Shopping Around the World

My friend Fozzie and I have scheduled a group posting today of Shopping Around the World.   We thought it would be interesting to see the differences between different countries all over. Here are our prices for the following from our area – Georgia USA:

  • Price of cable services for one month – what do you get for that price?  Right now we pay right around $40.00 a month for cable services.  This includes channels such as local, SyFy, Food Network, multiple Cartoon channels – yay me! – Investigative Discovery, Encore movie channels.  In all, I think there is 250 channels.  And we have On Demand where we can go back and watch shows.  I ❤ this!
  • A 12 ounce box (360 grams) of Cornflakes.  $3.29 – why are cereal prices so high?
  • A 15 ounce package (432 grams) of Oreos or other cream filled cookies.  $3.99 but sometimes we can get them on sale for 2 packages for $5.00
  • A 7 ounce bag (225 grams) of Lay’s potato chips.  Lay’s are expensive 😦  And trust me, I do ❤ me some Lays. 7 ounce bags run around $2.00 or more a bag.
  • 1 pound of real butter.  $4.00 :0
  • A 6 ounce can of peanuts.  Mom buys the Kroger brand for $2.19 a can

Thanks so much to my friends Reilly and Denny for suggesting these items this month.

If you have some items that you want to get on the list, email me at baconthompson@gmail.com

Hope you had fun!!

One of My New Favorite Commercials

OMP (Oh my pig!)  This has *got* to be one of my new favorite commercials.  I don’t care what it’s advertising.  This little girl in the back seat kills me and cracks me up every.single.time.  Have you seen this commercial?  I absolutely ❤ it!  Every time it comes on here at the Hotel Thompson, we all have to stop what we are doing and watch it.  It’s great!

Watch it and see what you think.  Do you like it too?

Dear Tigerlino and Roxy – SPECIAL ISSUE

Greetings my dear friends!  This week, we have another great and wonderful guest helping us out with my Dear Bacon issue.  This week, my sweet friends Tigerlino and Roxy are stepping in for me to do a special edition of Dear Tigerlino and Roxy.  Be sure to visit them at their blog and check them out – let them know what a great job they did – thanks Tigerlino and Roxy!!

20140618-085018-31818197.jpg
Dear Tigerlino and Roxy,
Uh-oh. This doesn’t appear to be how the humans lay in this contraption. Sparky is underneath checking out what happened. Secretly I think he’s laughing at me. I jumped on top of this trickery and my legs continued south. Can you help a dog out? Signed Stuck

Dear Stuck,
um… we’re not sure what that thing is for but you’re absolutely right… that’s probably not how you use it. But hey, look on the bright side. If you get tired now, you won’t have to lie down to take a nap… you can just hang in there. And yes, it does look as if Sparky is secretely laughing at ya! But maybe you can get even by asking him to join you on that thing??? He won’t be laughing anymore once he’s stuck there too!  As for helping you out… we’re not sure what advice to give you. Hmmm… are you, by any chance, ticklish? Maybe if Sparky tickles your paws, you’ll jump up so high that you’ll fly right out of your trap? On second thought, that’s probably not the best idea. You’d probably fall right back down on that thing and get stuck again. But don’t despair, buddy… we’re trying to figure something out, okay? So just hang on…xoxo Tigerlino & Roxy

Dear Tigerlino and Roxy,
Do you know what is more fun than rolling around in the mud? Of course it would be playing in a bundle of straw. I love hiding in the straw and then jumping out snorting to humans that pass my way. Some of them can jump pretty high. Have you ever done this? Signed Pop Goes the Piggy

Dear Pop Goes the Piggy,
We’ve never done this before but it sounds like a lot of fun! Do you think that works with dogs too? We’d love to give the neighbor’s dogs a fright. Do you think they can jump as high as the humans? Or even higher??? 😉  xoxo Tigerlino & Roxy

.

