Bacon’s Show and Tell

21 Nov

We are back for the next Bacon’s Show and Tell my friends!

For Bacon’s Show and Tell for November we are focusing on another toy from your childhood.  Something that was one of your favorites that you just absolutely loved.  Share a picture and a story about it.  I’m going to let my mom post about this today – take it away mom.

“Thanks Bacon my boy.  One of my favorite toys growing up was something that was fun, exciting and full of exercise.  We had a pretty big back yard growing up, full of trees and green grass.  One year for Christmas, me and one of my brothers got bicycles.  The all American toy of adventure.  I must have been around eight and up until that point I had never been on one.  Christmas afternoon we convinced our parents to let us go into the backyard to ride them.  Of course, it was winter time but winter time in Georgia is not that bad – most of the time.  This day, it was cold but not uncomfortable.

So out we went.  I imagined I would jump on my chariot of freedom and ride around like there was no tomorrow – or at least that was the plan.  I jumped on, pedaled at full force and went down a little indention in the back yard.  That’s when it hit me full force.  How the heck do you stop this thing?!  I started screaming about the time I ran straight into a tree at full force.  What the heck.  This thing was suppose to be fun – nothing was ever said about crashing.  So that’s when I was told about breaks and how to stop.  I stood up, shook myself off like the tomboy I was, jumped on and my adventure started all over again… this time with the knowledge of breaks 🙂 “

YES! to get a bicycle means unlimited freedom! Brother, I guessed it. THEY are related! Santa brought a bike to my mom once too. Butt sadly they lived in Bavaria where they had tons of snow… my poor grampy had to run next to the bike on a glassy ground , while holding the untalented biker-mom…. it ended in a disaster…. and my poor grandparents had to buy a new bike as soon as the stores were open after the howl-i-days….

I will have to link you all to picture of them as I don’t see how to show actual picture here.

It is Mooseltoe and Holly. I got Mooseltoealong with basketball hoop for my 3rd Christmas at 2 yrs old my first Christmas I was 1 month old. Got Mooseltoe from grandma and grandpa. The next yr I got Holly from them which I flipped for as loved Mooseltoe and was hoping for Holly and after nightmares and weirdness from watching the animated grinch who stoled Christmas and other weird things that yr. Holly felt like greatest gift ever. From that day on everyday I was at home they where with me everywhere in the house well till I was almost 5 and jealous kitty of incomimg sisters though I only ended up with one peed on they where uncleanable we washed them like 10 times in sink and 10 times in washing machine and still smelled of cat pee. I have the memories and thankfully was able to find the pictures thanks to few ppl selling them on ebay. They are to expensive to buy again but I really would love to snuggle with them again.

It was so funny because I was so small for my age back then and they where huge stuffed animals so was so funny to see me dragging both of them. They where to big for me to carry even one in my arms at a time.

Bacon ask your purr siblings why the family cat pee’d on my stuff when jealous of incoming babies and let me know what MG and Hemi have to say.

I asked you to ask your cat siblings cause they would have true answer because humans can only sort of understand animals. I take it Hemi and Mouse girl aren’t telling. And something tells me ya sort of want these two old plush also just a hunch Bacon just a hunch. Mooseltoe is 24″ and vintage Holly,Mooseltoe’s girlfriend is 22″(stupid buildabear holly moose confusing things) and ya got to be carefully with toys like these of ppl selling fake ones as Mooseltoe and Holly are very specific and where pretty popular to 1990. And as far as I know they only made set # that was relatively small amount in their run I don’t think any where made after 91 till sometine in 2000’s when they tried but failed to bring Mooseltoe back.

I had an experience like that the first time I rode a bike with brakes on the handlebars after all of the bikes I had as a kid braked by pushing the pedals backwards. Never rode another bike unless I was sure I could brake with my feet…

That is so cool Auntie Sharon. Mom still rides too but not as often as she would like due to her hip pain. So much fun huh? I wonder if I could ride shotgun in a basket? Snorts. XOXO – Bacon

Seems you always learn the hard way the first time you ride a bike. I always rode my bike everywhere when I was a kid.
