Okay I admit it. We watch a LOT of shows on the Investigative Discovery channel. I mean a *LOT*. I guess it intrigues mom in her line of work. We just can’t get enough of murder and mayhem and trying to figure out who did it before the end of the show.
But I have to admit that there is one situation that repeatedly happens in the shows we watch on this channel. One thing that is the common denominator that people do in real life. One thing that simply amazes and blows our minds here at the Hotel Thompson.
And maybe we are thinking way too hard or we are always seeing the possibility of something that could happen. Maybe it’s just us? With that in mind, I come to you my friends to ask this all knowing question.
In most of the shows we watch, the common factor is that people don’t lock their doors to their house. Really? In this time and day with all of the bad out there looking for a place to visit, you really would leave your house door unlocked at night… let alone during the day?
Maybe it’s just us here at the Hotel Thompson that are the Chicken Little’s of the world? We don’t just lock the doors here. We have deadbolts and an alarm system! Oh, and don’t forget Smith & Wesson who lives with us. And daddy, rolls piggy eyes, he has the sign up at the Hotel Thompson. He’s such a funny man.
So what say you? Do you keep your doors locked or unlocked?
06/26/2014 at 12:43 pm
Well now, if I had you flying about bacon I’m sure I’d feel perfectly safe with leaving my door unlocked lol!
06/26/2014 at 12:52 pm
Snorts – mommy does call me her little protect pig 🙂 I can be rented out for food – XOXO – Bacon
06/26/2014 at 12:56 pm

06/26/2014 at 2:05 pm
Wahoo! i shall be expecting then! will be watching the skies 😀
06/26/2014 at 12:45 pm
That’s what I will never understand. We lock our doors , our windows are alarmed and Edda the Beretta ( hope we will NEVER need it) lives in my crib to protect me and chicken-momma :o) I also wonder why people have the bad habit that they jump out of the bed immediately and look when they hear a noise in the house. My mom wouldn’t do that, specially without shoes( in case of a smashed window an epic fail) and whatever it is to grab the phone before you take a look is the better choice.
06/26/2014 at 12:55 pm
This is true. I watch a *lot* of crime shoes – hey just call me Sherlock Bacon. The number 1 thing humans do is leave the crib unlocked. I don’t get it. Shakes piggy head. As far as getting up in the middle of the night to look. If glass is heard breaking, mom/dad take the cell to the closet and call 911. If no glass but a noise, mom goes and looks – she’s very brave. Not this little oinker. But she says a smart thing on one hoof. Who knows your house set-up more than you? You know where furniture is and Mr. Breaking Bad doesn’t. Snorts – I feel sorry if they break in our house. My mom is pretty accurate with Smith and Wesson and a bat. XOXO – Bacon
06/26/2014 at 1:03 pm
My mo can’t manage that thingy, so Mr. Evil will be safe… but I feel sorry for those who are 5 yards next that guy :o( Therefore I’m glad I have a dad :o)
06/26/2014 at 3:18 pm
Snorts – I *know* what you mean! XOXO – Bacon
06/26/2014 at 12:48 pm
Hehehe well I wouldn’t want to break in to your House, then again we have My Mummy she can be quite scary when she gets angry the there’s Daddy and he can be scary too,and then there’s the casper and we don’t need to say to much about that then theres Daddy’s friends Mr winchester and Mr Browning and then theres Mummy’s friend Mrs Rolling Pin….hehehe Daddy said when mum gets together with Mrs Rolling Pin its time to run for your life unless theres pastry on the counter….hehehe but I think you should still approach them with caution even then,xx Speedy
06/26/2014 at 12:56 pm
See – there’s a plan in place – snorts. And Lord helps the fool that steps into the Hotel Thompson and doesn’t know that I live there. Can you imagine how that would play out – snorts. XOXO – Bacon
06/26/2014 at 12:52 pm

06/26/2014 at 1:22 pm
Well said Bacon!! OMCs we have deadbolts and window bolts and window break alert with our security system…mom would have gotten motion detector but since I often jump up past the no fly zone we could not get that. If mom is not in eye shot of the door when she is out it is locked.
thankfully the peeps have not been locked out yet ’cause I don’t have thumbs I can’t dial 911 or turn the door knob. MOL MOL MOL Madi your bfff
06/26/2014 at 3:20 pm
Snorts – that is so true – we need thumbs! I say that all of the time to mom. Typing with these hooves is off the chain sometimes. I’m up to 25 hpm (hooves per minute) but it’s hard! Be safe my friend – be safe! XOXO – Bacon

