Grow a Boyfriend

Oh dear piggy heavens above.  This is way too funny.  I couldn’t resist sharing with everyone.  Anyone need a boyfriend?  Snorts and rolls with piggy laughter.

Watch Out Ax Body Spray

My mom and dad have got to quit going out and shopping.  Earlier today, they came home laughing.  Why you ask?  They showed me this picture – Bacon Body Spray.  ALL I have to say is, “What the piggy are people thinking?”

Bacon Body Spray – really?  No mom and dad didn’t buy this product.  I kind of wished they had though.  Exactly what does Bacon Body Spray smell like?  I don’t smell.  Really I don’t.  I’m very clean.  So how would people really know what Bacon Body Spray should smell like?  Can you tell me that my friends?

Has someone ever made a spray out of you?

Paw Time with Houdini

Barks!  Hello my friends to another great week of Paw Time with Houdini.  Summer is slowly sneaking in on us here at the Hotel Thompson.  I’m kind of looking forward to Summer.  I know Bacon is not because of the heat.  But I have reasons for Summer.  This Summer means I become a big boy.  That’s right.  You heard it right.  I become a big boy of ONE.  Nice huh?  I will no longer be a mere puppy.  I will be a grown up doggy.

This week I also got to do something that I absolutely LOVE.  I went to the worky place with mommy – told you fun times.  You see, I wasn’t feeling too well one morning.  Mommy thought it would be best if I went with her so she could watch me.

I gotta tell you.  That’s a fun place to go to hang out for the day.  You can see in this picture that I was trying to do some yoga to get the icky germs out of me.  This is my upward pooch pose.  I was having so much fun with it.  For some reason every time I did it, mom got all aaww and gave me kisses.

Later after I got tired, I crawled up on mom’s desk and went to sleep.  Don’t worry.  I didn’t keep her from working.  I tried to help her.  I got to stay here for the longest time.  I just slept and watched mommy work.  There’s lots of neat flashy things that go across her computer screen.  And don’t forget the sounds – they are awesome.

But do you know what was the best?  All of mom’s co-workers stopped by the office to chat with me.  Some of them even played with me.  Heck by the time I got home, I was kind more tired than usual.  It’s hard looking this cute and playing so hard.

It was really cool to spend time with mommy this date.  I look forward to it again. Maybe next time I won’t feel so under the weather

Well that’s all for me my friends – yawns – I hope you had a wonderful week as well.  Happy weekend!

Bacon’s Show and Tell

This month we are discussing that one item that you received as a gift that you absolutely HATED.  I mean despised. I mean you wanted to toss your cookies because it was that awful.  Oh my friends – this is going to be a great one that I’m going to let my mom do.  Yes, it’s that good.  Are you ready?  Here we go – tighten your seat belt it’s going to be a bumpy ride – snorts

This happened a long time ago… really long time ago.  Mom and dad were still dating at the time.  Dad thought he would do something very sweet for mom and wanted to buy her a leather jacket.  Awesome huh?  So dad went out and bought mom a leather jacket.  He brought it to her and he was so excited about it. He was so proud of what he had done.  Something so touching – who wouldn’t want a leather jacket.

Mom opened the box and peaked into the box.  That’s when things changed. Mom was excited about getting a leather jacket out of the blue.  She was not so excited about the color.  Daddy had gotten mom a PURPLE leather jacket.  Purple.  There’s nothing wrong with the color purple.  Mom loves that color.  But when she put on the purple leather jacket and looked into the mirror – oh my piggy heavens.  She looked like BARNEY!  Do you remember Barney?  I love you – You love me Barney.  Shakes piggy head.

You can imagine that conversation between mom and dad right there over the purple leather jacket.  Oh, and mom politely declined its acceptance and explained to daddy why.  Of course he understood there and didn’t think about Barney.  He said mom was beautiful in it – no one would ever mistake her for a singing dinosaur.  But, just in case you know mommy still said no.

The BIG Announcement

It has been so totally busy here lately at the Hotel Thompson.  We had the demolition and renovation.  We had the cleaning and cleaning and more cleaning from all of that.  We had new furniture and everything has been out of place – and we are *still* putting things back together.  Mommy really pushed herself too much during all of this time.  And THEN Bashful came home from his visit with Fozzie in Australia.  That’s when all hell broke loose.  Yep I said hell.  HELL broke loose here at the Hotel Thompson.  You don’t believe me do you?  Okay I’ll tell you.

Do you remember the first time Bashful went to Australia to spend some time with Fozzie and her anipals way back in December 2013?  You can read about some of that trip here.  I’m talking specifically about that trip when he made a movie called Rockodile Dundee co-starring Bimby.  Let’s just say that we thought some things got out of control with that bimbo – I mean co-star Bimby.

Well upon Bashful’s return trip to Australia in December 2014, he had some problems to take care of in the deepest forms.  You see, Bimby was pregnant after the making of the Rockodile Dundee movie.  Shocker huh?  Well she carried the baby for nine months and when Bashful returned to Australia, she said he was the rock daddy.  Now you can imagine Bashful’s shock from that. BUT, can you imagine the shock of Fozzie calling me (Bashful’s daddy) and explaining (A) Bashful was now a father and (B) I was now a grandfather?!  Oh dear piggy heavens – I can tell you that was one interesting phone call to say the least.

