Renovation What?!

02 Apr

Yep, you guessed it from yesterday April’s Fool’s Day blog posting.  The Hotel Thompson is now under construction.  Day 2 and I’m ready to move in with any of you for the duration.  Anyone at all.  I don’t require much… really I don’t.

You see, this entire renovation has snowballed into what dad’s calls a cluster.  You don’t understand cluster?  Let me explain it to you the way mom explained it to him.  Go ahead and get settled in – I’ll wait.  Are you ready?

Okay mom and dad were discussing buying new furniture this year.  Apparently what they have now came over with Noah on the ark.  Rolls piggy eyes.  It really didn’t but that’s how mom explained it.  Dad said fine.  We will get new furniture this year.  And he was fine with that because even *he* said we needed new stuff.  This is where it snowballed, went down a hill, around a curve and became a cluster.

Then mom said:

“Well, if we are going to get rid of our current furniture, why don’t we go ahead and get rid of the china cabinet, hutch and kitchen table that I hate so much as well.  And since all of that will be gone and the rooms would basically be empty, why don’t we go ahead and look at that new floor we wanted for the front room because you know this carpet is shot.  And hey, if we are going to do new flooring in the front room, why don’t we look at the kitchen and hallway too – that way it can all match and flow.  And oh my goodness – if the room is empty, we can paint a couple of walls to give it some color in here.  And then you know what honey, we can shop for the new furniture and accessories.”

I saw daddy writing something down the entire time he was listening to mom.  He called me over and gave me this piece of paper.  Snorts and rolls with piggy laughter.  But he’s a good man… I think.  He ended up saying the worse words ever invented for a man to say to a woman…. “Whatever you want honey.”  He then handed over the check book.  My friends, I really feel sorry for my dad.

Oh, and did I tell you the best part my friends.  Mom wants ALL of this done by April 17th, 2015.  Squeals and rolls – yeah okay.  Don’t worry, I’ll be taking pictures of before, during and after to share.  Right now, I would describe it as his/hers and ours in the making.  Wish me luck!

This is how it always works. We are afraid to buy a new tablecloth because you know then you might as well look at the table and chairs and paint a matching wall color…..

Exactly! Well daddy is going with it since nothing has been done here in a LONG time – way before he and mom got married so it’s time. I’ll keep you posted. XOXO – Bacon

brother that’s the reason why it was Eva’s fault that they kicked them both out of garden eden. a guy is nice and says yes, we could change that towel holder… and at the end the bathroom is a battlefield and it ends with a new roof top and while we are on it we could paint the house… uhoh! and the best is all things should be finished within 5 minutes. my mom said she will sort out the wardrobe, my dad said whatever and she started.. butt instead to remove some trash to get more room , my dad has to make that wardrobe bigger now that she has more room for more trash there…. that’s far away from any logic…

Shakes piggy head. I feel you brother. What’s up with these women humans. They are strange beyond belief in their thinking on money. I made sure I took plenty of pictures last night before the bomb goes off technically this weekend. This weekend mom is bringing out her major arm strength to do the closet of the unknown in the hallway. This will be interesting for sure. Heck, I’m thinking it might take TWO weeks just to do that closet. XOXO – Bacon

Remodeling is F-U-N, especially when you have someone else’s checkbook! LOL Good luck on the remodel and we can’t wait to see the before, during, and after photographs!

Thank you my friend. Trust me – it is WAY overtime for it here at the Hotel Thompson. Mom is wanting to make it relaxing-home theater-pop your feet up-and never leave home relaxation. We shall see if she gets all of that in two weeks. XOXO – Bacon

Exactly! That’s the way you should do it. One thing at a time. Unfortunately mom/dad haven’t done anything year in nearly 16 years. It’s way overtime to purge, de-clutter and start fresh. I just hope I make it through the next two weeks. XOXO – Bacon

While reason I gave in is my poor matress is dead. It is sqaushed flat foam brick. I don’t even have dresser in my room but I am on ssi do to be young disabled woman so limited income if I could afford it all in one go I would. I can’t. However no painting walls or carpet redo’s anytime soon but do have lots of cleaning to do this spring. Next is dresser cause I need to face facts I need a dresser. But I can’t say when I am getting it ad idk yet as haven’t found one I felt I really liked for reasonable price.

Nods piggy head. Completely understandable. It takes time to do these things. It took my mom/dad 16 years to do this major overhaul. XOXO – Bacon

So exciting! It’ll be like a new house. When the painters came to my house, Mom and I went to stay at a pet friendly hotel nearby so we didn’t have to smell paint or be in the way. It was fun.

    Love and licks,

Paint will be here next weekend. Mom is like a machine with her schedule of things to do every day! I’m afraid for her to see me too much – she might just put *ME* to work. Snorts. XOXO – Bacon

I think I might if this continues more than the 2 weeks. I’m hiding in my bedroom a LOT and I’m letting the other anipals in with me. Talk about noise – OMP! XOXO – Bacon

Hmmmm you do know renovation dates are purely a myth – things never get finished when they are supposed too.

Snorts. For moms sake, I hope this date works out for her. She’s working like you wouldn’t believe moving mountains here purging and tackling old carpet. Trust me. I’ll keep you posted on what’s going on. I may need a place to run away. XOXO – Bacon

I live the simple life here at The Nest. Most of my furniture was given to me by others trying to get rid of it… 100% free! And it will only be thrown out once I can no longer use it. You’re free to carve out a space on my couch I picked up for nothing from Back Alley Liquidators if you need to get away from it all for a few weeks!

Thanks buddy. I may have to take you up on that offer. It’s all out of shape here right now in my crib. Mom/dad did the same as you for the past 16 years. They took what people were getting rid of and it’s worked. Now though mom has gotten a wild hair up her butt (so says daddy – snorts) and wants a total redo. I really hope I make it through this. XOXO – Bacon

I was lucky that I made houses for Alice and she kept them quite livable. If she hadn`t been so possessive with her space I would gladly have shared 🙂

Nope. It’s just the three weeks date that mom gave the contractor as to when she wanted everything completed. No more than three weeks or she would go stir crazy. Snorts – I think that ship has done passed. XOXO – Bacon
