Bacon’s Show and Tell

30 Oct

Thank you so very much my friends for making Bacon’s Show and Tell a great place to be every month.  This month for Bacon’s Show and Tell we are going to highlight Halloween.  What did you do for Halloween as a child?  Did you trick or treat door to door, go to a Halloween festival or did you stay at home?  This month let’s share what we did and show pictures – costumes, movies, whatever your favorite Halloween captured.

BOO!  Mom never celebrated Halloween per say when she was growing up.  She says that she went out one time during her childhood – it was cold and wet and she hated.  And what did she dress up as that one time?  You won’t believe it – a CLOWN!  Can you believe that?

After that ill fated time trick or treating door to door, her parents got smart.  Why go door to door and worry about your child when you can keep them home to have fun.  So from then on, mom and siblings told their parents what kind of candy they wanted and their parents bought it for them so they could have it on Halloween.  As their dad passed out candy to the regular trick or treaters, mom and her siblings had pizza, ate candy and watched scary movies on television.  Those are some of her best memories – watching the likes of Vincent Price, Lon Chaney, Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi just to name a few.  I even found this picture of mom during her teenage years.

guess what? that’s much better when the treats come to you instead that you have to hunt them…. and guess what what? my mom had EGG-sactly the same hairstyle like your momma that time. She is happy now, that she really had a hairstyle what was up to datewhen it was totally out on the other side of the big bathtub :o)

Snorts! Later in life, mom was on vacation with family. Mom had a little too much tequila and thought her bangs needed to be ‘trimmed’…. she trimmed them and trust me – there were no bangs afterwards – snorts with piggy laughter. XOXO – Bacon

It’s a fun holiday with stories but not something that our family really celebrated at all here. We like to watch the ghost stories on television that night, have snacks and have fun together where it’s safe. XOXO – Bacon

I never went out for Halloween after I turned 13. Why bother when I had four little sisters who could do all of my trick or treating for me! 😉

I went door to door, bundled up to keep warm, wearing a sweaty false-face mask that was hard to see out of. I would have rather stayed home–but it was more fun to get all that candy.

I think your Mom had the best Halloweens, not having to go out in the cold night air. Her dad was very smart man. 🙂

Sorry my friends but mom can’t remember what she used to do at Halloween. She thinks her mom took her out door to door but she doesn’t remember. She’s fun isn’t she…she says there are parts she remembers but is unsure of a complete story.

    Maybe next show and tell.