06/26/2014 at 1:34 pm
Same here – locked doors and deadbolts, security system and Mr and Mrs Rugers live here too…not to mention two fluffy dogs – one of which has the biggest deepest bark that make his sound like a rottweiler 🙂 It is funny – it took Mom forever to get use to it – back home in Australia she never locked anything !
06/26/2014 at 3:21 pm
I understand. Times are just not like they used to be – shakes piggy head in disgust. You should hear me ‘barking’. It cracks mommy up every single time – especially when I sneak up behind her and do it – snorts. Be safe my sweet friends! XOXO – Bacon
06/26/2014 at 1:44 pm
Hehehehe, that sign is too funny!! 😀 No one will dare to break into your house with that sign up at the Hotel Thompson! We lock EVERYTHING!! 🙂 xoxo Roxy & Tigerlino ❤
06/26/2014 at 3:21 pm
Awesome my friends! You can *never* have too much security – not at all! XOXO – Bacon
06/26/2014 at 3:43 pm
Love that sign sweet Bacon…bet that works very well at keeping those baddies away. We lockup and lock down everything here. Have an alarm system and two dogs. One of which would try to eat a baddie up alive if they tried to do harm to anyone at our place. I cannot imagine leaving doors unlocked now days. We watch that channel a lot too, we enjoy those crime shows. Hugs and snout kisses
06/26/2014 at 3:59 pm
Yes ma’am! Please be safe. After watching that show so much, it’s so hard for me to believe that people don’t lock their doors. It’s such a small safety precaution you know. XOXO – Bacon
06/26/2014 at 4:01 pm
Oscar is so territorial he would let no baddies on the path let alone by the door with his evil glare
06/26/2014 at 4:34 pm
Snorts – sounds like me 🙂 snort – oink. XOXO – Bacon

06/26/2014 at 6:21 pm
Lock! Plus Mazie and the two little alarmist known as the Puffs. I am even lucky enough to have those little stops on the windows that don’t allow them to be raised more that an inch unless released from the inside.
06/26/2014 at 7:31 pm
That is so fantastic. We have some of those windows too. They’re great. Of course you never know where I’m going to be in the house too. I can be fierce. Snort. XOXO – Bacon
06/26/2014 at 6:52 pm
Doors and windows Locked! plus our own smith and Wesson friends. Plus two doggies that guard. The neighbors are scared of Jasper! Mom said she feels pretty safe. Mom watches a TON of ID. Hehe Mommy’s roomies say she watches it too much. they ask her why. Mom said if she ever needed to get away with murder she would know how. haha sleep with one eye open my friends! 😛
06/26/2014 at 7:30 pm
Snorts. That’s like us here. We know all about what not to do in order not to get caught. Great shows for sure!! XOXO – Bacon
06/26/2014 at 8:07 pm
We lock our doors. My great friend is a professional locksmith He has made our house nice and secure plus anyone who got in would be disappointed as we don’t have a lot of stuff and then the menagerie would probably eat them all up! ES had a hilarious post which mentioned aussie locksmiths. (scroll down)
06/26/2014 at 9:51 pm
OMP. That was too funny!! Evil Squirrel is my kind of anipals. Snorts. XOXO – Bacon
06/26/2014 at 9:04 pm
yep…lock up….and SCOTTIES on guard duty. sad we have to be this way…I remember the days when the only time the door were locked was to keep us kids outside while mom cleaned the house!!! sigh…. and you know that didn’t work to well either…..’I have to go to the bathroom’ always won…
Stay sweet Bacon….
ps we enjoy the same tv programs!!!!! =-)
06/26/2014 at 9:45 pm
Yes we do. I love those whodunit shows. They are our favorites here! Be safe my friends. XOXO – Bacon
06/26/2014 at 11:54 pm
Locked and with good reason. Unfortunately this little timber town has the highest unemployment rate in the state and a lot of homeless live here looking for things to sell to buy what they need.
06/27/2014 at 9:01 am
Isn’t that awful!? We live in the burbs – not quite the city but not quite the country. There’s too many people roaming out there trying to find trouble to get into. Be safe my friend. XOXO – Bacon
06/27/2014 at 1:44 am
We’ve also pondered this question Bacon. Living in Johannesburg, South Africa crime is part of everyday life here. You will be pressed to find a house without a high wall or fence here. Added to that most homes have burglar bars on the windows and doors. At our house there isn’t a door or window without them and we never, never, never leave them unlocked. The only time they are unlocked is when we are all out in the garden together. The nice thing about them is that in summer you can open your doors and windows and feel safe-ish but come bed time everything gets closed and locked. On top of all this we also have a house alarm which gets put on at night and whenever mom & dada go out. Better safe than sorry.

06/27/2014 at 9:03 am
That’s the way we are my friends. You can never be *TOO* safe. It just doesn’t pay to let your defense down. We always keep our doors locked. Even when daddy is home, every thing is armed and locked. Be safe my friends. XOXO – Bacon
06/27/2014 at 8:10 am
LOCKED! We also have a fenced yard and 2 very alert and loud guard dogs.Ours friend berretta lives with us also.
06/27/2014 at 9:07 am
You really have to do that these days don’t you? It’s a shame. But we have to keep ourselves safe from peeps that want to do us harm. Please be safe my friend! XOXO – Bacon
06/27/2014 at 1:14 pm

06/27/2014 at 1:16 pm
Snorts! I so feel you my friend. You can NOT be too safe these days. Show after show that we watch, people leave the doors unlocked. I just don’t get it. I’m too chicken little – snorts. XOXO – Bacon
