Okay Friends – Here We Go!
My sweet friends at Nikitaland have started this monthly issue of Pay It Forward. We asked for you to keep this in mind all month and to share things here today on what you have been able to do. Paying it forward is not for bragging purposes – it’s an attempt to show how many different things we can do to pay it forward – lots of them don’t even include money. Gestures that we take for granted may be a God send to another person.
.
This month mom challenged you to pick one day and give every person you meet some type of compliment. Whether it be they look terrific, they did a great job or they are a great friend. Tell everyone something for one entire day. Did YOU accept this personal challenge?
This month seemed like the longest month, didn’t it? Did you accept my challenge this month? To give out compliments to everyone you met for an entire day?
I picked to do it on a Monday. Why Monday? Because doesn’t everyone kind of hate Monday because it creeps in after the weekend and most of us have to go back to work. I had made a basket full of treats to hand out as well 🙂
I hit a drive thru on the way in to work and paid for the guy’s breakfast behind me. I asked the cashier to give him a card that talked about how much people really do care and for him to have a great day. Then, I told the cashier/person who gave me my breakfast to have an awesome day and complimented their smile. It’s usually the same lady that waits on me every morning at the drive thru at my local McDonalds. They are *always* cheerful. I gave them a small card with a Mounds candy bar. The card explained that THEY make a mounds of difference in my life every day.
Then at work, I spoke with our mailman who after giving me our mail I gave him a card with a pack of Reeses Pieces candies in it. On his card, I told him that he made the pieces fall together for me every morning by delivering our mail with a smile.
It was the little things like this that I continued on for the entire day. Some cards that I passed out just stressed how important that person was in my life and how they brightened my day. Other cards had different assorted candies in them for people that touched my life more every day. Overall, I think people were really touched over the kindness. And you know what? It made *me* feel better about me. Why? Because life isn’t all about us – it involves everyone that we pass and see. With a card, a piece of candy or a smile and simple gesture of holding a door or giving a hug. You *never* know when that person needs a little something that day.
It’s just like this blog. My friends, you think that I’m entertaining YOU and making you laugh with the antics of the Hotel Thompson. But you know what is really happening? YOU MY FRIENDS are making MY DAY with your friendship, your love and your unconditional support in my writing. For that, I say THANK YOU.
THANK YOU!!
So my friends. What did you do this month to bring a smile to someone’s face?
My buddy Nikitaland made up a good deeds sheet. You can get it here. You can print it, hang it on your fridge and just jot some things down that you do during the month. That way at our next meet up, you can share what you have done to PAY IT FORWARD.
AND if you are interested in getting some Pay it Forward bracelets, check out Nikitaland’s post here for ordering information. Believe me friends – WE CAN ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Next meet up will be September 2, 2015 – mark your calendars!
