Today is the day my friends – don’t forget about Daylight Savings Time. Tonight before bedtime, move your clocks *back* an hour. Good thing is we get an extra hour of sleep. Bad thing is we have to get used to the time adjustment all over again – snorts. This also means mommy will leave in the dark for the worky place and come home in the dark from the worky place. That kind of sucks for her – she’ll never get to see this thing called the sun. Snorts!
Hope you are having a fantastic weekend so far. It’s rained all week and today has been sporadic here/there. Tomorrow more rain – someone wake me when it’s Spring okay 🙂
Many years ago, mom/dad went to their favorite place to vacation – Tybee Island. It was early October, the weather was perfect. They went to some of their favorite shops just looking. That’s when mom spotted this duo and just *had* to have them for the Hotel Thompson. I mean – look at them – who could resist, right? And I do have to admit that they are the perfect addition here – especially this time of the year.
I hope that you have had a wonderful time here this month on my blog – and that you haven’t been frightened too much. Today I leave you on my last day of 31 Days of Spook with Salt and Pepper for your entertainment. Have a Spooky Halloween tonight my friends… watch out for ghosts. PIGABOO!
Oh my friends. This tale today is scary unbelievable. It makes you want to do a double take… and possibly a triple take. But, I’m getting ahead of myself. You see working on my 31 Days of Spook takes month of advance preparation. All year long, I’m looking for just the right stories to bring to you. Stories of the macabre, ghosts, strange tales, paranormal and things that go bump in the night. But this story, it caught my attention and I’ve been waiting for some time to share it.
This is something that is strange. It takes place in Chihuahua, Mexico. There’s a well known bridal shop in the town called La Popular. In the bridal shop, there is a mannequin nicknamed La Pascualita that is wearing a wedding dress in the store window. Sounds all innocent enough, right? Well here’s the twist. Some say that La Pascualita might be real. Do I have your interest piqued now?
You see, for the past 75 years this bridal shop has had rumors flying around about La Pascualita. Some believe that this mannequin is actually a perfectly preserved corpse!
La Pascualita was placed in the window on March 25, 1930. Locals saw it and knew that something just wasn’t right about it. Look at the pictures to the left. Do you know notice anything odd?
According to the legend, La Popular’s owner Pascuala Esparza had a daughter. His daughter tragically passed away on her wedding day from the bite of a black widow spider. Some believe that Esparza had his daughter embalmed and that she is now the famous La Pascualita in the shop window. Of course Esparza has denied such rumors.
Funny thing though – if La Pascualita isn’t Esparza’s daughter why all the secrecy. What secrecy you ask? Well, of all of the employees of the shop there are only two that are allowed to change her clothing and that is only behind a closed door.
Other employees of the shop so that La Pascualita’s hands are very realistic and some say you can even see wrinkles and varicose veins on her legs. Other employees say they come into the shop in the early mornings only to see that La Pascualita has changed positions on her own. And then there are other employees that say La Pascualita ‘watches’ them during the day.
You be the judge. What do you think?

I saw a special on my television about this island. It’s called Poveglia Island. It was so spooky, foggy at night and mysterious. Would you stay on the island overnight?
Barks my friends! Another week gone and tomorrow is the BIG day – HALLOWEEN! We can’t wait. We are going to celebrate the way mom did when growing up. We are all going to bundle up in the big bed with popcorn and watch scary movies. I think we are all excited just to be together. I’m sure we will all be snoring before the first show ends – barks!
But I did dress up in my costume. Our local pet store had a dress up party and I went last night. It was so much fun! I got to strut myself around in my Captain America outfit and be a Super Hero for a while. They had puppy treats and treat bags for anipals that I got to bring home. Score one for the little puppy huh? This is a picture that mom took of me in my outfit. If you look closely, I’m smiling and you can see my teeth. Dad says I’m Captain America but mom says with those two front teeth showing, I could be VAMPIRE Captain America – BARKS! Mom/dad say we have lots of errands to do this weekend. One of those errands they say I have to go with them. The way they said it, it didn’t sound good. I’m thinking this weekend might be the V.E.T. thing they keep spelling out around me. They don’t understand that us anipals know these key important words that they like to spell. I’m hoping I’m wrong about the V.E.T. but the way daddy keeps saying it with a grin in his voice, I don’t think so. I’ll keep you posted.
And my friends, I have a special treat for you today. All of us anipals and even the rock clan have been working on a project to help end 31 Days of Spook. We put together a little something and we hope that you enjoy it my friends.
Thank you so very much my friends for making Bacon’s Show and Tell a great place to be every month. This month for Bacon’s Show and Tell we are going to highlight Halloween. What did you do for Halloween as a child? Did you trick or treat door to door, go to a Halloween festival or did you stay at home? This month let’s share what we did and show pictures – costumes, movies, whatever your favorite Halloween captured.
BOO! Mom never celebrated Halloween per say when she was growing up. She says that she went out one time during her childhood – it was cold and wet and she hated. And what did she dress up as that one time? You won’t believe it – a CLOWN! Can you believe that?
After that ill fated time trick or treating door to door, her parents got smart. Why go door to door and worry about your child when you can keep them home to have fun. So from then on, mom and siblings told their parents what kind of candy they wanted and their parents bought it for them so they could have it on Halloween. As their dad passed out candy to the regular trick or treaters, mom and her siblings had pizza, ate candy and watched scary movies on television. Those are some of her best memories – watching the likes of Vincent Price, Lon Chaney, Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi just to name a few. I even found this picture of mom during her teenage years.
If anyone cane take in a slightly worn out daddy that does housework and a humorous pig, we may need it. We both kind of decorated the bathroom today while mom was at work. We might be in slight trouble… perhaps even the doghouse if you will when mom sees this in the powder room. Let’s just hope that she doesn’t have to really, REALLY go when she gets home – snorts with piggy laughter.
Then again, maybe she won’t be so mad when she sees the pumpkin we made? Who knows – you think?
So I get up this morning and mom is going to fix me breakfast which is awesome because it’s not even the weekend. I mean I get Cheerios during the week. On the weekends, mom fixes me eggs or pancakes – a pig’s favorite. So there she is cooking this morning and then all of sudden she stops singing and gets all quiet. She gets my piggy plate, looks at me, looks down, looks at me and then looks down. Come on mom – give this pig his breakfast.
Then when she did I was like not hungry anymore. THUD piggy down – You want my eggs?
