t this just beautiful!?
You think of Israel and it really doesn’t come to mind the beauty of palm trees. I thought of flat lands, mountain areas, a lot of churches and history. But we so much more there. The weather was perfect for our adventures. It almost felt like spring/fall – coolness in the air and not hot at all. We visited at a perfect time because in the summer months temperatures can exceed 109 degrees – way to hot for adventures.
This beautiful picture of palm trees was taken near Masada which is in the southern district of Israel.
On this date, we went through the Masada National Park. There was a small fee to access and explore the park – which I highly recommend you visit. There are actually two paths that you can take for your explorations –
- The Snake Trail leaves from the eastern (Dead Sea) side at the Masada Museum and gains 980 feet in elevation. It is thought that hiking this path is considered part of the “Masada experience”.
- The Roman Ramp trail is also very steep, but has less elevation gain, and is accessed from the western side of the mountain by car.
Here is another picture to the left of some of the paths at Masada. Can you see the beauty – the mountains, the sky and all of the old rocks?
It’s not an easy path to walk and plan on taking lots of breaks to enjoy the scenery. And just to let you know – the path that we walked was equivalent to walking 91 flights of stairs – so says the Apple Health App. Can you believe that?!
Also – have fresh batteries in your camera. You don’t want to miss anything and you definitely want to be able to look at these awesome pictures after your return home from your adventure.
I leave you this week with another picture from the Snake Trail path and of course a food pic – no blog would be complete without some type of food porn. I hope you enjoyed today. Join me next week for another edition of Journey to Israel.
