Bacon’s Show and Tell – Blast from the Past

Welcome to the first series of Bacon’s Show and Tell!  Thank you so very much for participating today.  And thank you to Christina for suggesting I put together a Blast from the Past Show and Tell.   Remember to link your blogs to this one so we can all share.  Today we are highlighting that one special toy and/or your first toy that you had as a child.

Here is mom’s first toy ever!  She got it when she was a baby.  Isn’t it cute?  I told Fozzie mom had something from long, LONG ago that she looks at today and reminds us of our sweet friend Fozzie.  🙂 ❤

Mom had this toy as a baby and even chewed one of the ears off one time – snorts.  That’s my mom.  Teething on a kangaroo – snorts.  Thank goodness it went to the toy doctor and Dr Nana was able to fix it right back to where it was originally.

Mom has this toy in the workout room here at the Hotel Thompson.  She sees it every day when she walks the treadmill… AKA the monster as I like to call it.  I hope you enjoyed mom’s first toy my friends!

Bacon’s Show and Tell – Don’t Forget :)

REMINDER

Hello friends!!  As you know, I’ve been posting pictures of mom’s childhood toys and calling it Blast from the Past.  My good friend Christina  suggested I put together a posting that everyone can participate in with sharing a toy(s) from their past.

I am putting together Bacon’s Show and Tell scheduled for Monday, June 30th, 2014.  Post a blog this date to share a toy(s) from your childhood and tell us a little something about the toy.  What it meant to you.  Do you still have it?  When did you get it?  Do you have a picture of it?  Whatever you want to share.

Let’s see how many people we can get to post on June 30th, 2014 and participate in Bacon’s Show and Tell.  Mark your calendars and share with your friends – let’s relive some childhood memories!

NOTE:  You don’t have to still have your toy from your childhood.  Talk about what your favorite toy that you had, describe it and why it was your favorite 🙂

Many thanks to Christina for the suggestion!

Thank You From Hemi

aaww – Thank you my friends.  Hemi sends massive hugs.  During his surprise birthday pawty last night, I read him all of his birthday wishes.  He was overwhelmed! After cake (which Mouse Girl tried to jump out of), we ran around the house playing HARD, chasing each other and yes friends.  He swatted my butt – not once – not twice – but about three times playing tag.  Thanks.

He was all tuckered out afterwards.  Mom took this picture of him passed out.  You think he played hard here at the Hotel Thompson?

OH AND FRIENDS –

I was on mom’s Facebook account last night.  I found some of you and sent a friend request.  If you got something from June Smith Thompson as a request – that’s my mommy 🙂  If you think *I* post crazy stuff here on my blog, you should see the crazy stuff mommy posts.  She’s crazier than me!  If you get a chance, hit her up.

This Is Me Being Serious

Something happened last night.  We had friends over and of course you know I had to put on a performance – snorts.  Hey, it’s what I do.  The topic turned to my blog. We all took turns reading past articles from it and snorting – alcohol may have been involved with the humans – snorts.  Our friends made the comment that *I* could not be serious.  What?  Is that a dare?  Cause you know it sounded like a dare to this little oinker. So today, I will be serious.  This post will be about something that happened to me and mom this morning.  You just read and see.  Cough-cough-oink-snort- here comes my serious side.  Stop laughing.  I’m being serious.

This morning instead of me getting mom up for breakfast, she woke me up for a change.  It was early.  I couldn’t understand why.  She told me that she had to show me something that was special.  Something without electronics, without technology, with just me and her alone.  I just looked at her and yawned but hey I was game.  We walked to the kitchen and I sat on the floor yawning while mom fixed her a cup of coffee.  Then we did something strange.  We went out the back door of the Hotel Thompson.  The back door leads us to my backyard… my kingdom that I like to call it.

We sat down on the deck, mom cross-legged and I climbed up in her lap.  I kept looking at her waiting for an explanation.  It was dark out here overlooking my magical backyard and it was kind of chilly.  I couldn’t see anything but darkness.    Mom told me, “Wait for it Bacon.”  Wait for what?  I sat and continue to listen.  That’s when I noticed the sounds.

I could hear crickets.  I could hear frogs near the swamp.  I could hear a dog barking in the neighborhood.  I could hear Journalist Rocky the Squirrel chatting away with his family in the trees.  I even started hearing birds chirp.  WOW – I’ve never heard these noises so close before.  Then I started to hear a rooster a couple of doors down.  I looked at mom in complete awe and amazement.  She told me, “It’s not done yet Bacon. Keep waiting for it.”  Again this wait for it.  Wait for what?  What could be that interesting to get up at this ungodly hour?  Then there was a shift in the atmosphere.  Something changed but I couldn’t put my hoof on it.

I slowly got up out of mom’s lap and walked to the edge of the deck overlooking my backyard kingdom.  That’s when I saw it.  I looked at mom and she looked at me.  The blackness of the night started slowly fading away.  A white tinge was started to peak out from the night.  It was slow at first but as we watched minute by minute it started getting lighter outside.  Before I knew it, the night time had disappeared and the daylight had appeared out of nowhere.  WOW!  I could see my magical backyard in full light.  I looked at mom, did a little wiggle and pleaded, “Do it again mom!”  I went back and snuggled up in mom’s lap again.  We sat there for a long time, mom drinking her coffee petting me and I looking at the amazement of another great day.

One Important Question

Okay I admit it.  We watch a LOT of shows on the Investigative Discovery channel.  I mean a *LOT*.  I guess it intrigues mom in her line of work.  We just can’t get enough of murder and mayhem and trying to figure out who did it before the end of the show.

But I have to admit that there is one situation that repeatedly happens in the shows we watch on this channel.  One thing that is the common denominator that people do in real life.  One thing that simply amazes and blows our minds here at the Hotel Thompson.

And maybe we are thinking way too hard or we are always seeing the possibility of something that could happen.  Maybe it’s just us?  With that in mind, I come to you my friends to ask this all knowing question.

In most of the shows we watch, the common factor is that people don’t lock their doors to their house.  Really?  In this time and day with all of the bad out there looking for a place to visit, you really would leave your house door unlocked at night… let alone during the day?

Maybe it’s just us here at the Hotel Thompson that are the Chicken Little’s of the world?  We don’t just lock the doors here.  We have deadbolts and an alarm system!  Oh, and don’t forget Smith & Wesson who lives with us.  And daddy, rolls piggy eyes, he has the sign up at the Hotel Thompson.  He’s such a funny man.

So what say you?  Do you keep your doors locked or unlocked?

Happy Birthday Hemi

20130624-194724.jpg

This post goes out to my brother Hemingway – Hemi for short. He is a lot of things here at the Hotel Thompson.

He is my brother.

He is my friend.

He is the master cat.

He is mom/dads oldest.

I talk about him a lot here on my blog. Mostly about him using his ginormous paw to slap me on the rump – snorts. But really, today is his birthday. Today he turns the big 10 years young. Happy birthday Hemi.

And just remember Hemi, with your age – snorts –

you might want to cut back on spanking this oinker.

Just sayin’

PLOL (Pig Laughing out Loud!)

Oh friends, did you know that mommy/daddy adopted Hemi and his brother Tybee when they were three weeks old?  They barely had their eyes open and had just started walking – I guess you could say that was walking.  Their little tails were like a piece of yarn – 🙂  They had gotten picked up by Animal Control and taken to the shelter.  Mom and dad saved them both and brought them home.  They are such softies when it comes to us four legged animals, you know 🙂
