My friend Fozzie and I have scheduled a group posting today of Shopping Around the World. We thought it would be interesting to see the differences between different countries all over.This month we are focusing on items that we *have* to have in our lives.
Items priced this month – Prices in Georgia USA:
- Water. We buy 24 packs of Nestle water when they are on sale for $3.00 – this is for 16.9 ounce bottles.
- Bath Soap. We are kind of picky here at the Hotel Thompson on our bath soap. Mommy ❤ the Lever brand – that’s almost all she ever buys. Every once in a while, our local grocery store will have packages of two bars on sale for $1.00! Mommy stocks up on it when they go on sale. It always smells so fresh!
- Deodorant. What is up with prices on deodorant?! Mommy and daddy – even though it’s made for a woman snorts – use Secret clear gel. This runs $4.99 a bottle – that’s almost like highway robbery just so you don’t stink… well that’s what mom says – snorts. Sometimes if mom is lucky, she can get a package of two for $7.99 and she sometimes has a coupon for $2.00 off making it $5.99 for two – which is a lot better than $4.99 for ONE. Thank goodness I don’t need this stuff – WOW!
- Laundry Detergent. We use Tide pods – dad ❤ this stuff. It’s easy for him since he does all the washing/drying. He can just throw a pod in and doesn’t have to measure anything. We buy a tub at Sam’s Warehouse for $21.00 for 90 pods. That’s pretty good for us – it almost lasts us an entire year! Not bad at all my friends.
- Random Item. Andy Capp’s Hot Fries. Delicious – Yummy – Out of this World – Licks Piggy Lips This is one of mom’s weaknesses. If she goes to our local Sam’s Warehouse, she has to buy a box of these. There are 48 bags to a box and the box runs $9.00 – that’s lots of joy. Have you seen this? Great shopping list this month Bacon & Fozziemum! Once again our prices are pretty similar except for the laundry detergent, mom would love to buy the pods butt they are still quite new here in SA and so rather pricey.
Now about those Andy Capp chips – did you know that Andy Capp is a comic strip? Mom remembers reading it as a kid … translations MANY years ago *BOL*

OMP – I saw your list and was in awe by it. Winks – I also took some notes from it from our friend Corkscot. Hopefully, I can come up with a few things in that direction for next month’s Shopping Around the World list. We really appreciate your pawticipation in the monthly shopping – thanks so much my friends!
We haven’t had the pods here too long but they are dad’s favorites. It’s so much easier for him to throw a pod in than to try to measure with his vision limitations.
As far as Andy Capp – snorts – mommy used to read that cartoon strip. She ❤ it! And the bags of chips, they have a little cartoon strip on the back of them too. It's a riot for sure! XOXO – Bacon

Oh dear piggy heavens above. My mommy would absolutely have loved your daddy working on the plants making those Andy Capps. Mom loves those things and has since she was a small child. When mom and dad travel and stop at gas stations for fill-ups, she always looks to see if they have them. We saw your list – awesome!! Like fozziemum I am in Australia. Water is free, it is collected off my roof, stored in a tank and comes out of my tap. I make my own soap from goats milk, coconut oil, olive oil and essential oils. I make 12 to 15 bars for about $1 a bar. You’ll be glad to hear I buy deodorant! I buy dove roll on (the dry variety) for $4.00. I make my own washing powder from washing soda, borax and soap flakes. I grind up my own soap in my blender for the flakes and buy washing soda and borax, it costs about $12 and lasts three months.
All of the above makes me sound like a cheapskate but I prefer to work less, so less income, but more time to make some of my own stuff. Just different choices.
My random item is a 400gm Toblerone, on special at Target for $5, I tried to copy a picture, it wasn’t working for me but I found out that there is such a thing as a Toblerone cocktail so I’m going back to take another look.

As far as being a ‘cheapskate’ – NO WAY! Anytime one can be original and make their own stuff from the land is awesome in our books. We bow to you for that. Your soap sounds wonderful!! You go my friend!

It’s my favorite day of the month. I absolutely love seeing what everyone posts for Shopping Around the World. (My mommy/blogging assistant was a real slacker this month and didn’t do the required shopping. Bad Mommy; but I’ll light a fire under her for next month!) Aaaaw Bacon wiff all dat’s been goin’ on mommy hasn’t shopped at all this munff, so weez didn’t get any purrices. But mommy uses a purrscwiption deadowant and it costs $25.00. And mommy finks dat’s just cwazy, but oh well. And it’s not covewed by hers insuwance. Mommy chokes evewytime hers has to buy it. Weez can’t believ y’all only do 90 loads of laundwy a year. Even wiff jusst mommy washin’ fur hers she duz mowe laundwy than dat. MOL

Snorticles – I understand my sweet Dezi. Ya’ll have been under total duress these past couple of weeks with your house situation. Don’t you worry – we do this every month on different things. Hopefully things are going to change for the better for ya’ll very soon. We keep praying for that here at the Hotel Thompson – hogs and snout kisses. And yep, we are down to washing clothes maybe once a week now. That’s a big change. We were doing it several times a week but we reorganized and dad does ALL of the washing/folding now. Yep Bacon it’s been a cwazy year fur us, but multiplied exponentially in June and just kep gettin’ cwazier. But mommy has pulled da ads and is gunna help me make a posty here in a little bit. 🙂 Meez just luvs da shoppin’ postys and weez need sumfin’ to take ow mind off all dat’s goin’ on wound us. MOL Is gweat yous dad’s so organised. Mommy only duz laundwy once a week too, but dat once a week is a foo loads at a time. MOL Hers wuldn’t mind payin’ a little mowe fur a good detergent ifin it wuld last a year. 🙂

Oh, my sweet snort furriend, you always give us something to laugh. I don’t understand that deo-stuff either. I smell very delishiy-fishy, without using any kind of deo 😀
I think the prices are quite simular to ours this time, Bacon. Granny tried the laundry-pods once too, they were new and didn’t cost anything, just to try them out, but they’re to expensive Euro 6,99 for 16 pods, but we saw just now, that they’re on sale, 32 pods for the same price 🙂 We might not have noticed, when there wasn’t this shopping game.
