Blast from the Past

22 May

WOW – mom got all sentimental on this toy from her childhood.  The Little Professor was released in June 1976 from Texas Instruments.  It was marketed as the first electronic educational toy.  I think this is where mom found her fondness of math and to these day loves numbers.  So many people hate math but it’s really in the way it is presented.  I think by having fun with the Little Professor, mom started off with a fondness of math.   She got that far away look in her eyes and reminisced about being 7 and walking around the house ‘calculating’.  She got pretty good at it too!

I checked this item out on ebay as well.  It runs from around $25.00 and up.  Not a good turn around knowing that when it first came out in 1976, the price was $20.00.

Daddy never had one growing up – maybe that explains his dislike for math.  I wonder if it’s too late for this little piggy to start using it?

Did you have a Little Professor?  Do tell.

That’s exactly it! Dad *hates* math..I mean HATES. In fact, I think the man has to take his shoes off to count to ten – snorts. He was actually playing with it last night. I said playing because he wasn’t getting a lot of correct answers – double snorts. XOXO – Bacon

I think dad missed that day when they were passing out math skills. He has *none*. That’s why he dropped pre-med cause he couldn’t deal with the numbers. Idiot#inmypants

Oh that is too funny! It reminds mom of her biology teacher in high school. He was rumored to be an ex-stripper. He wore white pants one day and you could see his underwear that said JINGLEBALLS. It was a snort of a good time that day. jinglealltheway#inmypants XOXO – Bacon

Snorts! What made it bad was that he was bald at this point in his life. Mom had biology during 4th period which was also lunch area. Instead of eating, she would focus on her dissections. He would sometimes stay and help her out. It definitely wasn’t a SchoolofRock#inmypants