20140618-090440-32680709.jpg
Dear Tigerlino and Roxy,
Oh it’ll be fun he said. Just look over the edge at the crawly thing. You can’t possibly get hurt. Yep those were his last words before he pushed me over the edge like Humpty Dumpty. How can I get even. Can you help me out with that? Signed Too Close to the Edge

Dear Too Close to the Edge,
Why that little traitor! Let’s give him a taste of his own medicine. Why don’t you tell him that that crawly little thing was in fact a super yummy tuna treat and that you have found even more of them hidden in a mound?! And that you’d be happy to lend a helping *cough cough* pushing *cough cough* paw to explore the mound (housed by angry fire ants just waiting to take him on for disturbing their home…) How about that?! 😉  xoxo Roxy & Tigerlino

.

20140618-090807-32887983.jpg
Dear Tigerlino and Roxy,
Don’t you love my new shirt? You want one don’t you? Signed Bark Humor

Dear Bark Humor,
Oh My Gosh! Why are you not wearing any pants? Did the cat rip them apart? Or did you lose them in a poker game or something? But hey, don’t worry! If you smile big enough, no one will notice that you’re… um… nude… down there…  xoxo Roxy & Tigerlino

P.S. Where can we get one of those shirts???

.

20140618-091007-33007507.jpg
Dear Tigerlino and Roxy,
Meow. That should fix the humans for not giving me any snacks before they went to bed. Just wait until they go to potty now. Meow. Signed Payback

Dear Payback,
Yep, that’s purrfect… for a start. You could also shred the drapes, or the couch, or the carpet, or the wallpaper. And if the humans have a fit, tell them that you were just doing a little redecorating. Nothing wrong with that, right?  Oh, and you could also put a nice hairball on the human’s pillow…that’s pretty fun too! If you need more advice on how to get even with the humans, just let us know. Our „Get Even with the Humans Revenge List“ is endlessly long and getting longer as we speak…Have fun, sweetie! Meow!  xoxo Tigerlino & Roxy

Humans are Weird

That’s right.  I said it out loud.  Humans are weird.  Mine have *got* to be at the top of the list.  Rolls piggy eyes.  I think this sign, “Beware All Ye Who Enter” should be on our front door. It was a strange Sunday yesterday.  Mom and dad got up and piddled around the Hotel Thompson.  Then mom sat on her sofa and looked at dad across from her sitting on his sofa playing what of course – Angry Birds.  That’s when it started.  I wanted to know what was going on so I jumped on the sofa with mom.  It kind of went like this:

MOM:  “Whatcha doing?”

DAD:  “Nothing much.”

Oh poor daddy of mine – when will you ever learn NOT to say those words to mom – snorts

MOM:  “Good, we need to clean the bathroom today”.

DAD:  “I’m busy.”

MOM:  “No you’re not.  You just said you were doing nothing.”

Mom wins every battle this way – snorts.  Daddy mumbled something about when he found this “WE” fellow he was going to beat him up bad.  But he was a good man, he got up and followed mom down the hall.  You’re probably saying, “What’s the big deal?  It’s just cleaning the bathroom”.  That’s where you would be wrong – snorts.  Mom was wanting to CLEAN the entire bathroom – as in walls, tub, sink, floor, cabinets, changing shower curtain – the entire works.  And of course with mom’s arthritis, she can’t get in and grove like she once did.  That’s where daddy comes in – she needed his quote “Brute strength”.

They went in and shut the door.  They wouldn’t let any of us anipals inside with them.  We heard a lot of giggles.  A lot of laughter.  Something about WE was going to have to die from daddy.  Things got thrown in the hallway.  The laundry basket, trash, clothes – what *WERE* they doing in there?  They were in the bathroom for over an hour!

Then the door opened – WOW – you could hear the angels singing it was that sparkly.  I was in piggy awe.  And then mom did the thing she said she “deserved” after all of that – she took the smelliest bubble bath I’ve ever seen.

Do your parents do weird things like this?

One of “Those” Nights

Last night started off like it normally does.  Mom ran around the house getting everything ready for Monday – the start of another glorious week – rolls piggy eyes.  She told me to get ready for bed and I did.  Mom then came in and gave me a strawberry and told me a short bedtime story.  You know – the normal things for this little piggy.  After my story, she kissed me on the forehead, told me good night, she loved me and left my room.

