Happy International Bacon Day 2014

A day all to myself – International Bacon Day 2014!

A celebration of bacon – the pig – moi.  Okay so maybe *I* won’t celebrate today like some humans or other anipals but I will celebrate my day.  I mean how many people have a holiday for them – BACON DAY?  Snorts – bring on some fun my friends!

Today, I will be HAMbassador of this day.  This is me getting my “hams” massaged by mommy.  Noticed the smile on my face.  I’m as happy as a pig in mud.  No, wait a minute.  What does that saying mean?  “As happy as a pig in mud”.  Isn’t that dirty and messy AND outside?  Why would I be happy dirty and messy and outside?  That doesn’t make sense.  Let me rephrase that.  I’m as happy as a spoiled rotten miniature pot bellied pig that stays inside and has his own room and his own television and his own bed.  There – that’s more exact, you think?  Snorts.

On this day, I proclaim it’s me day.  I shall do nothing.  I shall be cuddled.  I shall be loved.  I shall be waited on hand and feet (literally).  I shall be fed grapes off of a stem.  I shall have control of the remote control.  I shall do no wrong.

uum… wait a minute.  I get all of that every day, not just today on my special day.  Let me rethink real quick.  Okay I got it.

I proclaim today International Bacon Day.  A day of no wrong.  Sammy – will you be my court jester?  Let’s celebrate this special day with all of our special friends here!  All hail Bacon Day!

My friend Bacon is running a contest to try and find a worthy home for one of his friends.  That friend just happens to be an elf… and at that, a possible conspirator with the infamous evil Elf on a Shelf of the Hotel Thompson, Don Juan!  As you can see, my shelf is already bursting with friends of my own.  But that never stops me from trying to pick up a new companion to watch me type all these crappy posts on my blog, so I am officially entering Bacon’s contest with this post!  Since I’m lazy I thought it would only be fair to let the current denizens of my shelf make their own case for wanting to welcome Don Juan’s friend into their lives… so I’ll let them take it away from here!

Happy LONG Weekend!

Oh friends – can you smell it?  Here comes a wonderful LONG weekend.  Full of fun, food, cuddles, food, love, food, backyard fun, food, television, sleep and more food – snorts. You get the drift – let’s all have some fun.  Kick your feet up, snuggle down on the couch, gather in the back yard to make S’mores and have F.U.N.

My Dad – The Superhero

WEEK No. 4

Okay friends – Christmas is coming up soon…for those counting 117 days – snorts.  Well my daddy, he is special – we all know that.  He loves his toys.  Literally, the man ❤ toys.  He and mom went to Wally World a couple of weeks back and the first place he goes is the toy section.  What can I say.  My father is a child at heart.  When they came back home, I found these pictures on mom’s iPhone.  OMP (Oh my pig) is all I can say… and maybe WOW.

My dad wants to be a superhero.  Now I know where I get those feelings from… I’ve always wanted to be Super Pig.  So I’m thinking that with Christmas coming up soon, I’m going to buy him a costume from me – his number one piggy son.  That’s where I need your help my friends.  In the next six weeks, I’m going to show you a picture that mommy took of daddy in the toy section.  At the end of six weeks, YOU can vote who my daddy needs to be and what I get him for Christmas.  Sounds fair to me, you?

Bacon’s Show and Tell

Today we are highlighting a toy that you really loved as a child and absolutely could not live without – that you had hours and hours of entertainment.  

Today, I want to focus on mommy – the bookworm.  Yep, the bookworm.  As a child, she always had a book in her hand and was reading.  I think that is why it is so important for her to read me a bedtime story at night to this day.

When she was younger, she absolutely loved the Nancy Drew series.  OMP (oh my pig!)  Can you believe that we still have the original book series and the original lunch box here at the Hotel Thompson?  They are in one of her boxes marked childhood.  I’ll even tell you a secret.  Sometimes, she brings them out and reads them to this day.  I’ll be honest with you.  She might have even read some to this little piggy.  Awesome huh?

