This perhaps might not be a toy from your past, but surely you remember these?
Mom and dad said these ‘horses’ used to be out in front of the five and dime stores. You would put in some money and get the ride of your life for perhaps 2-3 minutes. Sometimes if you were lucky, they had cars instead of horses. Mom and dad both said when they were little (which had to be MOONS ago – snorts) they used to ride these for 10 cents or a quarter. Mom said that she hasn’t seen these in some time. Have you ever rode one?
Nowadays, they have carousels like the one below taken from Wikimedia. These can be found in malls and we have a close one. When my cousin Savannah was younger, mom/dad would take her to the mall shopping. If she was good, she got to ride it on the way into the mall. If she was good shopping, she got a repeat ride on the way out of the mall. Cool huh? That little Savannah got to ride all of the carousels in our area at malls for a while. There was one in the Macon Mall that was FAST. Mom/dad called it a roller coaster – snorts. Have you rode a carousel?

Happy (sad?) to report that these little rides were still around in the early to mid 2000s for my daughter. Haven’t seen one in while, tho, now that you mention it…*sniff*

They were the bestest – so mom says. They used to even have some in the local Toys R Us but they closed. They definitely brought good memories to mom and dad. XOXO – Bacon

Not in a long while but we have taken little people to the old fashioned fun fair in one of our parks and they loved all the old rides. Sweet memories. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

My Mom says she remembers horses, cars, rocket ships – all manner of machines outside the “five and dime” stores for kids to ride on…..and carousels – beautiful old carousels. She says those were the good old days…..whatever THAT means!

they actually have one of those horses (only it is white) at our local walmart ! There is also a winnie the poo plane and a car.

Oh brother, my mom turned into an air-raid siren every time she saw such a ride and her pawrents said “no”. we had a swinging firefighter truck in front of the drugstore and my mom spent hours in that thingy while eating candied peanuts… till the firefighter girl sprayed 10 lbs of peanut-pulp on the floor…. what a mess and what a waste of food.

My mom/dad love them too. When my cousin was little and would come and visit, they took her to the malls to ride then carousels. Personally, I think they used her as an excuse so *they* could ride them. XOXO – Bacon