I wasn’t all the way asleep yet though.  I tried to go to sleep.  I closed my eyes tight and dreamed about my sweet purr thing.  I dreamed about chasing sheep over fences.  I even tried to focus on my counting skills.  But nope – nothing.  Sleep just wouldn’t come.

So I did what all little piggies do.  I pulled up my Egyptian cotton sheet around me and let the silk rub against my piggy skin.  It was nice and cozy!  Then out of the blue – BAM – it hit me.  I had to tinkle.  Why do you do that nature?  Why when you get the most comfortable surroundedby your silk sheets do you hit us and we have to go tinkle?  Explain that.

So you get up, stumble over to your wee-wee pad and take a wizzle.  And yes for the first time I will show you a picture of me wizzing.  Why?  Because that mother of mine doesn’t know about BOUNDARIES.  That’s right mom.  Sometimes a pig needs PRIVACY.  Hint – hint.

But do notice my techniques.  Tail up in the back, legs stretched out.  I think it’s a great form and I would give myself a ten – snorts.  And notice the light in the picture.  I didn’t turn on the light.  This light is from a piggy nightlight that my cousin Sammy sent me a while back.  I ❤ that nightlight.  Thanks cousin!

So you take care of “When Nature Calls” and then you are in a pickle.  I mean, mommy already tucked me in and now she’s asleep.  I’ve done my business but I need some mommy loving.  I do what I do best.  I pitter patter over to my bedroom door and call for her by snorting and stomping.  This concerns her so she rushes to me.  I think I have her trained… you think?

So mommy came back in my room to tuck me back into bed.  But now I’m thirsty – go figure.  I am a kid at heart – snorts.  I convince her that I need a drink and just a little snack before bed… again.  We walk to that heavenly place that I like to call a kitchen and get some water and Animal Crackers.  See, mommy *thinks* she has me trained.  Don’t tell her it’s the other way around okay.

Then when go back to my bedroom where she tucks me back in to bed and wraps my Egyptian cotton sheet all around me like the original piggy in a blanket.   Aaaww – that feels good.

But not only does mom wrap me up and tuck me in, she talks to me and pets me until I go back to sleep – for good this time.  Can you say contented little man?  Yep, that would be me friends.  Contentment shows in this picture.  And believe it or not, this time Mother Nature didn’t interfere.

Mommy waited until I was fast asleep and could feel my tummy going up and down in a pattern before she left my room.  In fact, I don’t remember her leaving because I was asleep dreaming.  Dreaming about my magical backyard… my friends out in the yard – Rocky the Squirrel, my Unicorn and my Bigfoot.  We were all playing and chasing each other.  Nice dream.

So have you ever had difficulties like this in getting to sleep?

Happy Summer

Today is the first day of Summer.  It’s official – it’s time to play in the sun and water my friends.  Vacation is upon us.  A time to rest, relax and let go all of the worries in the world.  Revive our inner child.  Go on my friends.  Go outside and walk in the freshly cut grass – I might even attempt this today… of course with socks on – snorts.  Walk in a creek, get in the ocean or a pool.  And speaking of pools – I’ve gotta go now.  I’ve got to go call talk to that daddy of mine about a pool he should be getting this little oinker!

Have a great day my friends – Happy Summer!

Not Cool

Snorts – one of mom’s friends on Facebook tagged her in this picture last night (thanks Wes!).  I wanted to post this picture today to share.  To share with my friends here in a public visual request to that sweet daddy of mine who promised me I would get a pool this Summer for my magical backyard.  I wanted this public… to have all of you as my friends here as witnesses so that daddy can not say he was not told.

Dear Daddy,  Please take close note to this picture of this sweet little piggy in his “pool”.  This is not cool with me.  Although this little piggy looks happier than a bird with a worm, I would not be.  Call it me being spoiled if you want to but I find the need to have a pool big enough to put my rear end in all the way and to be able to stretch.  You know my entire body needs to be submerged – for medicinal purposes if you will.  So sweet daddy of mine, something bigger than a breadbox but
smaller than a semi-truck will do.  A happy ‘in between’ would be nice.  But keep in mind my adoring daddy of mine – I have a lot of friends for pool parties 🙂  Signed, Your Loving Adorable Semi-Spoiled Precious Pig Son – XOXO Bacon