20140112-003228.jpgNot only was Bashful a father but Bimby was in trouble.  Bimby had started hitting the bottle – hard.  And she was letting herself go not taking care of the baby.  So what to do huh?  First things first.

Bimby went into rehab.  There was long conversations about what to do and the biggest thing was to put the baby first.  Of course a rock DNA was conducted just to make sure that Bashful was the father.  The results came back and they verified 99.9% that Bashful was the father.  Then Bashful and Bimby had a long talk about the welfare of the baby.  The baby was 3 months old and Bimby decided that she didn’t want to be a mother – she was to young to settle down.  And putting the best interest of the baby first, paperwork was drawn up by the attorney’s and Bashful now has custody of his son.

So everyone here at the Hotel Thompson had to get everything ready for a new baby that would be soon arriving.  The nursery had to be set up, a pediarocktrician had to be lined up and of course everyone here had to be told what happened.  All of the rock clan were excited to have a new baby.  And I admit it.  I was rather excited to be a grandfather and to see my grandchild.  What would he look like?  What was his name?  Would he resemble us?  A lot of things were going through our minds.

Then the little tyke arrived here at the Hotel Thompson.  Oh my piggy heavens!  It was love at first sight with all of us.  The ooh’s and aaawws.  WOW!  So without further ado, let me introduce you to Chip.  Look at him!  How could we ever doubt his DNA?   He is quite the chip off the old block – you think?

What Could it Possibly Be?

Heads up my friends.  Tomorrow I will be announcing the surprise on my blog of what has been keeping me busy lately.  Something so exciting.  So thrilling.  So wonderful.  Something you just can’t imagine.  Something that has shocked all of us here at the Hotel Thompson.

Be here for the surprise reveal tomorrow morning.  I’m sitting on pins and needles with anticipation of what you will think.  Squeals!  Is it morning yet?

Pay it Forward – REMINDER

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

Paying it forward is is something that we want to start in the new year of 2015. You know the old saying of, “Do onto others as you want them to do onto you?”  Well, let’s put it in action in 2015.  Every month on the first Wednesday of the month, we are hosting Pay it Forward with my friends from Nikitaland.

Paying it forward is simple.  You do something for someone out of the blue, not asking for anything in return just because you can.  It’s little things that count. Karma comes around for all of us.

Here are a few examples:

Pay for the person behind you at a drive thru – could be as simple as a cup of coffee or breakfast.

Help someone take their groceries to their car at the grocery store.

Give extra as a tip to your waiter/waitress.

Visit a elderly neighbor and spend some time with them.  Read to them or bring them lunch.  Listen to them as they talk.

Pay for the person behind you at a toll booth.

Put money in a parking space for someone whose time is getting close to expiring.

Make a donation.

Cook lunch or dinner for a neighbor in need.

Offer to babysit for free to a couple who needs a night out.

See, it’s the little things that count that make the most.  Just being there for someone to see their smile can bring great karma your way.  So in the new year of 2015 – let’s Pay it Forward.

You have an entire month to Pay it Forward.  Do little things.  We will meet back here on my blog on June 3, 2015 to post about what we have done and how we have touched someones life in 2015.  I hope this inspires you my friends ❤

Shopping Around the World

This month items to price were:

FIVE Ingredient Salads.  There you go.  Cold salads, pasta salads, seafood salads, chicken salads, hot salads – any salad of your choosing – five ingredients.  List the ingredients, prices and how you make your five ingredient salad.  We have enjoyed seeing everyone’s homemade dish over the past couple of months.  IF you can attach a picture to your FIVE Ingredient Salad that would be awesome!

This was a challenge.  I like a lot in my salad – variety keeps me interested in eating the things *I should*.  It’s always an endless battle.  And I’m really trying to fix salads more often these days.  Me and the hub unit have come across the perfect FIVE ingredient salad for us which consists of the following:

(1) A bag of mixed lettuce ($3.00 a bag); (2) A 1/2 pound of ham ($6.00 sliced at the deli); (3) Shredded cheese ($2.50 for the block); (4) pecans ($8.00 a bag); (5) Thousand Island dressing ($2.49 bottle).

We go for the mixed bag of mixed lettuce because it has everything in it – but it’s one item, right?  Between me and the hub, the one bag can last two nights.  So for this meal it cost $1.50 for the salad mix.

We like to add a little meat to the salad for a chef salad.  We get the ham from the deli and ask them to shave it thin.  We get 1/2 pound and we can eat on this all week – it doesn’t take much to put in the salad – just some for taste.  So I’m estimating for the salad portion for the both of us $2.00.

We buy the blocked cheese when it is on sale and I shred it myself.  One block can do salads all week so for the both of us on cheese $0.50.

Now pecans are expensive around here – and we are in the south!  I like to buy a big bag of them at $8.00 – they freeze very well.  I will take some out, chopped them and toast them in the oven.  Then I put them on our salad for crunch.  Kind of like having croutons but way better.  The one bag lasts us for about 2 weeks so averaging it out it costs about $1.00 for the both of us.

Then the dressing – you have to have dressing and we both love Thousand Island.  The one bottle lasts us all week – it’s a small bottle 😦  That averages out to $0.50 for the both of us.

So what is the bottom line for this salad for the both of us together?  $5.50 for dinner.  And we change it up from time to time.  Salads are so versatile and we love them.  What about you?
