National Popcorn Day

19 Jan

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel here –

“Keeping my paws on the nuts of the world!”

.

Today, January 19th, is a great day.  It is National Popcorn Day.  This is a wonderful day that we can all enjoy and nip our teeth into – literally.  I know my kind loves corn and I know that little piglet in the Hotel Thompson loves the popped corn.  Some people believe that the origin of this day is somehow connected to the Super Bowl.  I guess it kind of makes sense since they’re all kinds of bowl games on right now.  I know Bacon’s daddy is in football heaven.

Let me tell you story about Bacon and his love of popcorn.  That little oinker can be all the way in his bedroom playing around and watching his television.  But the moment that he hears the corn kernels hitting the pan in the kitchen, he totally loses it and runs through the hallways skidding into the kitchen.  He will sit on the floor in the middle of the kitchen and watch his mommy as she pops the corn over the stove – you know old fashioned like.  When it starts to pop-pop-pop, he always walks over and hits his mom in the ankles with his snout wanting some.  He knows he’s going to get some but he doesn’t have a lot of patience that little guy.  And then when he does get some, he sounds like a little chomping machine.  He’s a hoot.

Enjoy the day my friends.  I’ll be back soon!

Popcorn is one of my favorite foods. I pop mine in coconut oil for optimum health.

My colleague made some micro-wave pop corn today. It smelled cinematic on our office for hours.

I am sure your traditionally made pop-corn is even better! I only like the smell. I am not such a fan of the taste.

Oh no. Mom fixes it so special for me – no salt straight up and hot. I loves it. Mom then fixes some for her and dad. It does smell delicious. One day though at mom’s work, a co-worker microwaved a bag and BURNT it. OMP – the smell was horrid. It actually caught the microwave on fire. XOXO – Bacon

Hm,. a coworker in an office should be able to read the instruction on a bag of microwave popcorn …

I know – I know. They didn’t use the ‘popcorn’ button and just put it on for like 3-4 minutes on high. It was definitely a fun time held by all until the smell left the building. XOXO – Bacon

There is a popcorn button? I don’t own a microwave myself – had one, when that broke I never replaced it. The only thing I used it for was to warm milk.

Snorts – yep. There is usually a ‘popcorn’ button on most microwaves these days. Let’s just say that the person that blew this one up at work wasn’t the smartest cookie in the package – snorts with piggy laughter. XOXO – Bacon

Buttered popcorn is the one smell no one can resist. I kind of think you might be like me, Bacon, and find most food smells hard to resist, BOL!

Oh no. Popcorn is good. But sometimes mommy doesn’t want to make it either. I wish she would make some more soon – I loves the stuff! Of course, no salt on mine okay. XOXO – Bacon

Snorts! Of course not. Mom makes a ton in a big huge pot on the stove – like old times. She puts some for me in my bucket to eat on all week – no salt on mine. Then she puts some in a big bucket for her and dad to munch on throughout the week. That way we always have a snackable. Cool huh? My mom knows the way to my piggy heart. XOXO – Bacon