Contest Time! – REMINDER

C O N T E S T     T I M E

Shake your tail feathers.  Do a little dance.  Have some fun – it’s contest time!  It’s so exciting.  We’ve been thinking about a contest here at the Hotel Thompson and I think we have a winner!

Every year at the Hotel Thompson the day after Thanksgiving our friend Don Juan comes out to play.  You remember Don Juan don’t you?  He’s our special little Elf on a Shelf that is *always* up to no good in so many different ways.   If you forgot about Don Juan, you can read about that little fellow here .  And we all have to remember when Don Juan filled in for me on a special Dear Bacon edition.  Oh dear piggy heavens.   Thank goodness he only sneaks out once a year.

I think we ALL remember this little surprise he left mommy last year under the Christmas tree.  Rolls piggy eyes.  He was bad.  I mean really bad.  He even liked to sneak in the bathroom and watch mommy take a shower.  He would throw skittles at her.  Unreal that fellow.

This year we thought we would share the fun.  That’s it.  Share the fun.  You can have your very own Evil Little Elf on a Shelf.  A friend of Don Juan has come to visit us here early.  He’s still boxed up because you know those elves don’t have secret powers until the day after Thanksgiving.

Here are the rules for the contest: 

1. Send me an email at baconthompson@gmail.com why you think you should adopt the boxed up Elf on the Shelf.  Explain what makes your family special and what you have to give.  Words, pictures or videos.  Whatever you think will give you the edge.

2. We are taking submissions until August 30th, 2014 at midnight.

3. We will randomly pick the top three submissions and post them for everyone to vote on in September.

4. The winner gets their very own boxed up Elf on the Shelf.  Now remember, this is a friend of our Don Juan.  Who knows if he is evil or good.  That’s between the winner and the boxed up Elf on the Shelf.

So put on your thinking hats my friends and get started with the emails.  It should be a blast!

 P.S.  Here’s a heads up sneak preview of the captured Elf.  He doesn’t look that evil – or does he?

 

Mom and Dad’s New Game – Answers

Hey my friends – today I’m giving you the answers from mom and dad’s new game that I posted about yesterday.  Remember, I showed you a picture to guess but did not give you any clues like how many letters or words the answer was.  My deviled Ham side came out to play – snorts. The answer are posted below – how many did you get right?  Remember these are the game answers and the game’s way of thinking.  Should be interesting.

Throwback Thursday

The picture to the left is my mommy.  The picture to the right is my dad. I think daddy still wears that hat and those cowboy boots – snorts.  Who would have thought that one day this little girl would grow up and meet this little boy.  And together, they would have this little pig as a child?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mom and Dad’s New Game

Those parents of mine.  Can you say crazy?  Can you say they act like teenagers or small children?  Rolls piggy eyes.  I guess that’s what really keeps them young at heart huh?  Mom found this new game for her iPhone.  It’s an ap called Guess the Emoji.  For those that are on mom’s Facebook page, I’m sure you are familiar with it.  Why do you ask?  Because when you get stuck on the game, you can ask your friends on Facebook for help.  And trust me, mom has done that – snorts.

The premise of the game – they show you pictures and you have to figure out what it means.  If you are right, you go to the next picture.  If not, you are ‘stuck’ until you figure it out.  It’s an awesome game.  What’s funny about it are the conversations between mom and dad.  See with dad’s limited vision, mom has to explain the pictures to him.  Which in itself is almost comical.  But on the other hoof, daddy is really good with the game.  Also with the game, they do show you how many words the answer is and how many letters.  They even give you the available letters at the bottom of the page.

For your entertainment, I thought I would share some of the pictures for you to guess.  And no, I’m not showing you how many letters or words the answer is… that’s my little piggy twist – evil huh?  Snorts.  I will post the answers tomorrow.  The first one is to show you an example.  Good luck my friends!
