It *IS* That Time of the Year – YIKES!

perhaps even whistling. When out of the blue – BAM! Something hit the back of her head. She ran her fingers through her hair, didn’t feel anything and kept going. She didn’t think twice about it while she was running her errands. 
But as the day went on, she started getting a headache. There seemed to be a lot of pressure in the back of her head. She reached up to give it a feel and WOW! There was a huge bump back there and her head felt slightly swollen. It also hurt to touch. What in the world happened? 
e.” Mom called the nurse hotline and told them what happened. Well, it is that time of the year when all of the bugs come out in nature. They think she possibly got bit by a bee or wasp. She took some benadryl and the swelling has went down some. You can still feel a little bump on the back of her head but the headache is nothing as bad as it was.

Oh please give your mom a big hug, brother, hope the swelling is gone soon. We had a giant hornets nest in our chimney, it was a horror. Mom tinkered a bomb with new years rockets and firecrackers and went to war. We won but the chimney was MIA.
I hope all will be careful while those winged monsters fly around.

Thanks friend. She still has a headache but the swelling has gone down considerably. Thank goodness because daddy thought she was ready for looney farm. Bee/Wasps 1 and Mommy -0- for now. The year is still young. Be afraid those flying terrors – mommy is going to come back with a vengeance. XOXO – Bacon

It is that time of year – we live in a rice growing area so the rice paddies are being flooded which means mosquito time and the ones we have here are big and nasty – they actually hurt when they bite you and then the itching is horrendous …but worse yet – they leave big old welts on you. Mom got bit right on the top of her head a couple of days ago and it swelled up like an egg !

Oh how awful and those nasty little stingers are out and aggressive here too. I have three epi-pens as I am totally allergic to them.

We hope Mom is doing better! She is in our thoughts today! I am allergic to bees and have had been stung many times and I swell up too. I even got stung by my eye on a business trip and half my face blew up like the elephant man, not good, but it made for a good story afterwards. Always keep Benedryl on hand for this reason, as it saved me! I even keep liquid Benedryl on hand in case our dogs get stung.

YES! That was the savior of all things here at the Hotel Thompson. Mom *always* keeps Benadryl on hand – pill and liquid form. She took some and it is doing much better. I just didn’t know that those tiny little bees can pop such a wallop! You be careful too my friend. XOXO – Bacon

Oh yes they can, when you find out that you are allergic to them! Once I also got stung on my ring finger and my entire hand blew up and it looked like one of those latex gloves all blown up. It can be very dangerous for those of us that are allergic. Also, make sure that your Benedryl is NOT expired either – – – check the expiration dates all the time! Expired Benedryl does not work!

Expiration dates are truly important. For example, I got something in my thumb last year and put some ointment on it. The ointment was waaaay expired and it did not work, so I bought a new one and instant relief. I have checked expiration dates ever since. They are there for a reason!

Oh boy, throw that out! It has lost its effectiveness. That is what I used on my cut and it did not heal it, but when I bought a new one, it worked! This is something that you should check on everything in your medicine cabinet. I am glad that you checked – but throw it out!

P.S. I think she’ll be alright in nature in the future. There are some bushes that need to be trimmed. She’s going to tackle them sooner than later 🙂

Yikes! Our mom is allergic to bees (well any sting of any kind really), the spot swells up HUGE and goes rock, rock hard and she has to go for ‘jections to make it better. We are happy your mom is ok though.

Wow! And you didn’t even feel it? Gosh darn! I “flew” into a bee a couple weeks back, touched my hair and found it sitting there! Didn’t get stung and now I’m thinking I was luckier than I realized. Happy you are on the mend! 🙂
